The Economics of Prophecy

Thirty Stories: Middle Battle Begins

A demon worm that looked like a dot turned into about a small fly. Thousands even if the number is quoted as low. Less than I thought, but every single one is comparable to a dragon. Besides, unlike this one, it's all combatants.

The herd flies down the path we were supposed to. I'd be in trouble if you didn't come, but I don't want you to. Reason and emotion at best. When I realized it, I was holding my fist.

I can see the two armies lined up in the north and east positions. The herd and this hill, as well as both factions, will be placed to make rhombus. Tensions run around again. We're almost to X-Point.

"Here we go."

Maitille, who came next door, grabbed the magic laser and said. She and her men, unlike the other knights, put the other one through their hips.

"Oh. It begins"

"Hold on, Ricardo. You're like the Commander-in-Chief."

"No, you're not a boulder"

I appeal to myself in a round hips. So I find myself calmed down for some reason. Look, unlike the Empress in front of me who feels like someone else's mentality in this situation, I'm something ordinary.

"Don't start."

I repeated it again. Countless deep red lights lit up both factions of the meadow. And......

An arrow of light is fired simultaneously from the right and left of the field of vision towards a herd of demonic worms. A horrible horde of giant creatures devours crucible fire. Like a dragon.

Ruby colored light runs in the sky. I spit on it and watch. At the next moment, one black mass after another falls from the herd. The population of more than a thousand giant insects is visibly reduced. Eventually the first cartridge ran out and the laser stopped.

The demon bugs that were flirting with the light, their scale is halved, but they start moving forward here. But the second shot began with little time between them. When the line of light runs through the sky, the demon bug falls late. The same sight was repeated.

And a third shot. A demon worm, reduced to about a hundred, is driven into the light muscle. Several lasers concentrate on one. Some individuals fly flimsily and powerlessly, or swirl with smoke coming out of their heads if they have been unluckily caught in the eye.

A relentless laser pours down on those remnants. Less than an hour after the start of the fight, there was nothing left in the sky. Wins rise from the factions of both armies.

The non-combatants who were hiding in the building also approached the front of the fence at some point and watched the prevailing allies win. When the herd of demonic worms perishes, they cheer and are happy to hit each other on the shoulder. Instead of approaching the hills, the bugs could not even touch the two armies of the avant-garde.

"That was a brilliant and predictable development. I'm so scared."

I said, lowering the cylinder that Mathier was gripping.

"Yeah, but you can't be alarmed."

"I know. You just slapped me in the first place. And..."

We saw the workshop. Vinaldia and the others who work silently among the victorious boiling people. Dalgan and Prla are helping bring demonic crystals into the workshop.

"The number of individuals in this demonic worm is estimated at 1,100. According to the curator's observation, the magic response in the mountains of blood has hardly changed."

Meer from the observatory shows me the results of the calculations.

◇ ◇

Bwwwwww!!

An uncomfortable vibrating sound approaches the hilltop.

The third wave is coming.

"Prevent, but refrain from wasting balls"

Lasers are emitted to the demonic worms approaching over the hills. A bug with three horns, a light arises in the center of its belly. Out of balance, the demon bug flutters and falls. When one individual thought he emitted a great deal of light in the center of his body, he crashed in a stiff, straight line. Perhaps it struck directly at the ganglion of the winged thorax.

"Defeated"

"Don't be alarmed. Try to be vigilant."

"Check the cartridge level."

Tenberg and Mayteel's instructions echo. Turning to the warehouse, Dalgan and Prla are sitting back making sure they lean against the carrier. This is the third day of intermittent demonic bug raids. Fortunately, there have been few victims. What is being tested is the replenishment capability here.

I checked the clock and went back to business.

Maitille and Tenberg are discussing the next rotation in front of the observatory. Both faces have strong fatigue. Two to three times a day, two to five thousand strikes.

The number of demonic worms attacking is increasing and the supply route is threatened. The fatigue of the workers who use the night to deliver supplies that make it difficult for insects to act just builds up. More serious than anything else is the amount of Demon Crystal left.

Liaison with charging furnaces everywhere and the replenishment of red demonic crystals from the Empire is also lagging behind. Too much use.

The workshop here that makes the cartridges is operational day and night. Yesterday, however, a cartridge finally broke out. It means that there were defective products that slipped through both the production and testing of the cartridge. It's more proof than anything that the work is at its limits.

And you have no less of a burden than they do......

"Are you okay, Alfina? Drink this and make it a little easier for me."

I gave Alfina some honey melted milk to say. It's not just magic, control of purple magic by Alfina is necessary on the front. There could be a lot of damage if she just mistimed it a little.

Whatever Fulsey and Meer and Noel desperately support, they can't actually replace the controlling Alfina.

Nor has it progressed to regenerate the protective corset, which has ceased to function under magic. I only have a few more spares.

"It's okay. Because I'm getting used to it."

Alfina nodded forcefully at me. I had no choice but to believe that word.

◇ ◇

Late at night, Dagobad and Craig came to this rear base from their respective positions. To hold a meeting on future operational policy. Of course Mayteel and Tenberg are also present.

"The damage has begun to occur in the country."

The main business air sank on a report from Wang Du. There are cases of leaked demon bugs crossing the Great River. Of course, the country's guerrilla forces are dealing with it based on a raid forecast map. That's what's keeping me from making it.

"We slaughtered 20,000 of them. How many enemies are there?"

Tenberg said it was a mess. By the way, the two armies have done little damage. Remaining overwhelming Kirlesio, the human faction is being hunted down more and more. A huge battle result and a battle situation that leans to the disadvantage, you'll want to cut it even if it's not Tenberg.

"Not far, no. Tomorrow, but it's not weird if the front breaks down"

Dagobad said in a harsh tone.

"This is also intermittent, and I can't help but recover the demonic crystals from the demon bugs I defeated. Well, what's the matter?"

Craig also fisted his jaw and laughed bitterly. And the sight of the three of us turned to me. No, it's hard for people to think there's always a way to do that. Well, it's special this time.

I saw a girl running a pen on paper silently in the grievous space of the summit.

"Yes, sir."

I received from Meer the results of the battle of the day. It's a graph with two waves, a weighted sum for each, and a threshold.

The first wave aggregates the demonic bug raid time at the time of the day clock. The organism has an in vivo clock that prompts action at a set time. The same way humans wake up in the morning time, even in the dark. In insects, the same is true of feathering from pupae.

The problem was that the bug's body clock seemed to be responding not only to the sun but also to magic. If you only saw one day, you look like you're randomly attacking me. As a result, this graph also spans three days instead of one.

"Meer explains it to me"

I'll return the graph to Merit. The gaze of the three military commanders concentrated on Meer. The little girl doesn't have to worry about the gaze of the coalition's supreme leadership, and starts explaining.

"Based on the actual raid time by day clock and the results of the prolonged magic observation of the blood mountains of His Lordship Fabius and the others, we derived a pattern of behavior of the herd of demonic worms. Shown here is the expected time of raid over the next three days. The rash is huge, but it will be helpful. The bugs won't change their maneuvers."

As Meer said, I looked at the graph so that everyone could eat in.

"If this is true..................................................................." "Hmm. How to use it…"

I see a great deal of stray in the expression of the three staring at the graph. They'll probably want to believe unconditionally. Even Tenberg, who is relatively critical of us, does not speak a word of suspicion.

But that's too dangerous. Whatever the creature does. Meer said it as a matter of course, but what she means is mathematically correct. It is up to the commander who keeps the life of the soldier to reflect on tactics to what level.

"Forecast is only one raid in the evening the day after tomorrow. Let's decide on hiring after we check the reliability of this in tomorrow's raid pattern. However, I would suggest that we plan on assuming this is correct at the moment."

Mathier shows a reasonable line. I got angry back in everyone's face.

"Try to change the percentage of troops in the battle system versus those in the rest system"

"Right. The two armies decided to take turns watching..."

"Now the time to send out the heavy stage goes with it..."

Craig and Dagobird face to face with Tenberg to begin the consultation.

Away from the three of them confirming corps level collaboration, we gathered in a different seat.

"We need to adjust the replenishment system to match this time, including the cartridge. This is going to be the main night of work."

Instead, I just have to have him asleep at noon. But how many humans will be able to sleep well during the demonic bug raid?

"How's the enemy reserve?"

I asked Fulsey.

"Pretty much reduced. I think I cut half. There are larvae, not all of them adults."

"Almost there..."

I was just a little upset. But Fulsey doesn't break his tough face.

"But look at this."

Give me a verse. A standing finger pointed to a mark on some points in the Blood Mountains. Looking at the comparison with the other day, I find it to be an unprecedented big move.
