The Entry-plundering Demon Hunter

Chapter 189: Making Good on the Pie I Drew

The bus arrived at the stop.

Lin Yi hurriedly ran off the bus.

He glanced around, searching for the courier.

Then, not far away, he saw him.

A man in a black leather jacket and leather pants stood with a cigarette dangling between his fingers.

He was leaning against a heavy-duty motorcycle, trying to look cool.

Lin Yi glanced at him, his brow furrowing slightly.

’[Certified 5-star Martial Artist]’

The courier had just said on the phone...

...that he’d be waiting at the bus stop, wearing all black.

’It can’t be him, can it?’

’Has the delivery business gotten this competitive? Even 5-star Martial Artists are joining the industry?’

"Excuse me, are you the courier...?"

Lin Yi approached and asked with a polite smile.

As he spoke, the man turned and sized Lin Yi up for a few moments. "You’re Lin Yi?"

"Yes, that’s me!"

Lin Yi nodded. Everything matched.

The man took a long drag from his cigarette, then turned and grabbed a black leather bag from his motorcycle.

He unzipped it and rummaged around inside for a moment.

Finally, he pulled out something that looked like an envelope.

It was stamped with an official seal, however.

"This is it. Your acceptance letter. Sign here."

"Thanks!"

After Lin Yi took it, the man immediately handed him a signature form.

Lin Yi signed his name, thanked him again, and started walking back toward his residential complex.

The man, meanwhile, got on his motorcycle and left.

On the way back to the complex, Lin Yi glanced at the envelope.

His brows immediately knitted together.

Emblazoned on it was the acceptance letter for [Lanshan University].

Lin Yi was a little stunned. He checked the recipient’s name again—it was definitely his.

’I don’t think I even applied to Lanshan University, did I? Why would they send me an acceptance letter?’

He opened the envelope. Inside was indeed an acceptance letter, along with a pass for the New District.

This reminded Lin Yi of what Wei Nan had said that morning.

The universities in the New District were all scrambling to recruit martial arts candidates.

Especially the ones with the top scores...

’So this is how they do it,’ Lin Yi realized.

Did that mean the martial arts candidates with the highest exam scores...

...would receive acceptance letters from all sorts of universities?

And unless the students who received these letters had a clear goal and a specific university they wanted to attend...

...their resolve would be shaken.

Or, if the university they applied to didn’t accept them, they would still have other options...

"They really are poaching students!"

Lin Yi chuckled and put the acceptance letter back into the envelope.

He then headed into his residential complex.

However, what Lin Yi didn’t expect was...

...that over the next two days, he would receive an average of two to three acceptance letters per day.

There were famous schools like Dragon Tiger University, Martial Alliance University, and Lanshan University.

There were also some Martial Arts Universities that hadn’t made it into the top ranks but had their own unique strengths.

In two days, Lin Yi received at least seven or eight acceptance letters.

"I gotta ask, are your application rules this loose? You can apply to this many Martial Arts Universities at once?"

"This is the ninth time we’ve met, isn’t it?"

The young courier frowned, looking at Lin Yi in utter confusion.

Aside from this year’s batch of martial arts candidates...

...nothing like this had ever happened in previous years.

Lin Yi laughed awkwardly. "Would you believe me if I said I only applied to one university?"

"You applied to one university? And seven or eight are fighting over you? Is that what you’re saying?"

"Pretty much!"

"Fine, you martial arts candidates this year really know how to play games!"

"So, have you decided which university you’re going to?"

The young courier pulled a pack of cigarettes from his pocket, took one out, and offered it to Lin Yi.

Only after Lin Yi refused did he put it to his own lips.

With a soft CLICK, he lit the cigarette and began puffing away.

Lin Yi smiled. "No need to choose. I’m sticking with my original application!"

"Good. It’s best to have a goal. The scary part is not having one, making a blind choice, and then it’s too late for regrets!"

"I’m heading out. Still got a lot of acceptance letters to deliver!"

The young courier hopped on his motorcycle, a cigarette dangling from his lips, and sped off into the distance with a deafening ROAR.

The ninth acceptance letter.

Lin Yi didn’t even feel like opening it anymore.

Fortunately, the one from Xingwu University had arrived the day after the first letter.

Now, he wouldn’t even consider any other university.

Just as he was holding the envelope and about to head into the complex,

his phone rang.

Lin Yi picked up his phone and glanced at the screen. It was Chu Zhengxiong.

"Hello? Brother Chu?"

"Kid, what’ve you been so busy with?" Chu Zhengxiong’s deep voice boomed through the phone.

Lin Yi laughed. "What else? I’ve been busy accepting deliveries every day. Brother Chu, are you out of the hospital?"

"I am. Heading back to the New District tomorrow!"

"Are you busy? If not, come on out. I’ll treat you to a meal.

You’re always saying I just make empty promises. Well, today I’m making good on one!"

"Sure, that’s great! I was just worrying about what to eat tonight!"

"Alright then! I’ll text you the address in a bit. Just head straight over!"

After saying that, Chu Zhengxiong hung up.

A moment later, a message came in.

Lin Yi glanced down at it, and his expression changed slightly.

The address Chu Zhengxiong had sent was for He’s Kitchen?

The same little courtyard Lin Yi had visited twice before?

After replying with a quick [Got it], he headed back home.

He changed his clothes and left some Demon Beast Meat out for Xiaoqi.

Ever since he discovered Xiaoqi had a particular fondness for Demon Beast Meat,

he had switched its daily feed from millet to Demon Beast Meat.

And Xiaoqi’s appetite was enormous. At first, a small piece was enough.

But as the days went by, Xiaoqi was now eating at least a hundred grams in a single meal.

It ate four meals a day, which added up to four hundred grams of Demon Beast Meat.

If this kept up, its appetite would soon reach half a kilogram a day.

But even as Xiaoqi’s appetite grew,

its size hadn’t changed at all.

Only its coloring had become more vibrant, and its feathers were slowly growing in.

Now, Xiaoqi was brave enough to jump from high places and glide through the air...

"I have to go out in a bit, so I’m not taking you with me today!"

"I’ve already prepared your dinner. Eat it when you get hungry.

After you’re full, go back to your box and sleep!"

"And I’m warning you, don’t go freezing everything while I’m gone.

Oh, and one more thing, you’re forbidden from using that fireball of yours in the house!"

"If you start a fire, we’ll both be homeless, and you might end up as a roast chicken... no, wait, a roast bird!"

Lin Yi lectured Xiaoqi with a serious expression.

He had to remind it; the little thing was a real troublemaker.

Every night, while Lin Yi was in the Spatial Domain of the [Star River Qi Transformation Technique],

it would sneak out of its cardboard box and play at freezing things in the bathroom.

And just in the last two days, Lin Yi had discovered it could control fire, too.

The flame was only the size of a fingernail,

but a single spark can start a wildfire.

If that flame touched anything flammable, it could burn the whole house down.

Xiaoqi looked at Lin Yi with a wronged expression in its eyes.

[I request... don’t leave me behind. Take me with you. I want to go...]

Xiaoqi began to whine poutingly at Lin Yi through their mental connection.

"No way. My pockets are too small today. You won’t fit!"

"Besides, the person treating me to dinner looks really fierce. Aren’t you afraid he’ll spot you and decide to make you into a side dish?"

At his words, Xiaoqi seemed to get scared.

It hurriedly hopped back a few steps, and Lin Yi smiled.

"Alright now, you be good at home. Don’t cause any trouble for me. I’ll be back right after dinner!"

After he finished talking, Lin Yi put Xiaoqi back in its box.

Only then did he head for the door.

Just as Lin Yi walked out of the residential complex, he saw a motorcycle parked there.

It was Chu Zhengxiong, clad in his usual leather jacket.

On his head was a pink helmet.

The two of them made eye contact.

Lin Yi walked over with a smile. "Brother Chu!"

"Get on. I’ll give you a ride to dinner. Here’s your helmet!"

Lin Yi took the helmet. Its color was normal.

It wasn’t pink like Chu Zhengxiong’s.

With a tremendous ROAR, Chu Zhengxiong sped away with Lin Yi.

"Brother Chu, I’ve been curious about something ever since we first met."

"Why are you wearing a pink helmet? If I’m not mistaken, that’s a women’s model, isn’t it?"

Lin Yi had been holding this question in for a long time.

At first, he didn’t dare to ask because he didn’t know Chu Zhengxiong well.

Later, when they became more familiar, he always forgot. If Chu Zhengxiong hadn’t shown up on his motorcycle today,

Lin Yi would have probably forgotten all about the helmet.

Over the deafening roar of the engine,

Chu Zhengxiong shouted back, "This helmet? It’s my sister’s!"

"Huh? You have a sister?"

"What’s wrong with that? Am I not allowed to have a sister? When you get to the New District, I’ll introduce you. She’s starting university this year, same as you!"

Lin Yi quickly shook his head. "Brother Chu, I’d better not. I’m not looking for a relationship right now!"

"What are you thinking, kid? Who said anything about you two dating? I just want you to meet.

My sister is as beautiful as a flower; she’s way out of your league!"

Lin Yi replied, "As beautiful as a flower? Are you sure?"
