Chapter 70 - dungeon 3
Amy and I continued deeper into the dungeon.
Not long afterward, my perception suddenly detected something unusual.
I immediately stopped walking.
"Hm?"
Amy turned toward me.
"What is it?"
Instead of answering, I slowly walked toward the cave wall.
The closer I got...
The clearer it became.
There was definitely something hidden behind it.
I placed my hand against the cold stone and closed my eyes for a brief moment.
"...There’s something behind this wall."
Amy looked surprised.
"A hidden room?"
I nodded.
"I can clearly sense an empty space behind it."
Amy smiled.
"It must be one of the hidden treasure rooms."
"Sometimes dungeons have secret rooms like this that contain loot."
"Let’s check it out."
Without another word, she formed an Ice Gauntlet around her fist.
A cold aura spread through the cave as the gauntlet solidified.
Then—
Boom!
She threw a single punch.
The wall shattered into countless pieces as if it had been made of brittle glass.
Dust filled the air.
I stared at the destroyed wall in complete silence.
"..."
Amy noticed my expression.
"What are you looking at?"
I quickly waved my hand.
"Nothing."
"I just made a mental note..."
"Never get punched by you."
Amy burst into laughter.
"Oh, little brother."
"As long as you behave yourself..."
"Your amazing big sister won’t need to use violence."
She smiled while rubbing her head affectionately.
A chill immediately ran down my spine.
I silently prayed that day would never come.
Once the dust settled, we walked inside.
The room wasn’t very large.
A single sword rested on a worn stone pedestal.
Beside it lay several gold coins.
Amy gave me a thumbs-up.
"Nice find, Gray."
"Let’s take everything and continue."
I nodded.
The moment I touched them, both the sword and the coins disappeared into my Space Storage.
Then we continued exploring.
...
After walking for several more minutes, my perception detected a much larger group of monsters ahead.
I immediately stopped.
Amy noticed my expression.
"What did you find?"
"Goblins."
"A lot of them."
"More than twenty."
Amy peeked from behind a large rock before smiling.
"So..."
She looked at me with amusement.
"What are you waiting for?"
"If you want..."
"You can always ask your amazing big sister for help."
"Just say..."
"’My amazing big sister, please save your poor younger brother.’"
"Then..."
"I might consider helping."
I looked at her speechlessly.
"...No thanks."
Instead of charging in, I quietly observed the entire area.
There were over twenty goblins.
Fighting all of them at once would be foolish.
"..."
An idea slowly formed in my mind.
"I’ll become an assassin."
Amy simply crossed her arms and watched.
Without another word, I allowed Darkness Mana to spread across my body.
Instead of using it offensively...
I wrapped myself in darkness, concealing my presence.
At the same time, I reduced the gravity around my body, making myself lighter.
My footsteps became almost silent.
Then I slowly slipped behind the first isolated goblin.
It never noticed me.
I gripped Eclipse tightly.
Stab.
The blade pierced straight through its heart.
Before the body could even fall...
I stored it inside my Space Storage.
No corpse.
No blood.
No evidence.
I immediately moved toward my next target.
This time...
Slash.
The goblin’s head separated cleanly from its body.
Once again, the corpse vanished into my Space Storage before anyone noticed.
Amy watched everything from a distance.
She remained ready to intervene at any moment.
But a satisfied smile gradually appeared on her face.
I continued moving through the shadows.
Soon I found another goblin.
Unfortunately...
This one wasn’t alone.
Two goblins were talking together.
Instead of attacking immediately, I patiently waited.
Eventually...
One of them turned around.
That instant—
I condensed Darkness Mana into a small bullet.
Unlike my Ice Spears...
This attack was smaller.
Faster.
More precise.
Whoosh!
The Darkness Bullet pierced straight through the goblin’s heart.
Before the second goblin could react...
I was already behind it.
Slash.
Its head fell to the ground.
Once again...
Both corpses disappeared into Space Storage.
The entire process remained almost completely silent.
I paused for a moment.
"..."
For some reason...
I enjoyed this.
Planning.
Observing.
Executing everything perfectly.
I wasn’t enjoying killing...
I was enjoying the strategy behind it.
Still...
As long as my actions never caused trouble for Mother...
Amy...
Or Astrid...
I didn’t care.
I continued eliminating the goblins one after another.
Before long...
Only a handful remained.
That’s when my perception detected a stronger presence inside the largest hut.
A Goblin Lord.
F-Rank Plus.
I narrowed my eyes.
"...I can’t kill that one with a single attack."
Only four ordinary goblins were still alive.
Since I had stored every corpse...
The Goblin Lord hadn’t noticed anything unusual.
Goblin intelligence was fairly low.
Otherwise, it would have realized half of its subordinates had mysteriously disappeared.
I quietly eliminated one more goblin.
This time...
The Goblin Lord finally noticed me.
"GRAAAAH!"
It roared loudly before pointing its crude wooden club toward me.
The remaining goblins immediately rushed in my direction.
I sighed softly.
"So much for stealth."
The darkness surrounding my body disappeared.
I slowly raised Eclipse.
Then entered my stance.
The battle had finally begun.
The three remaining goblins immediately surrounded me.
Rather than staying where I was, I instantly charged toward the goblin farthest from the other two.
If I stayed surrounded, they would overwhelm me.
I had to reduce their numbers as quickly as possible.
The goblin swung its rusty sword toward me.
Clang!
I blocked the attack with Eclipse.
The impact pushed me back slightly, but I had already prepared my next move.
An Ice Spear silently formed beside me.
With my perception guiding its trajectory...
Shoot!
The spear flew straight past our locked weapons and pierced the goblin’s head.
It collapsed instantly.
Without wasting a second, I stored the corpse inside my Space Storage.
Now...
Only two goblins and the Goblin Lord remained.
The two ordinary goblins rushed toward me together.
I immediately reduced the gravity around my body and kicked off the ground.
My body became lighter, allowing me to retreat much farther than usual.
The moment I created enough distance, I restored my normal gravity and steadied my footing.
Three Ice Spears appeared around me.
"Go!"
The spears shot toward my enemies.
The Goblin Lord roared and swung its heavy wooden club.
Bang!
Bang!
Bang!
All three Ice Spears shattered before reaching it.
"...As expected."
It was much stronger than the ordinary goblins.
But that wasn’t my real objective.
While it was busy destroying the Ice Spears...
I rushed toward one of the remaining goblins.
Slash!
My sword flashed through the air.
The goblin barely managed to block the attack.
At the same time...
I condensed another Darkness Bullet.
Whoosh!
The small projectile pierced through the goblin’s chest before it could react.
It fell to the ground instantly.
Only one ordinary goblin remained.
Before it could even process what had happened, I stepped forward.
Gravity Control made Eclipse nearly weightless.
My sword accelerated.
Slash!
Its head flew into the air.
I stored the final corpse without hesitation.
Now...
Only the Goblin Lord remained.
The creature let out an angry roar and charged toward me.
I decided to test its defenses first.
Several Ice Spears formed behind me.
"Shoot!"
The Goblin Lord didn’t even try to dodge.
Instead, it swung its club with tremendous force.
Boom!
Every Ice Spear shattered into countless ice fragments.
Its strength was clearly on another level.
Without giving me time to think, it rushed straight at me.
Clang!
Our weapons collided.
The impact traveled through my entire body.
It was incredibly powerful.
I quickly used Gravity Control to make Eclipse heavier at the moment of impact.
The sudden increase in weight allowed me to push the Goblin Lord backward slightly.
I immediately followed with another slash.
Then another.
And another.
Each strike landed on different parts of its body.
Although its skin was surprisingly tough, countless wounds slowly began appearing across its body.
However...
My own condition wasn’t much better.
My breathing became heavier.
My mana was rapidly running out.
Just as I was preparing my next attack...
The Goblin Lord suddenly stretched out its hand.
A crimson magic circle appeared before it.
"...Fire Magic?"
The next instant...
A blazing Fireball shot toward me.
Instead of dodging...
I raised my free hand.
"Devour."
Darkness immediately wrapped around the incoming spell.
The flames violently struggled against my skill.
For a brief moment, it felt as though my entire arm would be burned away.
"...Come on..."
I gritted my teeth and poured more mana into Devour.
Little by little...
The Fireball shrank.
Its flames weakened.
Finally...
The spell completely disappeared.
I had successfully devoured it.
But the moment my concentration broke...
The Goblin Lord was already in front of me.
It had used that Fireball as a distraction.
Boom!
Its wooden club slammed directly into my chest.
"Ugh...!"
A mouthful of blood burst from my lips as my body was thrown backward.
Pain exploded throughout my body.
Even breathing became difficult.
But...
I refused to fall.
Using the momentum from the blow, I pushed myself forward one last time.
I gripped Eclipse with both hands.
The blade pierced straight toward the Goblin Lord’s chest.
Clang!
It stopped halfway.
Its skin was simply too tough.
"...Not enough!"
I activated Gravity Control with everything I had left.
Every remaining drop of mana surged into Eclipse.
The gravity surrounding the blade increased dramatically.
Crack!
The sword forced its way through the Goblin Lord’s defenses.
Then...
It pierced straight through its heart.
The Goblin Lord froze.
Its body trembled for a moment before collapsing to the ground.
At the same time, my legs finally gave out.
Just before I hit the ground...
Someone caught me.
"Gray."
Amy gently supported my body.
A proud smile appeared on her face.
"You did well."
"I’m proud of you, little brother."
Despite the pain spreading through my body, I couldn’t help smiling back.
"...I’m fine."
The moment Eclipse absorbed the Goblin Lord’s blood...
Warm energy flowed through my body once again.
My injuries slowly began healing.
Watching the wounds close before her eyes, Amy let out a relieved sigh.
Then she smiled.
"Looks like you’ll really be fine."
