Chapter 580 - 578: The Elf Named Xi
Previously.
After Elina infused the Holy Tree with some life essence bestowed by the Elf God, the Holy Tree blossomed anew, reactivating to resist the onslaught of pollution waves.
After completing this task, Elina stood before the Elf King.
The Elf King handed her some Holy Tree sap, nodding approvingly, "Well done, Elina. I have a very important mission that requires your assistance."
Elina was already accustomed, took the Holy Tree sap, and spoke directly, "Go ahead, tell me what you need me to do."
"This outbreak of filth has caused a group of talented elves to be severely affected by pollution, suffering from the initial wave while resisting it, delivering invaluable messages to us.
"However, the first wave has left them tainted, and added to certain circumstances, if those children are not remedied in time, they will lose their talents and cease to progress. I need you to help replenish their life energy, afterward, we will organize a team to seek assistance from the Recovery Temple."
Elina shrugged, "I thought you’d want me to take them to the Recovery Temple."
The Elf King shook his head amusedly, "The Recovery Temple, after all, is not our people; although they wield the power of life, they remain mysterious. Even though they’ve never shown any interest in the Elf Forest or the Royal City, we must be cautious; we definitely will not allow you to contact them directly."
Elina replied indifferently, "Alright, whatever you say. In any case, I hope to see you come up with effective countermeasures against the pollution. Otherwise, you might consider my suggestion, at least as a means to protect the Elf Royal City."
"Your suggestion?" The Elf King was surprised.
Elina said nothing, just glanced at Candia, who was ’protecting’ nearby, shaking her head, "Nothing, just a casual remark."
The Elf King thoughtfully glanced at Candia.
Elina went on with her mission to replenish the life energy of the elves tainted by pollution on the list, easing their suffering.
Originally, Elina thought it was just an ordinary task, but when she came to a girl and infused her with life energy, she suddenly sensed something different.
She could feel that the girl’s body seemed to have received some sort of protection, allowing her not to suffer like the others.
This special case could only be detected by someone extremely sensitive to life essence like her, yet she wasn’t certain if someone helped her or if it was due to the girl’s special constitution.
She carefully identified and uttered softly, "Is this elf the one named Lana?"
One of the accompanying elves nodded, "Yes, she’s Lana. Her situation is quite special; she was polluted after exhausting all Magic Power."
Elina nodded, "I know. When I arrived, only she was still valiantly resisting."
Speaking of which, this elf Lana managed to hold on for so long due to a special array node.
And that node was likely set up by Hilia.
Now, Lana’s situation didn’t seem so dire; there appeared to be some sort of protection around her.
Considering her previous situation, an audacious guess emerged in Elina’s mind.
If it’s Hilia... it might not be impossible.
Elina thought.
She didn’t speak out loud, just quietly kept an eye on Lana.
After replenishing Lana’s life energy, she continued providing energy to the other elves.
Much time passed, after completing the list, an Elf Elder led them away from the Elf Royal City, boarding a large aircraft heading north, vanishing over the horizon.
Candia watched, and after the aircraft disappeared, she sighed, "Hope everything goes smoothly."
Elina glanced at her and spoke irritably, "If you hadn’t offended Hi... I teamed up with her, we could have eliminated the pollution source long ago, and it wouldn’t have spread across the Elf Forest, causing the Elf Royal City to become such a mess."
Candia was displeased, "Elina, why do you hold such high expectations for a mixed-blood elf? She hasn’t received the blessing from the Elf God; how could she possibly solve the source of filth?"
Elina snorted, ready to retort, when a voice interrupted.
"Oh? Mixed-blood elf? Capable of solving pollution?"
Both looked over, seeing it was the Elf King.
The Elf King looked amusedly at Candia, "Seems like some things happened at the pollution source that I’m unaware of, Candia. Why not tell me?"
Candia’s gaze flickered and she spoke casually, "Just a minor thing; Elina once acquainted with a mixed-blood elf who secretly learned the Holy Court’s special Purification Skill, quite effective against such filth.
"However, despite its efficacy, the effect is limited, capable of cleansing only a small area of pollution, comparable to our purification efficiency. I don’t believe she has the ability to purify the pollution source. To prevent Elina from being influenced, gold coins were given to avoid her influence on Elina."
The Elf King looked at Elina, then continued questioning, "Does she have a divine blessing?"
Candia shook her head, "No, she’s just an ordinary mixed-blood elf, seemingly preparing to receive the coming-of-age blessing in the Elf Forest. According to her actions, she should already be in the Elf Royal City by now. She’s named Hilia, not sure if she’s completed the blessing."
The Elf King’s face revealed no expression, merely nodding, "Hmm."
And then he turned to Elina, asking, "Elina, what do you think?"
"Me? Didn’t I just say, Hi... certainly possesses the ability to purify pollution."
Saying that, Elina pouted, "Otherwise, do you think anyone could learn that kind of Purification Skill?"
"I see, then we’ll invite that mixed-blood elf to the Holy Tree. After all, we can’t hinder Elina from making friends, right?"
Candia added, "But that mixed-blood elf isn’t a simple mixed-blood; she was known in the human world. Last year, during the Mage League in Letes City, we saw her. She’s tinged with too much human breath, easily affecting the purity of divine blessings."
Elina got angry, "Purity, purity; do you understand the Elf God? Huh? Divine blessings aren’t so easily contaminated. You... hmph, forget it, I won’t talk to you anymore, do what you want, but I hope the King invites her politely."
The Elf King nodded, "Rest assured, the Elf Royal Family has always been friendly to friends."
Elina neither agreed nor disagreed.
Ha.
