Chapter 389 - 387: It’s Actually Her
"High Priest, I need your help."
Hilia blocked the way in front, looking at the other person.
The other slowly raised their head; Hilia’s vision blurred for a moment, and before she could get a good look, the "High Priest" jumped off the nearby railing and quickly left.
Hilia frowned, cast Light Body Technique and Swift Movement Skill on herself, and immediately chased after him.
Since she’d run into him, she had to get some answers out of him no matter what.
"Don’t run, High Priest! I really have something urgent to talk to you about."
Hilia shouted from behind.
She didn’t sprint at full speed, pretending to be just a Tier One Mage, making it look hard to keep up with the "High Priest."
In reality, she’d already secretly locked onto him with her Spiritual Power, making sure he wouldn’t escape her psychic lock range.
By using Mage’s Hand to manipulate her Spiritual Power, unless someone was stronger than Hilia, there was no way they’d notice.
The other seemed to realize Hilia was only a "Tier One Mage," and gradually slowed down his pace.
Seeing this, Hilia quickly caught up.
Soon, the two arrived at an undeveloped wild park.
The "High Priest" in front stopped, turned around, and looked at the "panting" Hilia.
The "High Priest’s" face was shrouded in a dense fog, making it impossible to see any features.
"What do you want? Spit it out."
He said.
The voice was still impossible to tell if it was male or female.
He wore a long robe, so you couldn’t tell by the figure either.
Anyway, the gender didn’t matter.
After catching up, Hilia hesitated for a moment and said, "Here’s the thing: I have a friend who’s seriously ill and wants the help of that beautiful Angel for treatment."
"You eavesdropped on my conversation?" the "High Priest" asked.
Hilia slowly walked closer, saying as she walked, "Come on, you guys were talking so loud, it would’ve been impossible to not hear you. I was looking for Grace because I heard her child was healed, so I’m here on behalf of my friend, to ask how they did it."
The "High Priest" stared at Hilia, his tone cold: "Stop approaching."
Hilia smirked, "Not gonna happen!"
As she spoke, Ice Shield Skill was already cast over the "High Priest’s" head.
Her wristband had already started recording; if the "High Priest" broke free and escaped, Hilia would just bring the recording to Benovia.
If someone knew Benovia’s whereabouts, they were either Benovia’s friend or enemy. Either way, as long as she showed Benovia the person’s fighting style, she figured Benovia could identify them.
Hilia’s sudden use of Ice Shield Skill caught the "High Priest" off guard, but he reacted quickly, and Water Magic Power burst out instantly.
Dark blue magic smashed into the Ice Shield, melting it in a strange way.
Then, the "High Priest" stepped out from the melting shield and ran straight off without looking back, moving even faster than before.
Hilia watched him escape with a thoughtful look, but didn’t bother to give chase.
"This magic power..."
It was peculiar—it looked like water element magic, but there was something a little different about it. If Hilia hadn’t left Mage’s Hand on the shield, she might not have noticed at all.
Coincidentally, this morning Hilia had just come into contact with this very kind of Water Magic Power.
She looked at the distant figure, flicked her hair behind her ear, and headed back to school.
"Better not tell Benovia who it is yet. Let me see if Benovia can guess who it is," Hilia thought.
Soon after, Benovia’s exam ended. Hilia found her and, in a quiet place, played back the recording of following the "High Priest" for Benovia to see.
Benovia tilted her head and clapped, "As expected of Hilia! I told you, if you’re on the job, you’ll definitely find them."
Benovia’s face was full of amazement. Clearly, even she hadn’t expected Hilia to actually find the "High Priest" she’d searched for so long without luck.
Hilia hurriedly explained, "It was just a coincidence! Maybe because you kept investigating before, the ’High Priest’ didn’t show up. Now that you gave up tracking, they finally got a chance to meet Grace."
Benovia laughed, "I didn’t give up investigating! That’s why I asked you to help, right?"
Hilia rolled her eyes, "So, can you tell who it is?"
Benovia watched the projection carefully. Only after the person escaped from Hilia’s Ice Shield did she shake her head, "Still can’t tell. But, judging from the voice and build, I think it’s probably a woman."
Hilia pondered for a bit, then asked, "If you find her, what will you do?"
Benovia blinked, "Not much, just confirm her identity and intentions, then give rewards or punishment depending on that."
Hilia told Benovia what she’d overheard, and after thinking for a moment, Benovia said, "It’s a bit annoying to be used like that, but if she only did this to get my attention—to save that mother’s child—then I’ll forgive her. Still, she knows my whereabouts so well, maybe I know her?"
Hilia thought for a while, and finally decided to share, "Based on her magic traces, I suspect she’s our classmate Shaline. Do you know Shaline?"
"Shaline?" Benovia thought carefully, then shook her head, "I don’t know her."
Hilia said, "Shaline is the only Tier Three Mage in our class apart from me—the one who sparred with me this morning."
Benovia was surprised, "So it’s her? She’s that strong?"
Hilia went on, "But this classmate usually has hardly any presence. If Ms. Ailina hadn’t mentioned that she was Tier Three, no one would have known there was a second Tier Three Mage in the class."
Benovia mused, "I’ll look into this Shaline’s background. For someone to become a Tier Three Mage so young, her identity must be anything but simple...even I’ve never heard of her."
Hilia said, "It’s just my guess though, I haven’t confirmed it myself, so I’m not sure. Don’t do anything rash."
Benovia nodded, "Don’t worry, I won’t. On the contrary, if she’s got a good heart, I’ll even try to befriend her... Who knows, maybe she’s with the Hiro Association?"
"Hiro Association?"
Hilia thought it over. Shaline’s actions really did seem like something the Hiro Association would do.
Whether she was or wasn’t, Hilia had no idea.
"Even if she isn’t, she’s worth making friends with." Benovia said, "For the operation against the Deep Sea Mutual Aid Association, all Tier Three Mages at school will participate. That means Shaline will be there, so we can approach her then and find out if it’s really her."
Hilia nodded, "Sure, sounds good. If that’s all, I’ll get going."
"Let’s have a meal together, Hilia—consider it my thanks."
"No need for food. I have exams tomorrow and need to prepare."
Hilia said, already getting ready to leave.
"There’s caviar, you know."
Hilia turned back, "Having a meal won’t affect my exam. Fine, let’s go, but I want two servings of caviar!"
