’You can tell a couple had sex this morning just by taking their pulse?’

Anyone else hearing this would have called it utterly absurd.

But Tian Xiangqian didn’t think it was an exaggeration at all.

He’d had half a lung removed due to illness years ago, a fact only his parents knew. Not even his own brother was aware of it.

Two years prior, he had attended a banquet and happened upon a plain-looking old master of traditional Chinese medicine. The man had merely glanced at him before bluntly stating that he was missing half a lung.

The traditions of Chinese medicine stretched back thousands of years.

Its power was on a level that Western medicine, with its history of only a few centuries, could not hope to compare with.

A truly formidable master of Chinese medicine sometimes didn’t even need to take a pulse. A single glance or a sniff of your body’s scent was enough for them to diagnose your illness.

They could even determine, with unerring accuracy, if you’d been drinking or how many abortions you’d had.

It was no exaggeration to say that in the presence of a truly masterful practitioner of Chinese medicine, one had no privacy to speak of.

So, when Chenyang accurately declared they had had sex that morning, Tian Xiangqian’s skepticism vanished in an instant.

"My apologies. I underestimated you," Tian Xiangqian said. His expression turned serious as he continued, "Little Divine Doctor, no matter how dangerous my wife’s condition is now, you must save the children in her womb."

"Don’t the TV dramas always say to save the mother at all costs?"

"And as you said, that’s a TV show."

Tian Xiangqian gave an awkward laugh. "These two children are tied to my prosperity and future for the rest of my life," he said. "Absolutely nothing can happen to them. Please, help me. You’ll be handsomely rewarded."

Chenyang shook his head in resignation. "It’s not nearly as bad as you’re imagining. Your wife and children will be fine."

"That’s a relief." Tian Xiangqian sighed, then asked out of curiosity, "So what exactly is her condition?"

"It’s due to two factors. First, during the car crash, the impact or the violent jolting concussed her internal organs and brain."

"Is it serious?"

"Not very. The concussion was only mild."

"Like a mild concussion?"

"Something like that. Except in her case, it wasn’t just her brain, but her internal organs as well."

"I’ve had a mild concussion before from a fight. I just felt dizzy and a bit nauseous. But why is she completely unconscious and impossible to wake?"

"Pregnant women are inherently fragile, especially one who is only a month or two from giving birth, like her. Her vulnerability, in many respects, is comparable to that of a three-year-old child."

Chenyang paused for a moment. "Besides, as I said, that’s only one of the factors. The true cause of her unconsciousness is related to the shock."

"A mild concussion plus a scare... so it’s nothing major, right?" Tian Xiangqian chuckled. "And the children?"

"The children are largely unharmed, but..."

Seeing Chenyang trail off, Tian Xiangqian’s expression immediately tensed. "But what? Is there some other issue?"

Chenyang thought for a moment. "I should treat your wife first. Once she wakes up, I’ll discuss what I discovered from her pulse with both of you at the same time."

"If there’s a problem, just tell me. She’s too delicate to handle a scare."

"It’s not necessarily something to be scared about. Besides, I need to ask your wife a few questions to determine if what I’ve found is merely a coincidence or a genuine problem."

Chenyang knew the man was worried about the children’s safety, so he smiled and clapped him on the shoulder. "Rest assured, the issue I discovered has absolutely nothing to do with the children’s health or safety."

"Really?"

"Of course! I have no reason to deceive you, nor is there any need to, is there?"

Tian Xiangqian nodded. "As long as the children are safe, no other problem is really a problem."

"Alright. Why don’t you wait outside for now? Family members can’t be present during treatment."

"Okay."

After seeing Tian Xiangqian out, Chenyang took out his needle case. He briefly sterilized a needle before inserting it into an acupoint located right between the pregnant woman’s eyebrows.

A moment later, the woman, who had been unconscious, slowly opened her eyes.

"What was the problem you found?"

Chenyang raised an eyebrow. "You heard our conversation just now?"

"I heard it all. I just couldn’t open my eyes, no matter what. Then, after you inserted the needle, a cooling sensation spread through my head, and I was instantly awake."

The woman sized Chenyang up and praised him, "So young, yet you woke me with a single silver needle. City Hospital must have spent a great deal of effort and money to recruit a Little Divine Doctor like you."

"You’re too kind. I’m hardly a Little Divine Doctor."

Chenyang didn’t waste any breath on the topic. Changing the subject, he got right back to the point. "Are you aware that the children in your womb are not entirely your husband’s?"
