Her eyes remained fixed on him as she watched a slight frown between his brows while he continued, "Anything else... you can do anything you want to me... but not this."
Slowly, he opened his icy blue eyes, the intensity in them stealing her breath away.
"You cannot run away from me anymore, Ana." His voice dropped into a husky whisper. "You’re mine, and I won’t allow any distance to exist between us ever again."
Holding her gaze captive, he asked softly, "Understand?"
Aliana gazed at him in stunned silence before she whispered, "My powers..."
"They cannot harm me." He gently stroked his thumb across her cheek.
When he saw questions swirling in those innocent grey eyes, he spoke softly. "Remember when I told you that I am different? Just know they cannot harm me, so stop pushing me away."
She blinked at him, her vision blurring before a fresh tear spilled from her eyes. Her trembling voice asked, "R-Really?"
Gavriel leaned in, his tongue catching the fresh tear that spilled down her cheek. The intimate touch made her body shudder, awakening an unexpected desire deep within her.
He pulled back just enough so that she could see his face and whispered back, "Really."
Once again, she saw that every word leaving his lips carried nothing but unwavering sincerity.
There wasn’t the slightest trace of a lie in them.
Her heart, which had been consumed by the fear that Gavriel would leave her forever and be disgusted by her for what she had done, even though it had never truly been within her control, finally began to feel the crushing weight on her chest slowly lift.
Then he said something that shattered every wall she had spent the past few days trying to rebuild around her heart.
"Did I not tell you that you can always tell me anything you want, and I would never judge you? I meant every single word, Ana. Nothing could ever be horrible enough for me to pull away from you. You are mine... in every single sense, and you always will be."
Aliana’s eyes shook as a single thought echoed through her mind.
This man... the man who was only one night away from becoming her husband... was slowly tearing away every single negative emotion that had been eating her alive with just a few simple words.
Gavriel truly had no idea how much those words meant to her.
She had really thought this was the end of her... the end of them.
Yet this powerful man was kneeling with her on the bathroom floor, with no care in the world for the sin she had committed... with her hands clutched onto him tightly, as if terrified that if she let go, it would all disappear.
No.
She needed to feel it.
She needed him to make her believe that this was real and not another cruel illusion conjured by her fractured mind, just like the horrifying hallucinations that had tormented her moments ago.
"Is this... real?" she asked, holding her breath.
And she finally saw a heart-stopping smile cross his face, his dimple making an appearance... a sight she loved so much.
He leaned in and gently caught her lower lip between his teeth before giving it a firm tug, hard enough to leave behind a delicious sting. Then his tongue soothed the tender spot as he whispered against her lips, "Does this feel real enough?"
He pulled back slightly, and she saw his eyes burning with a desire she was certain matched her own.
Swallowing hard, her gaze drifted to his lips before she slowly lifted her hand to brush her fingertips over them. Need pulsed through every fibre of her being at the simple touch.
Her light grey eyes returned to his, and at last she whispered, "Make me forget..."
Her fingers slowly splayed against his cheek as she urged, "Make me forget all of it, Gav."
And that was all it took for Gavriel to yank her face towards his and crash his lips against hers.
He kissed her so fiercely, as though he were pouring all of his pent-up yearning, his frustration at not being able to be close to her, and every unsaid word into that single kiss.
His mouth moved against hers with savage rhythm, his tongue gliding past her parted lips before tangling with hers, and Aliana let out a loud moan that he swallowed whole.
She matched his pace with equal ferocity, burying her hands in his soft, raven-black hair as she pulled him even closer and kissed him harder.
A deep, sexy sound rumbled from Gavriel’s chest, the vibration travelling through their tightly pressed bodies until she felt it reverberate against her own chest.
His hands slid lower to the curve of her back before his fingers dug into her skin as he drew her even closer, causing Aliana to straddle him just enough to feel the prominent bulge of his length pressing right against her core.
Heat pooled low in her belly as she instinctively rolled her hips against him, drawing a sharp hiss from his lips.
Oh, he felt so divine. His fierce touch, the intoxicating taste of his lips, and his maddening scent were driving her to the very brink of oblivion, a place she had no desire to return from.
Aliana loved every part of it.
She savoured every moment of him... and everything he was giving her.
Driven by those overwhelming emotions, she did not know where her boldness came from, but without parting for even a single second, she let her fingers drift down his neck. She yanked his tie loose before her nimble fingers began unbuttoning his white dress shirt, opening the fabric until the hard planes of his chest were exposed.
The moment she ran her fingers across his bare skin, he let out a deep groan that made her heart drum even faster.
Gavriel, on the other hand, felt every single leash he had on himself snap. Looking into Aliana’s desire-filled eyes as she uttered those words, asking him... no, begging him to make her forget, was his undoing.
How could he ever resist that?
It was impossible when simply being around her was maddening enough to make him want her this much. But with her begging him like this, he could not help but go absolutely feral.
