Chapter 105 - sword spirit dilemma
The ancient sword spirit was completely confused.
When he was still alive, thousands of people had dreamed of getting even a glimpse of his swordsmanship.
His sword art had once been considered one of the greatest inheritances in the entire kingdom.
Countless swordsmen would have given anything for the opportunity standing before Gray and Luna.
Yet these two children...
Had rejected him twice.
The sword spirit took a deep breath and forced himself to calm down.
Then he spoke proudly.
"Hey, brat."
"This is an SSS+ Sword Art."
"It surpasses almost every other sword art in existence."
"It is an honor for you to even speak with me."
"Do you even understand who you are talking to?"
I looked directly into his eyes.
Then I sighed.
"Old man..."
"Why are you so annoying?"
"I already told you I don’t want it."
"You’re like a roadside beggar who doesn’t understand the meaning of the word ’no.’"
Silence.
Luna immediately covered her mouth.
She couldn’t hold back anymore.
"Pfft..."
She burst into laughter.
Isabella also turned her face slightly, clearly trying to suppress her laughter.
Amy, however, had absolutely no restraint.
"Hahaha!"
She laughed without holding anything back.
The sword spirit’s face slowly turned red with rage.
"Hmph!"
"Fine!"
"Then it’s your loss!"
He turned toward Luna.
"What about you, girl?"
"This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity!"
"Do you want to inherit my sword art?"
This time, Luna actually fell into deep thought.
She was tempted.
An SSS+ Sword Art was undoubtedly an incredible opportunity.
But then she remembered something.
She remembered training with Gray.
She remembered the countless times they had experimented with different techniques together.
Trying new sword movements.
Creating combinations.
Learning from their mistakes.
There was no inheritance guiding her.
No legendary sword art teaching her every movement.
And yet...
She had enjoyed every moment of it.
She loved learning alongside Gray.
She loved creating her own techniques.
Why would she throw all of that away just because someone offered her a powerful inheritance?
Luna looked back toward the old sword spirit.
Her eyes were calm.
"No, thank you, old man."
"I’m good."
"I want to train my swordsmanship with Gray."
"I don’t want to spend my time practicing your boring sword art."
The sword spirit froze.
A massive question mark practically appeared above his head.
He stared at Luna.
Then he looked toward the empty space beside him.
Then back at Luna.
Another refusal.
His expression slowly twisted.
"..."
"Hey..."
"Little girl..."
"Is this a joke to you?"
I casually added from the side.
"Yeah."
The sword spirit’s face turned red again.
This time, even Isabella couldn’t hold back.
"Hahaha!"
Amy and Elena also burst into laughter.
Luna covered her mouth and laughed along with them.
The sword spirit trembled with rage.
"Hey!"
"You ignorant girl!"
"You ignorant brat!"
"How dare you make fun of me?!"
"Do you know who I am?!"
"I was once a high noble of this kingdom!"
"I was a Sword Saint!"
"You lowly little—"
His voice suddenly stopped.
The smiles disappeared from Isabella’s face.
Her expression became completely cold.
She slowly drew her sword.
The blade came to rest directly in front of the sword spirit.
Her voice was calm.
But there was not a trace of warmth in it.
"Old man."
"Know your place."
"Who exactly are you calling lowly?"
Her eyes narrowed.
"If you say another word about my little sister..."
"Or her fiancé..."
"I will make you pay for it."
"I’ll make sure none of your descendants remain in this kingdom."
The temperature in the room seemed to drop.
I stared at Isabella.
For a moment...
She didn’t even look like the gentle older sister I knew.
The sword spirit frowned.
"Hey, little girl."
"What do you think you can do to me?"
"And my descendants?"
"Do you really think you are worthy of threatening them?"
Before Isabella could respond—
A shadow suddenly appeared behind the sword spirit.
The Royal Guard assigned to protect us stepped forward.
A sword immediately rested against the sword spirit’s neck.
Her voice was cold.
"Speak with respect to the Crown Princess."
"Or else..."
She didn’t even need to finish the sentence.
The sword spirit’s expression changed.
His eyes widened.
"...Crown Princess?"
Isabella calmly nodded.
"Yes."
"I am the Crown Princess of this kingdom."
"Isabella von Valtherion."
The sword spirit’s entire expression changed.
For the first time since awakening...
He felt genuine terror.
He didn’t care much about his own life.
He was already dead, after all.
But his descendants...
Insulting a Crown Princess was an entirely different matter.
It could bring disaster upon his entire bloodline.
His attitude immediately changed.
"I..."
"I apologize."
He lowered his head toward Isabella.
"And to you as well, Lady Luna."
"I apologize for my words."
He then looked toward me.
"And to you, young master."
"I apologize."
I simply waved my hand.
"It’s fine."
There was no point continuing the argument.
Instead, I looked toward Isabella.
"Sister Isabella."
"What if we take his sword art?"
I glanced toward the sword spirit.
"He said it’s an SSS+ Sword Art."
"That sounds pretty valuable."
"I personally don’t rely on other people’s sword arts or inheritances."
"But there are probably plenty of people who would kill for something like this."
"We could take it and give it to the Empress."
Isabella thought about it for a moment.
Then she nodded.
"Hm."
"That is a good idea."
The sword spirit stared at us in disbelief.
Nobody had even bothered asking for his opinion.
The mighty Sword Saint who had once stood at the peak of the kingdom...
Now looked like a helpless old man who had just realized that his greatest inheritance was being taken away after being rejected twice.
Even the Royal Guard continued watching him like a troublesome child.
The sword spirit could only remain silent.
His dignity...
Was completely gone.
I stored most of the treasures inside my Space Storage before walking over to Luna.
We talked about everything that had happened inside the ruins.
The traps.
The monsters.
The Minotaur.
The treasure room.
And, of course...
The sword spirit.
As we talked, Luna and I couldn’t help laughing at some of the ridiculous moments.
Amy followed behind us.
She had clearly wanted to step in earlier when the sword spirit insulted us, but she knew Isabella had already handled the situation.
So she remained where she was, watching the sword spirit with a cold expression.
Meanwhile, the Royal Guard had already extracted the sword art from the sword spirit’s inheritance.
She handed it to Isabella.
Isabella looked at it for a moment before turning toward me.
"Keep this for now."
I nodded.
"Okay."
I stored the inheritance inside my Space Storage.
With everything settled, we finally left the ruins.
As soon as we stepped outside, Elena approached Luna and amy come to my side and we bickered until we going to the carriage.
And Elena ask luna
"So, how was today?"
"Did you have fun?"
Luna immediately nodded.
"Yeah!"
"Today was really fun."
"I haven’t had this much fun in a long time."
Elena smiled warmly.
She reached over and gently brushed Luna’s hair.
"I’m glad you had fun."
"I noticed you’ve seemed a little down these past few months."
"Especially before Amy and Gray came into your life."
Luna’s smile softened.
"Yeah..."
She lowered her gaze slightly.
"I’ve been thinking about Big Sister."
"She’ll be going to the academy soon."
"After that..."
"I won’t be able to see her as often."
Elena finally understood.
So that was why Luna had seemed so down recently.
She smiled gently.
"Don’t be like that."
"Even if Isabella goes to the academy, that doesn’t mean you won’t be able to see her."
"If you miss her..."
"We can always go visit her."
Luna’s eyes brightened.
"Really?"
Elena nodded.
"Of course."
A small smile returned to Luna’s face.
"Then..."
"I’ll look forward to it."
I watched the two of them for a moment before smiling as well.
Soon, we all climbed into the carriage.
The doors closed behind us.
The horses began moving.
And just like that...
Our ruin-hunting adventure came to an end.
As the carriage traveled back toward the Imperial Manor, Luna continued chatting happily with everyone.
The atmosphere inside the carriage was peaceful.
After everything that had happened today...
It felt nice.
No battles.
No assassinations.
No angry sword spirits.
Just us...
Talking and laughing together on the way home.
