Jiang Man gripped the Token, his heart filled with indecision.

He didn’t know whether he should join or not.

’If I join, can I do it without leaving a trace?’

He tried to analyze the Array Patterns on the Token. He found that while it could block most external influence, the effect wasn’t absolute.

If someone were to enter his room right now, they would easily notice something was amiss.

But this concerned him directly. He couldn’t just sit back and not see what they were planning.

’If something unexpected happens, I’ll have to speak up and stop them.’

Putting everything else aside, Jiang Man could only close his eyes and listen to their discussion.

’If I join in to state my position, will it just be my voice, or will something else appear?’

Soon, Chong Guang’s voice came from the Token. "The situation is roughly this: The Old Yellow Ox is indeed suspicious, but he’s shrouded in Demon Qi, making it difficult to discern his true nature.

"There is a demon in the Zhao Family.

"We can tentatively rule out the Old Yellow Ox, Meng Feng, and Zhao San.

"They’re likely all scapegoats for the real demon."

Red Eagle mulled it over. "If we conduct a deeper investigation, can we find out who the demon is?"

"Yes," Chong Guang said pensively. "We could also likely determine if there’s a New Evil God. If the Old Yellow Ox still checks out, then he most likely just had some sort of fortuitous encounter.

"As for Jiang Man, he’s a rare Talent.

"Without any evidence, we shouldn’t press him too hard.

"As the top disciple, a key figure in the Visualization Skill, and someone who can break the Heart Lock—these achievements are enough for the Sect to grant him certain privileges."

Hearing this, Jiang Man felt that Chong Guang was actually a decent person.

’Finally, someone recognizes the great Talent I have as the top disciple.’

However, all of this was contingent on Old Huang not being exposed. Otherwise, any amount of preferential treatment would be for nothing.

"Then should we continue the in-depth investigation?" Xiang Tianlin posed the critical question.

As soon as he spoke, the entire hall fell silent.

In the grand hall, Red Eagle and the others turned to look at Chong Guang in unison.

Normally, Chong Guang would have advocated for postponing the matter.

They would continue the detention for a while longer, then try again with some special methods.

After all, the members of the Immortal Sect weren’t exactly idle.

They needed to consolidate their cases before they could mobilize higher-level investigators.

But this time, the situation was different.

For one, the matter was related to the Demon Race and didn’t explicitly involve an Evil God, so its severity was limited.

For another, there was someone present who could conduct a more in-depth investigation.

He believed that no member of the Demon Race could hide from this person, and the truth about the Old Yellow Ox would also be revealed.

The problem, however, was that he couldn’t fathom that person’s intentions. He didn’t know what their purpose was in being here.

To investigate or not to investigate?

He was hesitant.

Finally, Chong Guang looked at the other three and said, "Why don’t we take a vote?"

A vote would settle it and diffuse the responsibility.

Hearing this, Jiang Man was astonished. ’Is this decision really that difficult?’

From what he could tell, there were five people in the meeting, including himself.

’If it really comes to a vote, I’ll lose my advantage.’

If the investigation went deeper, never mind whether the Old Yellow Ox could pull the wool over their eyes, the Demon Lord in the Zhao Family would surely be exposed.

And if they found any other clues about the Old Yellow Ox that drew Ting Fengyin’s attention, then it would be all over for him.

’I might as well intervene now.’

’In any case, I’m just following Ting Fengyin’s instructions to protect the Demon Lord.’

’Protecting Old Huang at the same time shouldn’t be an issue, right?’

So, just as they were about to vote, Jiang Man spoke.

In an instant, a phantom projection of him materialized in the center of the grand hall.

Upon seeing the figure appear, Red Eagle and the others were not surprised.

Chong Guang, however, was a little taken aback.

But he quickly realized who it was.

The Special Inspector, Zui Fusheng.

He was actually present.

True Master Tai Hua, who had been sitting silently in the master seat, narrowed his eyes slightly, his gaze deep and inscrutable as he stared at the phantom projection.

In Jiang Man’s perception, there were only four people in the hall; he hadn’t sensed the presence of the unfathomable True Master Tai Hua at all.

He spoke softly, his tone betraying no emotion. "Let them go. There’s no need for further investigation."

Chong Guang knew nothing of the Evil God Record, so he felt no compunctions.

He looked at Zui Fusheng and questioned him, "Let them go? Isn’t that a bit too lenient? The truth has yet to be uncovered. Aren’t you afraid, Inspector, that this could lead to disaster?"

Jiang Man looked back at him. Knowing a single sentence wouldn’t be enough to convince them, he recalled Ting Fengyin’s words and said, "The one hiding in the Zhao Family is a Demon Lord."

This declaration was stunning.

A Demon Lord?

If that was true, the situation was entirely different and required even greater caution.

But if a Demon Lord was involved, why let them go?

Under the supreme authority of the Immortal Sect, were they truly afraid of provoking a Demon Lord?

Before they could question him, Jiang Man continued, "He’s not some renowned Demon Lord. The fact that he was released means someone must have helped him.

"Just leave him be for now."

After saying this, Jiang Man immediately disconnected, giving them no chance to ask questions.

Because he didn’t know anything more.

’If they asked me which one is the Demon Lord, what would I do?’

He suspected it was Zhao Tiankuo, but he had no proof.

’What if I’m wrong?’

’The repercussions would be significant.’

He wasn’t Old Meng; he couldn’t make a perfect guess every single time.

But he felt those two sentences would be enough.

’I’m an Unparalleled Celestial Pride, backed by Ting Fengyin—another Unparalleled Celestial Pride with the Great Success Body of Heaven and Earth—not to mention the weakened Evil God, Old Huang, and my doppelganger wife, Meng Qiewei. How could I possibly fail to bluff these people?’

He figured he would be able to get out soon.

Because of Zui Fusheng’s intervention, the meeting ended early.

It was no longer possible to reach a definite conclusion.

But as the meeting concluded, Red Eagle and the others all turned to look at True Master Tai Hua in unison.

Chong Guang also had a sudden realization: True Master Tai Hua had come for the person behind the Demon Lord.

He hesitated for a moment before saying, "I agree we can release them and observe for a while to draw out the person pulling the strings. But we can’t be sure who the Demon Lord is."

With Chong Guang having spoken, Red Eagle and the others chimed in, "We can keep a close eye on some of the more... unusual individuals."
