The Economics of Prophecy

18 Stories: Preliminary Construction Costs

Early in the morning I returned from the lab to the Grand Duke's mansion, "I want to... not", and now I'm ready to head to the royal palace with my father and Meer. The Allied Rear Replenishment Base, a meeting to build our new city. I can't do it unless I think so.

Over breakfast, my father and I were lectured by Meer about the details of the plan we were going to announce today.

Now he was waiting with the greats of the business world in the palace of the Chancellery. Tapestries hung on walls, engraved desks and chairs. It's not flashy, but it's a room where history can be felt one by one.

My companions seem uncomfortable. I'm a full member here, too. Familiar food guild leader. Was it Giverney, the big man in the transport guild we talked about several times? And the first middle-aged man I see seems to be the construction guild manager.

Exceptions are the three of us at the Vinder Chamber of Commerce. My father was pressed to chair the Preparatory Committee for the Establishment of a New City. More than my secretary, Meer is no longer perceived as presiding over the Vinder Chamber of Commerce. And I'm all chaotic from my point of view.

By the way, I was about to be put in another room by myself. Of course I said no. Is it the meter of the separation?

In the first place, I'm busy with experiments. Why do I have to hang out with a gold calculation or something here...

"Shall we calm down, Ricardo? You look like you're going to rebel against the state. I'm afraid."

"Dad's the one who can be a little more grand. You're not so different from where you usually live."

This trio of civilians usually resides in one of the kingdom's greatest aristocratic mansions, you can't be surprised by this many rooms.

"Mr. Ricardo. It's not the room we're afraid of... No, it's usually next door to these two, so that's nothing, but fate is different."

My father dropped his eyes on the paper in his hand. It's an estimate of the cost of building a new city. I have an irresistible line of foreheads, but I can't help it.

"Lord Ricardo. I'd like you to meet Lord Dolan, the head of the Constructive Alliance."

From earlier on, Kenwell brought in the only man he didn't know who was watching this one. You must have distracted me. About fifty men who came before me. It's usually a wealthy merchant outfit. Even when I say construction guild, the one in this world should feel like a complete original contractor.

"Nice to meet you, Baron Emeritus Doran. Sorry I'm busy."

I said it politely. I'm only a merchant, and from that point of view, this is the Silver Chamber of Commerce. Over there is the guild leader. The target became frightened. No, it sounds like I called it in the way I say it now. Untasty. Untasty.

If you think about the enormous civil works of building a new city, Doran is literally a key person. I can't do anything without his help. It's not just a field position that makes it across the river, it's the foundation of a permanent city.

"I'll hang on to you first. Lord Vinder."

Doran just drowned his head on his knees before me. I panic. My father sighed behind me.

"Uh, it doesn't have to be that much. This is our position to cooperate."

"Lord Kenwell tells me to think I'm at least the son-in-law of His Excellency the Grand Duke of Bertoldo..."

Who is it? The kinsmen of that great nobility... Sure, I think I said something about Alfina to Euphoria, but that's only a limited possibility. Convenient for Alfina in that way to avoid that kind of situation...... Anyway, that's what I'm doing for Alfina now.

"Apparently, there's a difference in information..."

"Really?"

Doran looked at the room for a moment.

"Well, even without it, I wouldn't be able to treat you badly if I could show you all this stuff..."

Doran has the same paper as us. Right, a hell of a utility. size, cost, and location. A situation called the rear base of further catastrophe. I can't fit in with the word high risk high return.

I'm talking about a black swan flying around as a herd, and maybe a white swan is rare anymore. Well, for employees, including me, there's going to be a black job soon.

I know you want information to die, back-to-back with enormous money and a crisis of ruin.

"You're much more familiar with our secretary when it comes to numbers"

I gave a little brunette girl. Sitting quietly, Meer is the calmest of all. Seems like he's been in and out of the Chancellery many times. The bureaucrats who watched the merchants walking down the hallway of the Chancellery with their eyes on foreign objects seemed to recognize only Meer.

"This is Mia Vinder, special mathematician at the Chancellery."

I wonder why our secretary has an extra guild chief to thank. And what's that unheard of position? My father sighed again behind me.

"I will now explain the calculations in the background of the numbers"

Meer said.

"No, you're right. First of all, it's more about scale than rationale..."

Kenwell and the transport guild also lined up next to the drain. A lecture by Meer on the top of the Chamber of Commerce begins. I had no choice but to go next to my father at the window. Parents and children alike look at the sky with distant eyes.

"Hey, I wonder what we are"

"... even if Ricardo tells you that. I'm a lot bigger than myself. I'm just going to go around the chairmen of the Chamber of Commerce, one drink at a time."

I sighed with all my parents and children. That's the last thing I can do. You're the kind of person who can't negotiate without threatening a national disaster on his back. Me these days. No, I want to weigh myself in, too, thinking a little more about keeping myself fit. But when we do that, they say mankind could perish.

"Well, that's it. If we don't work hard, we'll lose our country..."

I put in the thought that the environment "Makkai" was bad. My father sighs.

"I am, though.... well, if you think they're going to hear that now, should you rather pity them?"

My father saw Meer.

"Thank you for your patience, Lord Vinder, representative of the Kingdom of the Alliance against Warcraft"

The door opened and a young man in his coat said. I was Senior Leonardo when I thought it sounded familiar. So, who's your lord?

"I'm a senior. You said that in your invitation. We were subpoenas, though."

Meer said. I sighed. Was the envoy represented at some point?

It was a medium-sized meeting room that Leonardo showed me in. An old man who doesn't know Grinisias at the back of a big table. Maybe our seats at the entrance.

Yay, the king doesn't even have a single royal family, of course. Well, there's one person who's infinitely close to it. I glanced at Euphiria sitting on the right. Regardless of the bureaucrats lined up behind the Chancellor, I'm grateful to know more of them.

"Your Excellency, this way, please."

As I tried to sit on the witness stand, Leonardo pointed to the right. Euphiria is inviting you. I had no choice but to sit next to Euphilia.

"You forgot the title of Assistant Auditor."

Euphiria said, hiding her mouth with a feather fan. Thank you very much, boss. There are at most three titles that fit in your head at once. If it goes any further, you'll fall off in order.

There's a photo of the Meiji-era minister or something, and there's a medal for it, but I don't think he remembers it all either. Maybe you should just remember one of the most formatted. What's the best of my three titles? Oh, I guess I was just representing the kingdom.

"By the way, that one..."

"Volker weather. The treasurer. Well, not near the Chancellor."

I see...... Sounds like a serious technocrat. The expression is a little stiff...... I'll make a new frame on the illustrious list of another drink. Someone may have spilled it now. If it's about remembering the names of people who are there every once in a while, people with abilities like the Hilberto Hotel manager, I wonder what that is.

Grinisias looked over at everyone and opened his mouth.

"Then raise the cost of next spring's Warcraft crusade. Initiate meetings, in particular on the construction of rear bases. Minister of Finance"

"Yes, let's start with an estimate of the overall cost of war…"

Volker stood up to Greenicias' words. Tension runs to the bureaucrats behind us. Leonardo handed out the paper before us. Don't line up the big numbers. It is only natural that almost all the armies of the kingdom should be expedited across the river. Ordinary soldiers can't fight because their opponents are warcraft, but they have to take on supplies and civil works. Scoop, maybe you should make a tuluhashi or something.

Food requirements, wood and stone, etc. Oh, will we lose some of the city's walls near the border? It doesn't taste good... Well, the effectiveness of the walls will be limited to the flying demon bug opponent, can't we help it?

"That's it.... next year alone will require nearly eight times the state budget. The means of procurement are temporary taxation, donations from aristocrats, etc., but there was only war last year and there are limits. In other words, it can be considered extremely financial"

Volker looked at the merchants. Three guild representatives are wiping their sweat. Well, there's a limit to how many lives are at stake. By and large, the identity of the disaster is still unclear. It's hard to imagine a demon bug we've only seen. If it is not possible, it also involves the stability of the country.

That's not all, something extremely unpleasant happens to us merchants. The distribution of gold is highly skewed. Flooding over there, it'll be like interference over here.

When I was considering the problem in my mind, I felt my gaze. Volker is looking at me.

"In that situation, that means spending this much to build a rear base, not to mention necessary... Are you going to tell me to bankrupt the country for you merchants?"

Soon, in its hands, Meer's estimates are grasped. Does that add up to ten times the national budget? But that's an estimate Meer made. This should still be a pretty hard forehead. Since it was only surrounded by a wooden fence, it was a full-scale construction that looked at future urbanization, so that would increase the cost.

But that's what matters. That turns the debt into an asset.

He said he had an idea.

Greenicias, who was silently leaving it to his men, opened his mouth. Well, suppose I show you what a former economics student looks like? I got up.

"Yes, we want to raise all the costs involved in building this new city, no rear base, by issuing bonds"

And I want you not to lick your previous life possessions. I think the previous country had assets about how much it owed……….
