Chapter 430 - 428: The Holy Master Arrives
In the depths of the ocean, there was an unnamed small island.
On a huge rock by the shore stood two people, one in front and one behind. The one in front wore a mage robe and leaned on a Magic Staff; the one behind wore armor, carried two swords on his back, and stood with a respectful attitude.
The waves surged, yet they did not submerge the small island.
Demons ran rampant, yet they seemed not to notice them.
As the tides crashed in again and again, the mage in front asked flatly, "Still not here?"
The Sword Master behind him answered with a respectful face, "I don’t know."
The mage grew angry. "You don’t have a way to contact them?"
The Sword Master still replied respectfully, "We can’t connect to the Star Spirit Network here, so we can’t receive any messages."
"Besides the Star Spirit Network, there’s no other way to contact them?"
"There is, but I don’t know how."
"You..."
The mage fell silent for a moment, suppressing his anger. "Forget it, let’s go back and take a look. Hmph, a bunch of people who believe in fake Gods really are unreliable."
The Sword Master said respectfully, "I think we should stay put. This operation was initiated by that lord in response to the Deep Sea Mutual Aid Association’s request. We can handle it. Have you forgotten last time in the Land of the Far North, when that lord kicked you..."
Boom!
The Sword Master was sent flying with a kick.
The mage leisurely straightened his clothes and said blandly, "No matter what, this is our first joint operation. We’ll check that there are no problems. Unless the Holy Master personally shows up, otherwise we can leave whenever we like."
"That’s true, cough, cough, then..." The Sword Master rolled and crawled back, coughing nonstop.
"Let’s go."
"Yes, sir."
...
On the shore, Mr. Pharos casually tossed what remained of You Jelieya’s body onto the beach, then flew above the ruins of the lighthouse and landed.
He looked at Hilia, who was climbing out of the rubble, and was slightly stunned. "Hilia?"
Hilia patted the dust off herself, her gaze a bit evasive, and greeted, "Hello, Mr. Pharos."
Mr. Pharos asked, "Was that you just now?"
Hilia’s eyes flickered. "No, it was the Gods."
Mr. Pharos stared at her in silence.
Hilia sighed. "Fine, it was the Gods who told me to do it."
Mr. Pharos: "..."
Hilia said, "My apologies, Your Grace. I tore down your lighthouse. It was mainly because that was the only way to seriously wound that enemy."
As she spoke, something occurred to Hilia, and she added, "No, wait, there are also all the Magic Crystals from Letes City’s Protective Array."
The Protective Array hadn’t been destroyed, it had just exhausted all its energy.
As for the loss... about over a thousand Advanced Magic Crystals. One Magic Crystal cost around 20 Gold Coins. For a city, that should... not be much, right?
The amount of Magic Power needed to heavily injure a Tier Six Mage was anything but ordinary.
Mr. Pharos’s expression turned strange, as if he wanted to speak but held it back. After a long moment, he squeezed out a sentence. "As expected of Miss Xilia—accomplishing something others can’t with ease. In any case, thank you very much for your help. Without you, I might have been lured into the Deep Sea, and there might have been an ambush there."
Hilia said, "You’re welcome, as long as you don’t make me pay for it."
Mr. Pharos said, "How could I possibly make you pay? Exchanging one lighthouse for a severely wounded Tier Six enemy— even if the Holy Master and the Emperor were here, they would make the same choice without hesitation."
Hilia said, "And the Magic Crystals for the entire Protective Array."
"Still a great bargain!"
Hilia was finally relieved. "As long as you’re not coming after me for compensation. Please, Your Grace, keep guarding the coast. Let me handle Phil’s side."
Mr. Pharos immediately reacted. "Right, Phil."
As he spoke, he was about to leave.
Hilia hurriedly said, "Please wait, Your Grace. Benovia just told me that you’ve already burned away most of her corruption. Phil’s constitution is different from others; she’s been using corruption to temper herself all year round. There’s no need to worry. The Gods will protect her.
"Compared to Phil’s condition, the situation at the coast is more pressing. We’re already at the tail end of the demon assault; no one knows whether a Tier Five or even Tier Six Demon will appear."
Mr. Pharos frowned and was about to say something when Hilia continued, "Mr. Blake just replied to me. The Holy Master is coming. Phil is the future Holy Court Saintess, so the Holy Master will protect her."
Mr. Pharos’s frown smoothed out and he nodded. "Very well, then I’ll stand guard over Truth. When the Holy Master arrives, help me deliver a message. If the Holy Master can cure Phil, Letes City will forever be loyal to the Holy Court and never betray it."
"Alright." Hilia grabbed her Flying Broom and flew toward the city center.
With Mr. Pharos here, unless some monster above Tier Six showed up among the Deep Sea Demons, nothing would happen.
Of course, if a Demon above Tier Six did show up, it wouldn’t matter who came.
Since this involved a friend, Hilia flew very fast (being carried by Rose), and quickly returned to the city center, to where Phil had caused trouble.
By now Phil’s frenzy had entered its final stage.
She had nearly exhausted the Magic Power in the Thunder Cage that Mr. Pharos had casually set up, and her own strength was almost fully drained as well. Just as Hilia arrived, she saw Phil shatter the Thunder Cage, then close her eyes and fall.
Hilia dashed over, caught her, and slowly descended.
Benovia, who had been observing in the shadows for a long time, walked out and asked, "Hilia, how is it? Phil’s condition..."
Hilia said, "Shouldn’t you be clearer than me? You were there the whole time."
Benovia said innocently, "I don’t know much about heretical knowledge. You’re the one dealing with heretics every day; you should know better than me."
Hilia opened her mouth but had nothing to say.
Benovia was right. Come to think of it, it was odd. Every time she went out, she somehow ended up dealing with heretics.
Especially after the Mage League—take a few random steps and she’d either stumble onto a heretical stronghold or catch some heretics committing atrocities.
Hilia decided not to pursue the topic. "Phil’s situation is rather special. Her body is compatible with the power of corruption. That massive amount of corruption will indeed have some impact on her, but as long as she releases it all, it’s not a big problem. At most, she’ll need some time to recuperate."
"Ahem, looks like I’m a step late."
Benovia was about to say something when a voice came from the side.
The two of them turned and immediately recognized the newcomer at a glance.
"Holy Master?"
The Holy Master looked at the two and smiled. "Looks like even without me, you all can handle things just fine. As expected of the ones we chose."
Benovia asked curiously, "Holy Master, you’re busy with a thousand affairs a day. How do you have time to come here?"
"With something this big happening, not coming would be dereliction of duty." The Holy Master shook his head and stroked his beard.
A candidate Holy Daughter captured by a heretical cult as a sacrifice; over a hundred heretical sacrificial Arrays erupting within the city, draining the souls of all its residents; a mysterious Tier Six heretic appearing; and the attack of Deep Sea Demons—any one of these events would be shocking enough, let alone three happening at once. No matter how busy he was, he had to come in person.
Hilia smiled. "Holy Master, you’ve come at just the right time. I... through Letes City’s Protective Array, discovered two sneaky high-level heretics rushing over. We need you to deal with them."
The Holy Master’s expression turned stern as he immediately released his perception and quickly located the two heretics Hilia mentioned.
The scepter representing the highest authority of the Holy Court slammed down heavily!
"Hmph, you came at the right time!"
