Chapter 2700: Awarding Merit, The Charisma of a Leader
Balete escaped, but the team he led was utterly defeated.
After the pursuit ended, Balther Weiss gathered everyone together, moved them to a safe place, and began to tally the battle results.
Though it was a fierce battle, not many died, yet thirty-eight tags were lost!
In this battle, the Demon Race team achieved a major victory.
Carson Flores took out the three tags he obtained in the formation without holding back for himself.
Earlier what he gained was his own, but collective actions require collective rules.
Balther Weiss glanced at the tags Carson presented and did not immediately reach out to take them. Instead, he asked, "Did you obtain these three tags through your own efforts?"
Carson nodded, "Yes, in the Eight Desolation Fire Spirit Formation, I held a significant advantage, coming and going freely."
Balther Weiss showed a smile, "In this battle, you were the most contributive. If it wasn’t for you trapping Balete and others with the Eight Desolation Fire Spirit Formation, we wouldn’t have achieved such great results."
Balther Weiss pulled out two tags and handed them to Carson, saying with a smile, "Merit deserves reward; your three tags, plus these two, make a total of five, as your reward for this battle."
Carson was slightly startled and said, "Everyone fought hard in this battle, with me taking five tags; won’t the tags be insufficient?"
Balther Weiss smiled, "We all entered this place shedding blood for the glory of the Demon Race. Primarily, we seek victory in the whole battle; personal glory is secondary."
"The total number of tags is the victory condition, while the personal contribution in this collective warfare determines individual rewards."
"In this battle, we were initially at a slight disadvantage, but thanks to the formations and traps from a few of you, we turned the tide. Your trapping them gained us time to crush their team, earning the greatest merit and deserving reward."
"I believe other team members would also recognize this. What do you all think? If anyone disagrees with my opinion, please speak up now."
Everyone voiced their support.
"Captain, you’re right. If Balete and others hadn’t been held up, we couldn’t have defeated them so quickly. Carson indeed contributed the most and should be heavily rewarded."
"Support the captain’s allocation!"
"No objections!"
"It’s deserved!"
Balther Weiss smiled slightly, "You see, everyone agrees."
Having reached this point, Carson stopped being modest, accepting the tags, and said with a smile, "Then I graciously accept, thank you, everyone!"
Balther Weiss laughed, "Keep up the good work; your Eight Desolation Fire Spirit Formation is very powerful. If you lack formation materials or other necessities, inform me promptly."
"Okay!"
Balther Weiss continued distributing other tags. Not everyone received them, after all, there were only thirty-eight tags for fifty people.
Balther Weiss’s allocation was very fair; those fighting at the front, strongest in ability, and having the greatest contributions received tags.
Holy Son Eolan Lorcan received two tags, Niall Sinclair one, and Samir Coffey was orally credited with half a merit, to be rewarded further in the future.
Samir Coffey’s strength wasn’t low, but compared to Balther Weiss, Holy Son Eolan Lorcan, and others, he was noticeably less capable of advancing at the front line, serving as support instead, so his contributions weren’t as significant.
After the allocation, whether those who received tags or not, everyone was very satisfied.
Fair distribution always pleases everyone.
Carson observed the whole distribution, recalling Balther Weiss’s performance in the battle, and couldn’t help but admire, realizing why the sects are considered prestigious - they have many capable people!
Whether it be Illusory Snake Sect’s Holy Son Eolan Lorcan or Balther Weiss, they possess not only exceptional strength and courage but also excellent leadership qualities.
Even as an outsider without emotional inclination, Carson, having experienced two battles with them, felt greatly respected for their style of conduct and naturally trusted them.
This is the leadership charm these proud geniuses possess.
Once preparations were completed, Balther Weiss discussed some of the issues exposed during the battle, made some adjustments and optimizations to the formations, ensuring the combination between members maximizes combat power.
After the fierce battle, everyone needed rest and recovery, so Balther Weiss led them to a covert location, resting for a full day.
In the following days, Balther Weiss led the team through the gathering point area, encountering several Demon Race teams along with some scattered demons coming to join up, although having met only two Barbarian Tribes.
Heavenly Moon Sect is originally the strongest Demon Race sect in this area. Balther Weiss, as its most outstanding disciple with the remarkable previous battle results, although other Demon Race squads also have strong talents, none can shake his position as captain.
The team’s numbers kept increasing, yet everyone grew increasingly tense.
The ultimate battle is coming soon!
