Chapter 102 - 86: Elma and Scarface
Agatha had been searching the forest for days for that damn goblin.
But the forest was too big. Plus, with the recent influx of Adventurers into the outer woods, the goblins had been all but wiped out. She often went a whole day with nothing to show for it.
Moreover, she was afraid that another experienced Adventurer might recognize her, which would interfere with her future plans.
So, after the Storm Brotherhood arrived, Agatha left the Nightmare Forest. She decided to try another method: Summoning.
However, Summoning Magic belonged to the Necromancy Faction. Since she couldn’t cast this type of Magic herself, she had no choice but to make a trip to the Black Market in Black Lion City. There, she spent a hefty sum of Gold Coins to acquire a Magic Scroll containing the Summoning Magic.
Using the Array, along with the Fearsome Claw Bear bone she had obtained earlier, she successfully summoned the soul of a previously devoured prey. This way, she could have the Ghost search in her stead.
Agatha stared at the white Ghost before her, pulled from the Nether Sea. The room’s temperature seemed to drop because of its presence.
The Ghost appeared short and small, like a goblin. Its arms were slender, and everything below its waist was a wisp of white smoke. It was looking at its own body in confusion, as if it still hadn’t grasped its current situation.
Agatha summoned the Star Realm Giant Snake to guard her side, then commanded the Ghost in her mind, "Tell me your name."
Hearing the voice, the Ghost let out a fierce roar and lunged forward. The Giant Snake reared its head to block it. Agatha immediately raised her left hand, where a red dot on the fleshy part between her thumb and index finger began to glow. Red arcs of electricity instantly appeared, wrapping around the Ghost.
"AHH—" The Ghost shrieked, writhing in agony before her.
"Your name," Agatha commanded again, her tone severe.
"Scarface," the Ghost replied, hugging its arms and shrinking into a ball in fear. It kept glancing up at the one who had summoned it.
"I need you to find a goblin," Agatha said, her voice chilling. "A goblin that throws Explosive Fruits."
"Goblin?" Scarface muttered, repeating the word a few times. He then slowly floated up, a vicious look on his face. "I want revenge. I will kill the goblin."
"Find me the goblin that throws Explosive Fruits," Agatha said, emphasizing each word.
"I’ll kill him! Kill that goblin!" Scarface roared again, spinning in circles around the room. The candle chandelier swayed slightly from his Anger. His smoky form writhed furiously, twisting into a terrifying visage.
Agatha sighed softly and activated the Magic. As the red dot on her hand flashed, Scarface shrieked again and collapsed into a ball in the corner.
"Find the goblin I told you about," she repeated, her voice cold as ice.
"I’ll kill him. I want to be the chief. I am the chief of the tribe," Scarface mumbled, completely ignoring the Mage who had summoned him.
"First, find who I’m looking for," Agatha said to the Goblin Ghost cowering on the floor after a moment of thought. "Then I might consider letting you stick around, giving you a chance to get your revenge and become chief."
"I am the chief. I am the chief." Hearing this, Scarface seemed to regain some spirit. He floated up again, slowly approaching the Female Mage.
Agatha raised her left hand, showing the now-dim red dot between her thumb and forefinger to Scarface. "If you don’t want to experience another Soul Burning, then get your ass to the forest and get to work."
Scarface saw the red dot and recoiled in fear, floating back several paces. He then muttered, "Find the goblin... the goblin that throws Explosive Fruits."
Then, repeatedly muttering "kill him" and "I am the chief," he floated to the wall.
It was night by now. Scarface glanced out the window, then shot a venomous look back at the Female Mage before passing straight through the wall and flying north.
’Looks like a goblin who failed to seize the position of chief,’ Agatha mused as she watched Scarface disappear, only then sitting back down. ’He couldn’t have been stupid if he almost became chief. He should be able to find that damn goblin.’
She poured herself a cup of floral tea and took a sip. ’I could have this Goblin Ghost command a few goblins to help me find that thing the Mirror Man needs. A group of goblins is more useful than a single Fearsome Claw Bear, anyway.’
Then she set down her teacup, took a folded, yellowed piece of drawing paper from her bag, and unfolded it. On the paper was only a drawing of an eye.
The eye looked as if it were alive. Wisps of red mist constantly rose from it, and within the pupil, red and blue light intertwined, creating a dizzying sensation for anyone who stared at it directly.
In the bottom right corner of the paper was a dried signature. The ink looked like blood.
"Elma Sebastian." Agatha slowly read the signature aloud. Then, she tossed the drawing aside in disgust. "I hate that name. My name is Agatha Sebastian now."
She muttered "Agatha" twice, then touched her own smooth cheek, adding hatefully, "But I hate this name even more."
In a fit of anger, Agatha kicked over the Summoning Array in front of her, stamping out the overturned candles. Then she straightened her messy black hair, tugged at her long dress, and sat back down on the sofa to elegantly sip her floral tea. ’It’s almost over.’
She said with a smile, but the hand holding the teacup trembled from the force of her grip.
...
"This bed is yours," Shire said, handing out the last wooden bed for the day.
At the same time, he looked at a piece of paper in his hand and read, "The carpenters have gathered more people through the Artisan Association, so bed production can speed up."
’In that case, we can give them some new orders. Since they’re here, they might as well not leave. They can settle down in Yangjiao Town for now.’
Shire rubbed his chin, a hopeful smile on his face. "We’ll have them make some more tables and chairs, especially the long tables and benches needed for the mess hall, and some other furniture too."
’I’ve also arranged for clothes to be made. The tailors were surprised by the quantity I ordered.’
He looked up toward the Fortress gate. Broken Tooth, now dressed in thick clothing, was leading a few goblins on patrol around the territory.
’Clothing production needs to be sped up. A uniform style will be fine.’ Shire continued reading down the paper.
’Someone bought 500 Healing Potions?’ He frowned and kept reading.
A few seconds later, Shire put down the intelligence report and stared blankly at the Blue Fluorescent Mushrooms on the ceiling.
’The Storm Brotherhood has arrived. What are they planning to do with so many Healing Potions and Awakening Potions?’
’Are they going into the forest to wipe out goblins?’
’Or are they looking for something?’
Just as Shire was pondering this, a squad of goblins approached.
"Chief, new goblins have arrived," Broken Tooth said, walking up to him.
