The Entry-plundering Demon Hunter

Chapter 179: Xiaoqi Is Hungry

Information on the New District’s Martial Arts Universities.

It was just a collection of university profiles and introductions.

They also included the minimum scores required for admission.

Liu Song was not in the classroom.

The classroom was immediately filled with a constant buzz of discussion.

Some students even started discussing things with those around them.

They held up their Martial Arts exam scores, comparing them against the minimum admission requirements as they talked.

With the top score in the entire district, Lin Yi naturally didn’t need to worry about minimum requirements.

He could choose any Martial Arts University he wanted.

Just as he’d planned, after briefly looking over the introduction for Xingwu University, he filled in his application without hesitation.

"Lin Yi, which university are you planning to go to?"

Suddenly, his deskmate, Li Meng, blinked and looked at Lin Yi curiously.

"Hm? I’m going to Xingwu University!" Lin Yi replied with a smile.

Li Meng’s brow furrowed, a hint of disappointment in her eyes. "Xingwu University? You need really high scores for that. I guess we won’t be classmates in college!"

The minimum requirement for Xingwu University was a cultivation level of 1-star or higher.

Besides cultivation, applicants also had to receive a grade of "Excellent" or higher in physical conditioning, simulated combat, mental fortitude trials, and so on.

Such requirements were nothing to Lin Yi.

But for many other students, this was a major barrier to admission.

Many students’ scores simply didn’t meet this standard.

And for these students, even though they had passed the Martial Arts exam, getting accepted into any university was still an open question.

That was why their homeroom teacher, Liu Song, had just stressed repeatedly to choose universities with lower, less stringent requirements if possible.

The New District didn’t just have Dragon Tiger, Lanshan, Xingwu, and Martial Alliance universities.

There were also several more ordinary Martial Arts Universities.

These universities generally had slightly lower admission standards, but they lacked the prestige of the other four.

As long as one’s cultivation reached the 4th Rank and they passed all the other assessments, they were basically guaranteed admission.

It was just that a degree from one of these universities didn’t carry the same weight as one from the top four.

Even so, for many Martial Arts exam candidates, that was more than enough.

They didn’t have any extravagant hopes; just being admitted and getting to live in the New District was enough for them.

Lin Yi smiled at Li Meng. "Even if we aren’t classmates, we’ll both get to live in the New District. Isn’t that good enough?"

"Mhm, mhm, you’re right! As long as we can both live in the New District, that’s enough!"

Li Meng smiled, nodding repeatedly.

Her large eyes twinkled endlessly. She wasn’t the type of girl you’d call stunning.

Instead, her features were rather average, but her baby face made her look especially cute.

Lin Yi’s words seemed to trigger an epiphany.

She lowered her head and began filling out her application.

Just as the classroom was buzzing with activity, homeroom teacher Liu Song walked in with a grim expression.

Without disturbing the other students, he walked straight toward Lin Yi.

"Lin Yi, come with me for a moment!"

"Okay!"

Lin Yi nodded and put his application form away.

He then followed Liu Song out of the classroom.

Outside the classroom, besides Principal Qu, stood the school’s dean of students, the Martial Arts director, and three reporters.

As Lin Yi’s gaze swept over them, he noticed a man in his thirties among the three reporters, standing in the back and shouldering a camera.

However, the talent tag above the man’s head immediately gave him away.

[Certified 3-star Demon Beast]

’As expected. Xiaoqi spotted it long ago.’

’A 3-star Demon Beast? And it’s managed to blend in with ordinary people?’

’And it even came to the school disguised as a cameraman?’

Lin Yi gave a subtle, unreadable smile.

’Since you’re here, you’re not leaving.’

"Student Lin Yi, hello there!"

The moment Principal Qu saw Lin Yi, his face scrunched up into a massive grin.

His eyes narrowed into thin slits.

He stepped forward, extending a hand to shake Lin Yi’s.

Lin Yi nodded. "Hello, Principal Qu."

"Lin Yi, these three are reporters from Xinghai TV Station. They’d like to interview you!"

"Principal Qu just spoke with me, but we wanted to get your thoughts first. If you don’t want to do the interview, you can just say no!"

Liu Song whispered from the side.

His true intention was to completely respect Lin Yi’s wishes.

After three years of high school, he knew Lin Yi very well.

Lin Yi wasn’t a student who liked being in the spotlight; he usually kept a very low profile.

An interview like this wasn’t something Lin Yi would necessarily enjoy.

As his homeroom teacher, Liu Song subconsciously wanted to protect him.

If Lin Yi truly didn’t want to be interviewed, Liu Song would refuse on his behalf, even if it meant confronting the principal head-on.

How could Lin Yi not understand his teacher’s intentions?

’If I refuse now, I can just walk away scot-free,’ Lin Yi thought. ’Once the acceptance letter arrives, I’ll head straight to the New District for university without any consequences.’

’But Liu Song is different. He works at this school; he’s a teacher here.’

’If Principal Qu decides to give him a hard time over this...’

’...that would be the same as harming Teacher Liu.’

’Besides... Xiaoqi is hungry.’

"Sure, but I have one condition," Lin Yi said with a nod and a smile.

Liu Song froze, his brow furrowing instinctively.

He hadn’t expected Lin Yi to agree to the interview.

Then again, he hadn’t really been in touch with Lin Yi for nearly three months.

’Perhaps his personality changed in these past three months?’

Principal Qu quickly piped up with a smile, "Student Lin Yi, just name your condition!"

"Principal Qu, I’d like to be interviewed in a private location."

"And aside from these three reporters, no one else is allowed to enter. Is that acceptable?"

Lin Yi said with a faint smile.

Principal Qu was taken aback, and the other directors’ brows furrowed.

In their minds, this interview was a rare and precious opportunity.

Lin Yi was a student from their school who had become the top scorer with the best results in the entire district.

What an incredible honor this was!

If they could get some screen time alongside him, it would be a huge boost for their future careers.

They’d have bragging rights for a lifetime.

It would also give them priority in future job assignments. This was a major professional achievement!

But now, Lin Yi was demanding a private interview.

It was like having a bucket of cold water dumped over their heads.

It extinguished all their fantasies for the future.

"Student Lin Yi, this interview isn’t just about you. The school leadership also needs to..."

"Then forget it. Just pretend I never said anything."

Just as a well-dressed director with glasses stepped forward to speak, Lin Yi cut him off before he could finish and turned to walk back to the classroom.

Seeing this, Principal Qu grew anxious.

His eyes darted as a plan formed in his mind.

"Director Zhuang, Lin Yi wants a private interview. Don’t make such a big deal out of it!"

"Student Lin Yi, I accept your request! How about the small auditorium? You can do the interview there?" Principal Qu asked with a fawning expression.

Lin Yi shook his head. "Principal Qu, how about the conference room instead?"

"Fine! The conference room it is! Let’s go to the one upstairs!"

"So, shall we go now?"

Lin Yi nodded, but before he left, he handed the application form he had just filled out to Teacher Liu.

"Teacher Liu, I’ve finished filling it out. Could you please submit it for me?"

"Okay."

Liu Song took the application form and glanced at the Martial Arts University Lin Yi had written down.

There were three slots for choices, but Lin Yi had only filled in one... Xingwu University.

Clearly, his sights were set only on Xingwu; nothing else was even a consideration.

Liu Song stood outside the classroom, watching Lin Yi head upstairs with a profound gaze.

After a long moment, he let out a soft sigh.

Clutching Lin Yi’s application form, he walked back into the classroom.

「In the school’s conference room.」

As Lin Yi and the three reporters walked in, the large door to the conference room swung shut behind them.

The room was spacious, with tables and chairs neatly arranged.

Once inside, Lin Yi smiled calmly and said, "Please, have a seat. I’m just going to draw the curtains."

Hearing this, the three members of the TV station crew exchanged puzzled glances.

The crew consisted of the cameraman, a reporter, and a young assistant.

The assistant looked to be in her twenties, likely a recent graduate interning at the station.

They watched Lin Yi’s strange behavior.

’Drawing the curtains in broad daylight? What’s he doing?’

After the two women sat down, the demon beast cameraman found a good position for his camera.

Everything was ready; they just had to wait for Lin Yi.

After a moment, Lin Yi finished drawing all the curtains.

He switched on the lights, then walked to the opposite side of the conference table and sat down.

His gaze flickered, intentionally or not, toward the cameraman.

He chuckled. "Alright, we can begin."
