Chapter 14: Time to Get Down to Business
The meaning behind Qin Fei’Er’s words was already obvious.
But Chenyang didn’t rush to play along.
Because Qin Fei’Er was the culprit who had stolen his internship!
A woman who could so easily use her connections to steal the fruits of another’s labor was no simple character.
If her actions didn’t mean what he thought they did, or if she was harboring other motives, going along with her now would be tantamount to walking into a trap.
The possibility was slim, but one could never be too careful.
Besides, Qin Fei’Er and her son had made him suffer so terribly in the past. If she really was doing this now out of sheer desperation, then before Chenyang decided to ravage her, he needed to string her along first and let her have a taste of torment.
Of course, more importantly, the one Chenyang wanted most at this very moment was still Lin Xiaowei.
Compared to the beautiful bride in her wedding dress, even Qin Fei’Er—who arguably had a better face and figure—paled in comparison in this particular setting!
With this in mind, Chenyang smiled. "Finding comfort with a woman as beautiful as you, Aunt Qin, is a blessing I could only dream of."
"And having so much in common with a handsome young man like you makes me happy, too."
As they chatted and laughed, Qin Fei’Er’s hand subtly grazed Chenyang’s chest. The firm muscle and his distinctly masculine scent sent a thrill through her.
That irrepressible emptiness made her wish she could just pour out her heart—and everything else—to him right then and there.
But her son was still waiting inside. With no other choice, she suppressed her desires and said, "Let’s get down to business. Don’t you young people like to play exciting little games to tease the newlyweds? You should go and get ready."
A glint appeared in Chenyang’s eyes. "I do need to prepare."
"Then go on. I’ll call Weiwei out and go over a few things with her."
"Alright."
Chenyang turned, went back to his room for a moment, and then headed to the kitchen.
By the time he came out, having finished preparing a few things, Qin Fei’Er’s conversation with Lin Xiaowei was coming to an end.
Their conversation had been even more explicit than his own with Aunt Qin, leaving a deep blush on Lin Xiaowei’s pretty face. Her shy expression was incredibly alluring.
"Can you let me see what you’ve prepared?" Qin Fei’Er asked, her eyes on the black bag in Chenyang’s hand.
"Aunt Qin, these are my secret weapons. I can’t let you see."
"You young people..." Qin Fei’Er gave a seductive smile and waved her hand. "Fine, I won’t look. You go on in. I’ll just have a final word with Weiwei."
"Alright."
The moment Chenyang stepped into the bridal suite, he was hit by the pungent smell of medicine mixed with the stench of urine.
Waving a hand in front of his nose, he said coldly, "Eldest Young Master Li. Back when you were the big man on campus at Yangcheng Medical College, humiliating me every chance you got, did you ever imagine you’d end up in such a pathetic state?"
Li Qiang couldn’t move, but he strained to shift his eyes in Chenyang’s direction.
When he made out Chenyang’s face, his pupils contracted violently.
A powerful surge of emotion made him want to get up, to speak.
But his body wouldn’t obey. He could only manage a few strained, guttural groans.
Chenyang stood by the bed, looking down at him with contempt. "I never used to believe in karma, but seeing you now, I’m a believer. And I believe heaven is watching, because it’s allowed me to see you in this pathetic state and given me the chance to get my revenge face-to-face."
"Ugh... ah... you..." Li Qiang struggled to make a sound, his eyes nearly popping from their sockets with rage.
Seeing his tragic, helpless fury, Chenyang couldn’t help but grin. He leaned in close and chuckled mockingly. "I’ve got good news and bad news. Which do you want to hear first?"
"Never mind, you can’t talk anyway. I’ll just tell you. The bad news is, today is your wedding day. Your bride is gorgeous, but you can’t enjoy her. It’s immensely satisfying. And the good news... is that you don’t have to worry about your bride being lonely tonight. Because... I’m going to take good care of her for you. I’m going to turn her from a girl into a woman."
"Nnngh... CRASH!"
Agitated, Li Qiang mumbled incoherently, his body writhing like a snake as he knocked a stainless steel cup off the bedside table and onto the floor.
"What’s wrong?"
Just then, Lin Xiaowei walked in.
She closed the door behind her. Worried Aunt Qin might be eavesdropping, Chenyang didn’t tell the truth. Instead, he said with a knowing smile, "It’s nothing. I think Young Master Li felt an instant connection with me and got too excited to speak."
"Are you sure he’s excited, not furious?"
"How could he be furious? Young Master Li and I really hit it off. He may not have said anything, but you can’t mistake the joy in his eyes."
"Chenyang, my mother-in-law already left. It’s just the three of us here, so you can drop the sarcasm."
Hearing this, Chenyang raised an eyebrow. "Aunt Qin left? She didn’t stick around?"
"No. A friend called to say they were dropping something off. Before she left, she said she’d be back in about ten minutes and that we should hurry."
"Fine. Since Aunt Qin so thoughtfully gave us some space, let’s get down to business."
As he spoke, Chenyang bolted the door. Then, right in front of Li Qiang, he pulled Lin Xiaowei into his arms.
