Chapter 10: A way to Escape
"Grrr..."
Ronan roared as he grabbed the human child and walked toward the equipment.
Let’s be realistic here.
What could he do?
He had awakened his System less than a day ago.
He had a trait, yes, but it hadn’t evolved yet.
Not to mention the fact that Ronan was the weakest Ghoul ever.
His enemy wasn’t a mindless Ghoul but a Vampire in the Sovereign Realm, which was even above the Transcendent Realm.
It would be foolish to think he could do anything.
Yet his gaze rested on the child as he sighed.
Then he placed the child into the equipment as it closed shut.
Blood immediately began to flow out as Levit walked closer to the equipment and bent down, watching the bucket slowly fill with blood.
Levit licked his lips as an intense craving appeared on his face.
Meanwhile, Ronan sighed as he took a deep breath.
No...
Really, what was he doing?
Feeling pity for a child he didn’t even know?
Hell, he wasn’t even human anymore, and he had to quickly adapt to this reality, or it would do more harm than good.
Maybe there was a reason he had died a second time.
Maybe he wasn’t a "good" person in the traditional sense.
Maybe it was more fitting for him to be an undead creature.
Soon, the small bucket was filled, and the child inside the equipment had long since died.
Levit pulled out a sleek wine glass from his robes and dipped it into the bucket before scooping some of the blood into it.
He gently swirled it with a wild smile.
"The taste of the pure ones is always the best."
Levit couldn’t help but say as he savored the taste while Ronan fought the urge to vomit.
"Don’t you agree?"
This time, Levit turned to Ronan and asked.
Ronan stood frozen before gulping.
How would he know?
He was a Ghoul—or rather, he had only just become one.
He hadn’t even tasted flesh before.
"Heh... vile beast. I forgot you are just a mindless puppet."
Levit muttered as he clicked his tongue before drinking the last drop of blood.
But then, his eyebrows furrowed.
"I can’t remember where I found you. You have to be the weakest Ghoul I know of."
Levit muttered as intense fear gripped Ronan.
His skin crawled as those crimson eyes locked onto him.
Scanning him.
Trying to find his weakness.
Finally, Levit looked away.
But his hand had already grabbed Ronan by the neck as he lifted him into the air.
"I can’t have such a weak Ghoul. You are even weaker than humans. Are you some mutated hybrid?"
Levit lifted Ronan effortlessly, as though he weighed no more than a sheet of paper, as he muttered.
Each word struck Ronan like a hammer as his secret was slowly exposed.
Even he knew that being the weakest would raise suspicion, and he had tried his best to hide it.
But who knew he would be discovered at this moment?
Was this the end?
Ronan couldn’t help but think as the massive force tightened around his neck.
His lungs were squeezed shut as his body trembled.
"No... not yet..."
"I can’t die..."
"I haven’t even lived for a day..."
"Argh... I haven’t even touched those bad booty bitches..."
"Fuck... I haven’t conquered this world..."
"I am a transmigrator, damn it!"
At that moment, Ronan burst forth with terrifying power beyond his Realm as he flailed his legs wildly.
But alas...
He was being held by a Sovereign Realm being.
No matter what he did, it was useless.
Just as Ronan felt himself slowly losing consciousness, the ground suddenly trembled.
Not only beneath the Vampire castle...
But throughout the entire Abyss.
"What is happening?"
Levit muttered in shock.
For a brief moment, he stood there, still suffocating Ronan.
But those few seconds were enough to grant Ronan a little more time.
Boom!!!
A deafening explosion that shook the realm echoed throughout the Abyss.
Light poured down from above, so blinding that the undead creatures instinctively shut their eyes as the Ghouls growled.
The Abyss had always been dim and dark.
But now...
It was as though a sun had suddenly appeared.
Buildings collapsed one after another as the ground continued to shake.
"Rafa... your time has come!"
A thunderous voice echoed across the Abyss as a scene Ronan would never forget appeared above him.
A blinding longsword, carrying an overwhelming divine aura, slashed apart the sky in two and plunged deep into the Abyss.
Then he saw humans pour in like a plague as they attacked one undead creature after another.
Should Ronan consider himself lucky or unlucky?
The sword light passed by their courtyard, creating a long ravine hundreds of kilometers wide that stretched as far as the eye could see.
A terrifying energy lingered behind it, tearing apart space itself.
The closest undead creatures groaned in discomfort just from being near it, while those caught directly in its path had been completely vaporized.
"Are the humans insane? How dare they attack the Abyss?!"
Levit roared in rage as he looked at the human army pouring into the Abyss through a giant portal.
Their armor shone beneath the bright light filling the sky as the Abyss responded in kind, with Ghouls and Vampires charging into battle.
"Die, you vile creature!"
A loud human shout echoed as a figure descended from the sky.
His aura was at the Peak Sovereign Realm, and his target was Levit, whose mansion was now exposed to the outside world after being destroyed by the earthquake.
"Foolish being."
Levit sneered as he flew into the sky to meet the descending human.
Paohhh...
Boom!!
A terrifying shockwave slammed into the ground, scattering the upper layer of earth as cracks spread in every direction.
Most of the creatures that were still alive were instantly killed, while those who survived were left severely injured.
Among them was Ronan, whose body had almost been torn in half, his flesh mangled and his bones shattered as he fell onto the ground.
Thankfully, Ronan was a Ghoul and couldn’t feel pain.
Otherwise, he would have been screaming like a hysterical pig.
But even though he couldn’t feel pain, things weren’t looking good for Ronan.
He could feel his body growing weaker, and with every passing moment, he felt himself inching closer to death.
Meanwhile, high in the sky, Levit and the human clashed, breaking the sound barrier as one shockwave after another spread across the battlefield—stronger, faster, and more destructive.
For the first time, Ronan truly witnessed the strength of Sovereign Realm beings.
They had surpassed the speed of sound.
"I will die if this continues..."
Ronan couldn’t help but think as he lay on the ground.
He couldn’t move his body.
Almost all of his bones were broken.
Was this the end?
Just as Ronan wondered that, a red liquid caught his eye.
Just above him was the bucket containing the child’s blood, slightly tilted toward the crater where Ronan lay.
In just a few seconds, the blood would flow down and pour directly onto Ronan’s face.
He would probably end up being bathed in it.
Ronan couldn’t help but lament how cruel life was.
But just then, his eyes lit up.
He remembered the trait he possessed.
Blood Sucking Lv.0.
Although Ronan wasn’t a Vampire...
At least, not yet...
He still possessed the trait.
And according to the System, if he killed Vampires, the level of the trait would increase.
The higher its level, the more abilities it would unlock, and the greater its effects on his body.
Vampires drank blood, didn’t they?
And they could use it as a substitute to heal themselves for a time.
So...
What if he did the same?
What if he used it to replace his Essence?
The little Essence he had possessed had already been consumed just to keep him alive.
Otherwise, he would already be dead.
Right now, Ronan had zero Essence.
But with this blood...
He might be able to recover.
Not only save his own life...
But with Levit occupied, and the portal to the human world still open...
Wouldn’t this be his chance to escape from Levit?
And officially begin his journey of growth?
But the more Ronan thought about it, the more he frowned.
This was a child’s blood.
The same child he had just killed.
Although he had been ordered to do it...
Ronan had still done it.
He was the one who placed the child into that machine and watched as he was drained dry.
And now...
That same child’s blood could save his life.
Now he had to choose.
Should he drink it and save himself?
Or would the guilt be too much for him to bear?
He had only been human a few hours ago.
The time was simply too short for him to adapt to the life of a Ghoul.
Although he possessed the body of one...
Inside, he was still human.
And now...
That human had to make a choice.
At that moment, the first drop of blood reached the edge of the tilted bucket as Ronan’s expression continued to change.
"Damn it..."
"I choose..."
