The Economics of Prophecy

Twelve story, Operation Electric Shock.

Above the castle gate of the city of Kazel in the northwest part of the kingdom. A knight who could follow the two men was looking north. Smoke is rising from across the mountain.

"Your Highness. That direction is Maurant's..."

"I haven't even received a report that the enemy has crossed the river yet, this is..."

"Until the report arrives, refrain from making minor decisions."

Craig told his men to look back. The two men, upset by the commander's usual euphoric look, regained their composure. Craig checked left and right. Upset must not be contagious to the troops of the lords defending the walls.

"As expected and unexpected."

Craig crushed in his mouth as he showed his men his back again. Maurant in the deepest part of the fort placed against the Empire. The fall is too big for a werewolf smoke of war.

"Your Highness Craig, His Highness is not here!

A knight in beautiful armor rushes over here. It is clear that he is in a hurry with one way of running. Probably the only superior contact in the military for him.

"Apparently, there are still people out there who need to calm down."

Craig flipped his cape when he snapped like that.

◇ ◇

"He said Maurant had already fallen. What was the Great River Watch doing!

First Knights Commander Marquis Tenberg punched his fist at the desk to report on the survival of the wounded Maurant Defense Corps.

"Lord Commander-in-Chief. Be calm."

"... to say that the fort has fallen must have used a siege weapon, isn't it an unlikely speed"

Half his year's men praised him, and Tenberg once exhaled heavily, he asked again. That's what Craig was wondering too. In the sight of the two Knights captains, the soldier opens his fearful mouth.

"The early horses from troops who were wary of the Great River did arrive. There was just an army of empires riding more than two hundred warcraft behind it. Maurant knew the enemy was crossing the river, and at the same time, it became a battle."

From the crossing point to Maurant, a normal march would take a day and a half. It was assumed that even a horse dragon would take about a day. I don't know how fast my legs are and how much I don't just travel in combat units.

"Was the carriage also pulled by dragons"

Craig asked. If so, we must recalculate the number of warcraft the enemy possesses. The soldier shook his head as he shrugged.

"That's it, I didn't see the transport unit at all. However, the back and torso of the Warcraft was loaded with tons of loads. And a few warcraft were pulling huge round-tails covered in metal. It was that Marutai who broke the castle gate. It was spinning with magic."

Remaining in the momentum of the march, the Legion of the Horse Dragon said it had stormed the gates of the fort. Arrows don't work on horse dragons, and the knights on them are magically increasing their defenses. Marutai, fortified by magic, hit with the momentum as it was, and the castle gate was said to have been destroyed by a single blow. They didn't take a moment to fall.

Use the horse dragon's transport capability to decide on an electric shock operation inside the defensive line with only combat units. It's a tactic Craig didn't expect to be that thorough either.

The broken castle hammer we talked about is also a problem. Unlike fighting through magic on a knight's own weapon, it is common sense that the efficiency of magic is drastically reduced if the object and distance are at all available. An arrow for a warcraft made of magical guidance gold can magic a far smaller one than a sword, but it has so much constraint on range.

That's why magic is hard to use in interpersonal fights. It was expected that the empire would have a large number of demonic crystals, but did you siphon in so much for this battle? Or…….

We must also abandon the assumption that Ma Long, a mobile unit, is not good at siege warfare. It's more powerful than you can imagine. Craig saw the look on the faces of the knights around him. I am uniformly shocked. Even though they were at peace, they showed so much power in the war. As it is, the upset spreads throughout the army.

Keeping his haste down, Craig calmly analyzes the current situation. There were three main causes. The first, of course, was found in the current report, more powerful than the Imperial Horse Dragon Squad could have imagined. The other two are matters of self-formation.

Originally, Craig should have already been in Maurant to implement the anti-horse dragon measures. Failure to do so is a delay in the assembly of forces. The army of the eastern marquis, which should be arriving in the King's capital, is still stopping near Kurtheit.

Still trying to hurry, Craig was taken time to convince Tenberg that he hated his men's prominence.

Craig just didn't think I'd forgive myself for being able to handle it. The Imperial Legion of Horse Dragons is so powerful.

"Commander-in-Chief. We should have thought it was here in Kasel that Maurant would be the next target of the enemy, more than he fell."

Craig reminded Tenberg of his words.

"Yes, you're right."

The western half of the kingdom will be divided between the king's capital and Bertoldo. That's why we're headquartered here. But the main battalion, which is supposed to shield the forward fort, is now in front of the enemy's sharp edge with a grunt.

"More than dealing with the power of such a powerful empire, we will not forgive you on the walls of Kasel..."

said one of Tenberg's tabernacles. The expression has a fright.

"No, when I say dragons, the number is only two hundred. Besides, no matter how much transportation capacity you have, you can't keep fighting without the heavy units. You can't feed the Warcraft in the kingdom."

Adele insisted next to Craig.

"Yes, it's impossible to siege Kasel for only two hundred. If you cage, you have a chance."

said one of the Western nobles. The knights around him speak out in agreement.

"With Maurant's fall, the fort in front has been broken up. Enemy succession is easy to cross."

Tenberg's tabernacle disputed.

Whatever the motive, it wouldn't be wrong. It should be considered that the construction of the supply base has already begun. Kasel will be marching ahead of the earlier horse dragon squad with other troops in place. Horse dragons break through the castle gate, and the cage castle strategy can be easily broken if we allow the invasion of enemy forces.

"Against the Commander of the Demon Knights. The captain's operation against the horse dragon was difficult to execute in Kasel."

That's what I've explained so many times to get to Maurant. Even though that poisonous effect on dragons has increased dramatically, concentrations become a major problem beyond sprinkling in the air. It's hard to use in the field. The original operation was to lure Maurant inside the fort and sprinkle poison inside the narrow fort.

Kasel is a city and not comparable to a fort, and the castle gate is on all sides.

Besides, I had just transported half the pollen I kept to Maurant. My men talk about burning it down with other supplies.

"If you want to be full, it's too wide for a cassel"

Craig overruled his boss's opinion.

"The walls of the King's capital make it a must to fight with great forces, including the Eastern Horsemen."

Tenberg said.

"Right. The enemy's power is too strong...... No, it's abnormal. We should make sure it's complete."

The First Knights' Tabernacle followed.

Are you saying that we will abandon the West?

One of the western marquis roughed up his voice. Cut it off, many claim to be Kazel dead.

"Oh, if there's anything to do with the king's capital, the kingdom itself..."

A voice of objection is raised against it. A nobleman in the centre. Military councils become noisy. Whatever, follow the barren parallel line by their respective positions and interests. Both opinions make sense, so I can't afford to end it.

If the main body of the Royal Army is pulled from the cassel, then not only the cassel, but also the Bertoldo, are in danger. The western marquis is upset. Perhaps the aristocracy that the empire had reached out to beforehand would turn around, and other aristocracies would strike an avalanche on the call-water for it.

Much of the western part of the kingdom falls under the control of the Empire. If we can hold off the western barn zone, the Imperial Army can continue to garrison in the kingdom. Not far away, a permanent supply path will be built that transports horse dragon bait and demonic crystals from the Empire. Strategically, it can be referred to as a confirmation of the enemy's victory.

Then protect the cassel and what happens if it breaks? Given the speed of the horse dragon, the retreat to the Wang capital would make it extremely difficult. Perhaps the kingdom's main army will be destroyed before we reach the king's capital. In that case, the Wang du will become a lightning fire in front of the wind. In other words, it would impose the fate of the kingdom itself on Castle Cazel, which does not have sufficient defense against the attack of the horse dragon.

Oh, my God, they make both situations before Kasel falls. Craig mocked himself.

"What do you think of the Lord Craig?"

To the heroic prince, everyone's gaze concentrated. He shook out the eyes of a pleading western nobleman.

"I believe the Commander-in-Chief's policy is reasonable."

The basic strategy of hitting the Wall of the King's Capital with great force is more than the enemy is powerful. First, he had further concerns that he could not speak of on this occasion. Another unit besides the horse dragon that was in the imperial cryptographic document. And that's the enemy trend on the inside.

"It's just that even if we retreat to the king's capital, we will need those who remain."

"... that's irrelevant"

"I lead the Knights Against Demons elite to contain enemy movements wherever possible. He then threatens his back as a guerrilla force if the enemy heads to the king's capital and cuts the supply line if possible. If the enemy is going for Bertoldo, we will retreat to Bertoldo and defend this. How about this?"

Craig's Knights predecessor was the guerrilla unit. Moreover, the mobility is high, including for example carriages. Regardless, to a lesser degree of comfort than a horse dragon, there is only a chance that his troops will survive even to the end.

"My lord. But if anything happens to His Highness..."

Tenberg said so. I'm not worried about Craig. On top of being a prince, if Craig, the hero, is defeated, he will have an unusual impact on the morale of the entire kingdom, not just the army. The greater Craig's achievements so far, the greater his recoil.

A life-saving feat creates a hero, but a once created hero is not allowed to die this time. But Tenberg must also know that this is not a situation where you can say that.

"I don't think there's any other option."

"Got it. Believe in Your Highness's martial arts."

Tenberg nodded. The western marquis is also slightly calming down with Craig remaining. Some of them look literally at military gods.

Of course, Craig is not going to die. At the end of the day, it is his idea that the only way to defeat the horse dragon is by that measure. Freedom of movement must be acquired to carry it out.

And that man should still be staying in Bertoldo.

You're going to resent my sister-in-law again. Craig was thinking about that while holding the hand Tenberg offered.
