The Duchess of the Attic

24. Reporters

Apologizing to the Viscounts of Croisel for their rudeness last night, they allowed us both to laugh and not care.

Then Opal, who talked about the current state of society and other things and was able to forge a new friendship with Roana, the Viscount Lady, left the Viscount Cloiselle family satisfactorily.

We're going to the newspaper with Claude.

"I wish there was a reporter who wrote that article..."

"Well, there's going to be an editor without a reporter"

Although I said something strong to Claude in the morning, for Opal the newspaper is a little nervous in an unknown place.

But Claude answered Opal's concern lightly, looking as relaxed as usual.

Seeing how it goes makes me think of Opal.

"No way, you're involved in running a newspaper?

"No, I'm friends with the manager, but I'm not in management."

"In the kingdom of Tysey?

"I guess I own one company"

"... I didn't know that"

Opal weakened and left his back in his seat.

This is true of this one, but it is very important politically to have the information.

There was no way King Alessandro hadn't gotten his hands on the newspaper.

Of course, the King lacks credibility when he engages in management himself, so perhaps Claude owns it under his name as well.

"You want me to make an inventory of my property and give it to you?

"No. Every time, you just let me know if you need me."

"Well, I will."

I knew it, but Claude has become an adult man who doesn't know Opal at all.

If you think about it, we haven't seen each other in eight years, and it hasn't been six months.

Not only in the last eight years, but I've only seen him during a long vacation since he went into the dormitory, so there were many aspects I didn't know, naturally.

It makes me shush when I say that I don't care about this "other matter" either.

If Claude hadn't returned home in the first place, someone else would have been involved in the matter, but that person means someone who can really get into the social circle of the Kingdom of Socieux.

"Neither Claude nor His Majesty King Alessandro can be alarmed."

"What's the matter suddenly?

"But you're not the enemy, are you?

"For Opal, for this country"

"... then I'll miss you"

"Thank you, ma'am"

"You're welcome, sir"

Claude understood exactly what Opal was saying, but left each other ambiguous.

Opal also understands that even if Claude has a secret, there is no lie.

Just as we ended the conversation, the carriage arrived at the front of the newspaper.

"You have a lot of people together. Some kids..."

"I have a little job at the newspaper. Everyone wants a job.... a little allowance to be exact"

"We're always understaffed in man-testing, but we all want to get out of the city."

"Isn't that a question of image? I'm not saying everyone, but I think if I come to the city, I can fly a flag."

"Speaking of which, I've heard that the proprietors here came out of the countryside to King's Capital and were polishing their shoes at first. It's like a sample of your birth."

"I often say I learned how to run a business by polishing my shoes, not by school."

"That's amazing."

Opal answered impressively and waited for Claude to get out of the carriage.

And I'll take Claude's hand and get out of the carriage.

He caught sight of those gathered in front of the newspaper as soon as possible, and successfully hid what was slightly frightening.

Then he lowered his head gently with a smile on his face, as if to be those gathered at the ball, and went inside the newspaper.

"Oh, Sir Fred. It's rare that you're here."

"Hey, Editor. Long time no see. This is my wife Opal. Opal, this is Marc Poncero, editor."

"Nice to meet you, Mr. Poncero"

"Nice to meet you, Mrs. Fred. It's really a good day to meet someone so beautiful."

Claude, who entered the newspaper, greeted the guard man at the reception with a light hand up, and had come as far as the third floor with his unmistakable footsteps as he escorted Opal.

And when he entered a room, the man in the deepest seat stood up and was called out.

Apparently, he looks familiar, but he doesn't know that Claude is Marquis Roussel.

"I'm here today to see a reporter named Alan Malone, are you there?

"Yeah, I'm here. Is that an article this morning? I won't reveal my sources, but that would have been a great article, wouldn't it? Sold to fly, just printed it earlier."

The editor-in-chief proceeded with the conversation as he grinned.

The fact that it's on is probably due to the newspaper being printed more than I could have met Opal.

"Alan just got back from the interview earlier. I hear you've come for new information on this morning's article. I'm about to write it in, so please be brief. Hey, Alan! Alan!"

"... hey, what is it ~. I'm busy right now!?

Alan stood up momentarily knocking down the chair as soon as Opal and his eyes met, looking troubled from a desk stacked with a lot of paperwork and newspapers.

Even within the noisy editorial section, the sound of the chair screaming.

"Dear Opal!? Dear Opal!"

"... is, yes?

Twenty years old, a young man there runs up to Opal by sewing between a desk lined with narrow places.

Opal accidentally lagged behind as he replied to the impending appearance, but the young man - Alan was blocked by Claude.

I'm sorry, but stay away from my wife.

"Huh? Oh, no, I'm sorry. Well, it's good to see you, Master Opal..."

"You know my wife? She doesn't seem to know?

Claude's voice is harsh at all times.

The atmosphere made me feel completely quiet in the editorial department.

Even the editor doesn't know what's going on, he's pompous and sees what's going on.

"It's only natural that I don't know because I - I've just admired Master Opal on my own for eight years now!

Eight years ago?

"Yes! My father serves the House of the Duke of McCloud, so I was able to see Master Opal several times too. And because of Opal, I was able to study and become a reporter. Thanks!

Alan, who answers clearly as if against his superior officer, stands upright and immovable.

Opal looked at Alan with his face out of the shadow of Claude, but I can't remember.

I did make arrangements for those working at the Duke of McCloud's house and their families to be educated, but I still didn't know because there were many of them.

"So, what's your father's name?

Alan grinned at Claude's questioning, which was slightly irritating.

"My father's name is Cave. I don't have a family name, so I named my favorite food."
