Chapter 62: Let’s Talk Somewhere Else
Chenyang didn’t directly answer Liu Yun’s question, instead repeating what he had said before. "It’s not something I can say in front of everyone."
"What’s so hard to talk about? People like us have seen it all, and we’re all married adults. Whether it’s a sensitive topic or some intimate matters, we basically understand. Just be frank about it."
"Exactly. This kind of illness just involves a woman’s unique parts, right? Like the uterus, breasts, and, you know, down there. Talking about this stuff in public might make someone blush at most, but in the medical field, isn’t it a perfectly normal topic?"
"Ladies, it’s not what you think."
"Then you’re..."
Just as Su Qianqian was about to press him, Liu Yun suddenly cut her off. "You don’t want to say it in front of everyone because the treatment method involves secrets from your family’s medical arts, right?"
Chenyang nodded. "That’s one reason. There’s another, and it has to do with your privacy. I know you’re all very close, but even the best of friends should have their own secrets, right?"
Liu Yun gave a slight nod.
Although she wasn’t sure if Chenyang could cure her illness—and even felt deep down that the chances were low—the fact that he had described most of her symptoms just by taking her pulse was enough to prove his medical expertise far surpassed that of his peers. That was something Liu Yun had to admire.
And now, his choice not to speak publicly in order to protect her privacy proved he possessed an admirable level of emotional intelligence.
Highly skilled and emotionally intelligent.
In Liu Yun’s eyes, even if a person like that couldn’t cure her strange illness, he was worth trusting at least once. Besides, if he ever encountered problems in his medical career and came to her, she would be happy to lend a hand.
With that in mind, she said, "Let’s go somewhere else to talk."
"Alright."
As he stood up, Chenyang added, "It should be a quiet place where we won’t be disturbed, and preferably one with a variety of Chinese herbs. If conditions are right, I can start your first course of treatment today."
"Go to my place," Su Qianqian said, pulling a set of keys from her purse and handing them to Liu Yun.
Liu Yun hesitated for a moment. "Is that okay?"
"What’s not okay about it? That bastard cheated on me, but I haven’t divorced him yet. Since we’re not divorced, that place is still mine. You can use anything inside, use as much as you want. It’s not my money being spent, anyway."
"Alright then."
Seeing Liu Yun take the keys and prepare to leave, Qin Fei’Er called out, "At least eat before you go! The dumplings are ready."
"You guys go ahead and eat."
For Liu Yun, nothing was more important than getting treatment. She immediately pulled Chenyang along and left.
After a lightning-fast drive, they arrived at a small, detached villa.
She didn’t even give Chenyang a chance to admire the place before dragging him down to the basement.
It was called a basement, but its decor and furnishings were several times more luxurious than the living room of an average wealthy family.
On the left, a compartmentalized cabinet displayed all sorts of precious Chinese medicinal herbs.
The area on the right housed a lot of advanced medical equipment.
"Qianqian’s mother once suffered from a chronic illness. To provide better treatment and care, a fortune was spent converting this into a private medical room. They have basically all the equipment and medicine you’d find in a hospital."
After giving Chenyang the brief introduction, Liu Yun got straight to the point. "There’s no one else here, so you can say whatever you need to. But what I want to know most right now is, what exactly is this illness I have?"
Chenyang asked in return, "Have you ever heard of a ’stone maiden’?"
"After so many years in gynecology, how could I not have heard of it?"
"In simple terms, a ’stone maiden’ is a woman who finds it difficult to engage in sexual intercourse. There are true and false types, which is a similar concept to phimosis and redundant foreskin in men. Generally, it can be resolved with surgery."
"Correct. Your illness is somewhat similar in nature to the ’stone maiden’ condition—but of course, only in nature. The rest is different. I don’t know what other doctors call it, but when my grandfather and I discussed it, we named it Pregnancy Tide Syndrome."
"’Pregnancy Tide’? Why did you choose that name?"
"It’s simple. After you contracted this illness, you didn’t have any major symptoms of discomfort. However, every two weeks, you’d inexplicably experience false pregnancy symptoms, maybe once, or occasionally two or three times. For example, a random bout or two of nausea like morning sickness, or feeling like you’re about to lose control of your bladder, but not actually becoming incontinent. Right?"
Liu Yun was stunned for a moment. She did have those symptoms, but she had never connected them to her illness and therefore had never mentioned them to anyone.
Chenyang continued, "And after those false pregnancy symptoms disappear, during the night—especially around four or five in the morning—you’ll occasionally experience reactions similar to... well, an orgasm. The specific symptoms are a flushed face, slight convulsions down below as if you’ve been satisfied, and a strange sense of fulfillment."
"Yes! I used to think it was a side effect of some medicine I was taking. But now... you’re saying it’s related to my illness?"
