Chapter 4: Control
Before Ronan could think any further, his Vampire master stepped out of the mansion.
This time, a dangerous aura surrounded him as he walked past the Ghoul army, his cold eyes fixed ahead.
Even without saying a single word, Ronan could tell that something major was happening.
Then he saw it.
The Ghoul army turned around and began marching.
For the first time, Ronan truly experienced the Vampire’s authority as he felt his own body move on its own.
Ronan’s expression changed instantly.
If dying twice had only left him stunned before...
Now, genuine fear gripped him.
The first thing Ronan had to do was break free from his master’s control.
There were only two ways to achieve that.
The first...
His Vampire master had to die.
The second...
He had to surpass him.
"Scan," Ronan thought as he looked at his master’s back.

"Damn..."
Ronan’s eyes widened.
This was ridiculously powerful.
No wonder...
But when he thought about his own status, he couldn’t help but sigh.
This was the status of a boss.
Meanwhile, he...
He wasn’t even a mob.
He was practically background decoration.
Even his fellow Ghouls could easily beat him.
"Life really isn’t fair," Ronan muttered as he looked up at the crimson sky.
It wasn’t beautiful at all.
Rolling his eyes, he focused ahead once more.
He sensed multiple powerful auras converging as the small Ghoul army continued expanding.
Soon, more and more Vampires gathered around them, and the Ghoul army came to a halt.
Ronan looked around.
There were nearly two hundred Ghouls now.
To him, that was an enormous number.
They waited silently while the Vampires discussed something among themselves.
Every single one of them was at least Sovereign One Star.
Ronan’s mind raced as he searched desperately for a solution.
First and foremost...
He had to escape his master’s control.
After all, his life and death rested entirely in the Vampire’s hands.
The undead could kill him with a single thought.
Soon, the discussion seemed to end.
The dozen or so Vampires began leading the Ghoul army once more, this time toward the farthest part of the enormous Vampire settlement.
It didn’t take long before they arrived.
Ronan took a sharp breath.
Standing before them was a swirling portal nearly three meters tall, glowing with an ominous crimson light.
Ronan couldn’t help but gulp.
He knew exactly what it was.
At least...
According to this body’s memories.
This was known as a Pathway.
Countless Pathways were scattered throughout the Abyss.
Without exception, every one of them connected to the Human World.
These were the very gates the Abyss used to invade human kingdoms, slaughter countless lives, and plunder everything in their path.
It had become a massive headache for the gods.
After all, these Pathways weren’t created by some powerful Abyssal being.
They were formed by the Abyss itself.
Even severing space couldn’t completely stop them from randomly spawning.
For Ronan...
This meant only one thing.
They were about to invade the Human World.
And more importantly...
He would be invading alongside them.
Now, he wasn’t human anymore.
Even if he tried to explain himself, no one would believe him.
At best, they’d kill him on sight.
He had to prepare himself mentally.
Humans would definitely try to kill him.
How could he not fight back?
Especially now that he possessed a system capable of making him stronger by absorbing the racial Traits of every creature he killed.
Yes...
Right now, Ronan was weak.
Perhaps...
The weakest Ghoul.
Wait...
Was he the weakest Ghoul in history?
"...Fuck."
Ronan shook his head.
He was getting distracted again.
Maybe he was weak for now.
Maybe his life and death rested in his master’s hands.
But...
He was a transmigrator.
And he had a cheat.
No matter how terrible his starting point was...
Didn’t every great legend begin from the bottom?
Ronan believed he could overcome everything.
He would become the strongest being in existence.
Then spend his days surrounded by fine wine...
And gorgeous women.
Ronan couldn’t help but daydream as a trail of drool slipped from the corner of his mouth.
"March."
A cold voice suddenly echoed through the air.
Like soulless zombies, the Ghoul army began moving once again.
Ronan snapped out of his fantasy and hurried after them.
Whatever his goal was...
Whatever dream he wished to achieve...
It all began the moment he stepped through this portal.
Ronan clenched his fist.
"Beautiful women and exquisite wine... here I come."
With that thought, he followed the Ghoul army into the crimson portal.
********
Ronan only felt the world twist around him as dizziness overwhelmed his senses.
The next moment, he arrived on a cold stone pavement.
Almost instantly, Ronan felt his body relax.
The gravity here was several times lighter than in the Abyss.
Then...
Fresh air filled his lungs.
Tears welled up in Ronan’s eyes.
It had only been some hours since he became an Abyssal creature, yet the difference felt overwhelming.
The Abyss was like a forbidden wilderness where the terrain itself was deadly, and every single step was a battle for survival.
At that moment, Ronan wanted nothing more than to stay here forever and never return to the Abyss.
Then, from behind him, he sensed the presence of the Vampire masters.
His body jolted
Only then did his surroundings come into view.
A few hundred meters ahead stood a towering stone wall surrounding a small town.
From within, the voices of humans could be heard, while warm lights illuminated the settlement, making it the only source of brightness in the dark surroundings.
A massive gate stood before them.
Human guards patrolled the walls, vigilantly searching for danger, prepared to defend the town at a moment’s notice.
"Attack."
The command rang out.
Once again, Ronan lost control of his body.
Together with the Ghoul horde, he charged forward with savage growls.
"Enemy attack!"
"Enemy attack!"
Loud shouts instantly erupted across the walls as the guards raised the alarm.
Meanwhile, the Vampires silently melted into the darkness.
"Shit..."
Feeling his body move against his own will once again, Ronan could only curse helplessly.
