Chapter 532 - 321: Kill You?
Huan’s tone was incredibly flat, as if he had already resigned himself to his fate. Unexpectedly, he even seemed to be advising Yang An to leave.
Yang An couldn’t help but sink into thought upon hearing this.
If he hadn’t encountered Huan in the Deep World before, he might not have understood what was going on. But now, he had a few theories.
The first time he’d seen Huan in Lower Hu, the man’s fingers had already been tainted by the filth. Perhaps his corruption had begun all the way back then.
’The Five Great Celestial Sects were in seclusion, the Central Continent was sealed, and now Huan had appeared here. He had become an outcast. Was he cast out of the Central Continent by the Earth Immortal Dao Sect?’
However, anything related to the Earth Immortal Dao Sect seemed to make the man lose control, so Yang An decided against asking.
He recognized Huan, but Huan didn’t recognize him.
This confirmed that the Origin Realm’s Real World and the Xian Origin Land within the Earth Spirit Stele had indeed become two separate worlds. They might have once shared a common timeline, but it had since diverged completely.
It also made him more certain that what he had seen in the Deep World was merely some kind of "imprint" left behind by the Origin Realm of a bygone era.
If that was the case, the Real World was the future, and the Deep World was the past.
Perhaps he could use the outcomes of the future to work backward and uncover the secrets of the past, thereby understanding what had happened in between.
But before any of that, he had to help the Bow Lady recover so he could enter the Deep World again.
Of course, if Huan was someone he could actually talk to, he might be able to learn what had happened more directly.
And right now, every word from Huan pointed to a single truth:
The Demon Fiends here had grown accustomed to being unable to die. That was precisely why everything here felt so unnatural.
’So it was a good thing I didn’t do what those Demon Fiends told me to.’
"Why can’t you be killed?"
Yang An was skeptical.
Other cultivators might truly have no way to kill these Demon Fiends, but he had not only mastered a great deal of Light Magic, but now also wielded the Power of Rules of the Light Category. He might just be able to kill the Demon Fiends here.
In the radiance of light, all things would melt away—not even a cataclysm was an exception.
"You can try..."
"Many have come here. The Southern Domain is now occupied by some faction I’ve never even heard of. They’re like a swarm of annoying flies. They can’t kill us, yet they delude themselves into thinking they can become one of us. It’s laughable."
’The Golden Soul Sect? Are they the flies Huan was talking about?’
Yang An wondered. But just then, several figures emerged from the dense fog, slowly walking toward him.
They weren’t cultivators. They were a few of the Demon Fiends that had been chasing him earlier. As if summoned by an unseen force, they stopped several meters from Yang An and stood perfectly still, as if waiting for something.
The moment he saw the Demon Fiends, Yang An understood Huan’s intent. He wanted him to use these fiends as a test—to see if he could kill them.
"The price of eternal life is to be trapped here forever, unable to escape. But then again, isn’t the world outside just a larger cage?"
Huan muttered to himself, not even bothering to watch what Yang An would do next. The outcome was already decided. No one could kill them.
Yang An glanced at the newly arrived Demon Fiends. They were all bizarrely shaped creatures.
If Huan hadn’t just said they were the first to be corrupted—the Fallen, who were once cultivators—it would be hard to imagine a cultivator being twisted into such a state. They looked even more fiendish than actual Demon Fiends.
They stood there quietly, showing no sign of resistance. There wasn’t a hint of anticipation in their eyes; it was as if they were just going through the motions.
’Is it really impossible to kill them?’
Doubting, Yang An raised his hand and abruptly clenched his fist.
An unseen ray of white light instantly pierced through the bodies of the Demon Fiends.
The moment the light appeared, Huan, inside the Stone Stele, suddenly jolted and snapped his head up.
"Wait—"
But he was too late!
The light passed through the Demon Fiends’ bodies, instantly erupting into a storm of countless particles that consumed them all.
These were merely Demon Fiends of the Corpse Transformation Realm. Before they could even react, before their expressions could change, they were obliterated into dust by the sudden explosion of light.
Only then did Yang An hear Huan’s voice.
He looked at the now-empty ground. The burst of light had dispersed much of the surrounding fog. The Demon Fiends were gone without a trace, their auras completely vanished.
Yang An turned to look at Huan, his gaze meeting the eyes that peeked out from under Huan’s filthy hair. It was as if they were saying:
’Are you fucking kidding me? I thought you said they couldn’t be killed.’
Huan had seen it too, and his matted hair couldn’t hide the utter astonishment on his face.
A moment ago, he had instantly sensed the aura of the technique Yang An had used—it was the aura of light!
It was a power that should have become forbidden in this world after its complete corruption, yet now it had appeared!
His reaction had been a beat too slow because he hadn’t been sure. He was hesitating, wondering if Light Magic—now a Forbidden Technique—could actually kill them.
