The Elf Is a Freeloader

Is that an epilogue?

A lot of wrinkled engraved fingers dance smoothly over the keyboard.

As with its fingers, there are many wrinkles in the person's hands and face. Those wrinkles are nothing more than a pile of time by the name of the life that the person has been overlapping.

I can see something very serious in the eyes behind the glasses looking at the monitor.

The work that the person is doing right now is probably very important to the person.

Then again with a serious look, the person kept sliding his fingers over the keyboard.

The exact key type without mistakes tells the silent story that the person becomes completely accustomed to it. Altogether, the person's serious personality.

Then the work continued for an hour, and finally the stirring arrived, and the person pulled strength out of his shoulders.

As if to go with it, the cell phone I left aside tells the incoming call.

As soon as I pressed the button of reception and put my phone in my ear, a familiar voice sounded from beyond it.

'What do you say, Doctor? Is the manuscript going well?

"Oh, I'm just finishing up. I'll give you a hint and then I'll send it to you."

'Thank you! Hey, it really helps because the teacher always keeps you exactly where you are. It would be easier if all the other writers' teachers were just like teachers. '

"Ha, because all this is the character of the person"

Like someone else when he was on his way to the monitor earlier, the person exchanged words with a flamboyant look.

He was a famous novelist.

He had an experience as a high school student, which prompted him to write a sentence.

What he experienced was quite unusual, so he was writing a fine essay in the sense of recording it.

Nevertheless, it is not necessary to keep what is written in the corner as mere computer data. I started posting on an internet posting site when one of my friends recommended that I publish it somewhere.

Of course, many people don't even look at such an individual essay. Still, it gradually became quite famous among some core people.

Eventually, someone who read his essay asked him to write a novel based on the experience.

Of course he writes a novel, so it's not just his actual experience, it also takes a certain amount of performances based on it. Still finding the suggestion interesting, he went on to write a novel, albeit painfully.

A fantasy novel featuring heterogeneous girls from different worlds. An elf girl from different worlds met and interacted with different people in this world, Japan, and became close to each other. It was almost a story novel.

He would have had his own talent as well. He also had all the good advisors around him.

His novel, which at first had only a fine-grained number of visits, gradually increases the number of people who read it, and finally begins to see the day of publication.

He first released the book to the world when he was old enough to graduate from college. After that, he continued to write novels while serving as a small company, and by the time he was over thirty, he began to make novels his own business.

Soon after that, he was also over sixty, and now that he was about the age of reaching seventy, he could count as one of the master writers who would not be pushed either.

One of his fans once asked me this question when he attended some kind of event about when it was.

"The fantasy novels the teacher writes attract people and stories, but the worldview behind them is always finely crafted, isn't it? How do you create such a fine view of the world?

He answered this question with a smile.

"Actually, my wife is an elf from another world. I hear a lot from my wife about different worlds where they come from. So I'm not setting a worldview in detail, I'm just basing it on what my wife told me."

To this answer of his, those who were gathered at the event laughed greatly.

Everyone thought the answer was his joke.

No way, I never really thought of his spouse as a real elf.

He then struck down the manuscript he had written, leaving his body behind the back of a chair.

Just then.

I can hear the clear voice he has heard for years, along with the sound of knocking on the door of his study.

"What do you say? Is your job going away?

"Oh, we've just got a separation."

When he answered that, the door opened from the outside and one girl came into the study.

Snowy white skin and radiant blonde hair that colours its skin. And most importantly, long, pointed characteristic ears protruding beyond that blonde hair.

She has a basin, and on top of that basin is his favorite hot water swallow. Of course, the flavor is green tea.

"I made tea... would you like a drink, Mr. Yastaka?

"Of course I'll have it, El"

The master writer and his wife, Yasushi and Elle, smiled at each other with pleasure, as usual.

"If you've got a job separated, why don't you go for a walk? The cherry blossoms are so beautiful, aren't they?

Elle tells me that Yasushi looks out the window of his study.

Indeed, she was right, the cherry blossoms seen through the window seemed to be now in full bloom.

"Right. There's no other manuscript in a hurry, and let's take it slow today."

"Ha!!"

Elle laughs happily at your words.

"So... what do you want to set today?

"Right...... yeah, let's make it a 'couple' today"

"Yes, I understand. Tsir, please."

Next to Elle, who said so, a small figure appears only for a moment. Shortly thereafter, the youthful Elle's body changes to an old woman about the same age as Yasushi.

Decades early in signing with the illusory Spirit, Tsir. Sure, the mana in this world is thin, but still, Elle's strength as a spiritual user was definitely growing, so that even if he was covering his whole body with illusions like this, he could remain effective for an hour.

In this way Elle uses the illusion separately, becoming Yasushi's "wife" and "daughter," sometimes hiding only her ears and becoming "granddaughter," and the two of us go out friendly.

The neighborhood also sees us as a close family. However, nobody has ever seen just the "daughter son-in-law," so apparently Yasushi's "daughter," though married once, is believed to have taken the child back out.

As a couple who met each other externally, Yasushi and Elle went for a walk as they approached each other.

Yasushi and El walk slowly watching the cherry blossoms in the neighborhood.

This is how many times I've walked with Elle looking at the cherry blossoms. Looking sideways at Elle walking next door, Yasushi reflected on his previous life.

An elf girl who suddenly appeared, a visitor from different worlds.

An eternal girl who met, fell in love, and was bound, was just destined for Yasushi.

Of course, there have been many times in my long life that I've had big fights out of triviality. Still, as promised then, Elle will stay beside himself until then, when his life will come to an end. I'm more than happy for Yasushi about that.

"Hey, El."

"What is it?

"I can't live that long anymore either... what's Elle going to do after I'm dead?

Life span of decidedly different humans and elves. Yasushi can only live twenty to thirty years at most. No, maybe there's less than a decade left.

In contrast, Elle's life expectancy is still over four hundred years.

For Yasushi today, I was more worried about Elle after he disappeared than anything else.

"That's right...... after all, we didn't have any children between us. Takashi and Aoi have so many families and relatives."

As she put it, they were not blessed with a baby until the end.

Is it too different as an organism in humans and elves, or was it not possible to make a child out of the fact that the world was born different?

Maybe it was simply a physical problem between you and Elle.

I don't know what the reason is, but I still missed you a little for not having a child.

In contrast to them like that, Ryu and Aoi were blessed with babies.

Together, the three children and their spouses, as well as their grandchildren, make them close to twenty great relatives.

Ryu now brilliantly inherits his father as mayor of this town, and Aai lives well as its fine gentleman. Though we were slightly alienated in our twenties and thirties, now that we are old with each other, it's time to face Yasushi all the time, as we used to.

When Yasushi was thinking about such old friends, a clear and determined voice sounded from the side.

"... if Mr. Yastaka does all of Tenshou in the near future... I am going to use that dagger"

A dagger with magic across the world. Elle still keeps that dagger safe.

"I don't know if I can go back to my world... because even if I went to a third world I have no idea, I'm an adventurer. I'll let you live and see in any world."

With a confident look, Elle laughs furiously.

"But if I do... my registry in this world, what shall I do?

"You just have to let it go. Just because the family registry stayed forever doesn't bother anyone. After decades of Elle traveling to another world, it's a little bit of a problem because he forgot to erase his registry."

Since human life expectancy is to some extent determined, if it goes too far, even family registries should naturally be disposed of quite a bit.

I don't know what the problem will actually be until then, but Yasushi naturally doesn't live at that time, and Elle won't be in this world either.

"But until then... we still have time, don't we?

"Oh. I'm not going to fuck with you right now either. I'm gonna hang in there for another twenty years."

"Ha!! Still good luck for the two of us!

As we have done so far, Yasushi and Elle hold hands softly.

From now on, the two of you will live close together as they have always been.

Slowly walking under cherry blossoms, a few cherry blossom petals fall over their heads.

That was as if to congratulate the two of us on what was to come.
