The "important matter" Liu Yun mentioned referred to recommending Chenyang for a doctor position at the hospital.

After speaking with Chenyang yesterday, her original plan was to have him go through the standard hiring process. She figured that once his medical skills were recognized by the leadership during an internship, she could then use her authority to help him secure a permanent position.

That way, she wouldn’t be violating any regulations, nor would she leave herself open to criticism.

However, when she got home that evening and casually mulled over the matter, she suddenly had a change of heart.

For one thing, after a few hours, she found that the condition Chenyang had treated had improved dramatically.

Furthermore, just as she was getting ready for bed, Qin Fei’Er had made a special call, asking her to take extra care of Chenyang.

In all their years of friendship, Qin Fei’Er had rarely taken the initiative to ask her for help.

She hadn’t even asked for help back when her family had fallen on hard times and she was living a miserable life with her widowed mother.

For her to make a special request now on behalf of Chenyang meant Liu Yun couldn’t possibly refuse.

Besides, she had already been won over by Chenyang’s superb medical skills.

If, under these circumstances, she only made Chenyang an intern, it would make her seem far too petty.

So, the first thing Liu Yun did after waking up was call the hospital leadership. She explained Chenyang’s situation and even gave her personal guarantee for him.

The hospital leadership was happy to do Liu Yun this favor.

After all, in all these years, she had never stepped forward to vouch for anyone.

However, Chenyang had neither a graduation diploma nor a medical license, so making him a permanent employee directly was against regulations.

More importantly, if word of this got out, it would reflect poorly on both Liu Yun and the hospital.

After some negotiation, the leadership decided to first place Chenyang in the emergency department under Liu Yun’s supervision.

His benefits and compensation would be on par with a fully registered doctor.

Nominally, however, he would hold the title of an intern.

Once the issue of his medical license was resolved and his skills were recognized by more people, they would use a special procedure to give him a more suitable position.

Liu Yun had no objection to this.

Titles and ranks were just for show.

The real, tangible benefits were the salary and compensation package.

As long as those benefits were in place, the title didn’t really matter.

At least, it wasn’t important for Chenyang, who was just starting his career.

After settling things with the hospital leadership, Liu Yun immediately contacted Chenyang. She wanted to tell him the good news and rush him through the necessary procedures.

When she learned that Chenyang was currently in the personnel office, she rushed over at once.

Before she even entered the room, however, she heard Gao Tianqi relentlessly humiliating Chenyang.

Since receiving Chenyang’s "special treatment" yesterday, Liu Yun already considered the young man one of her own.

And after that special phone call from Qin Fei’Er, she was even more resolved to support Chenyang with all her might.

’The person I’m determined to support is being bullied the moment he sets foot in the hospital. This is a slap in my face, too.’

So, when she entered and saw Gao Tianqi bullying Chenyang, she didn’t give him the slightest pleasantry.

Now, she was prepared to use the fact that Chenyang’s application had already received the leadership’s attention and approval to deliver a resounding slap to Gao Tianqi’s face.

However, before the words left her mouth, Gao Tianqi suddenly cut in, "Director Liu, please wait a moment."

Liu Yun frowned and asked, "What are you doing?"

"Clearing the room!"

"Clearing the room?"

"That’s right. For you to come handle something personally despite your busy schedule, it must be extremely important. And this place isn’t just a mess; there’s also riffraff hanging around."

Gao Tianqi said with a sycophantic smile, "To make things more convenient for you, as your subordinate, isn’t it my duty to first help you clear out the riffraff?"

Liu Yun could tell that Gao Tianqi was trying to use this as an opportunity to drive Chenyang away.

She couldn’t help but sneer, "Things do need to be cleared out. However, the one who needs to be cleared out is..."

She wanted to say that the person who needed to be cleared out wasn’t Chenyang, but Gao Tianqi himself.

But Gao Tianqi completely misunderstood. Before she could finish, he cut in again, "Don’t you worry. With me handling it, I guarantee the person being thrown out won’t dare to go spreading rumors."

With that, Gao Tianqi immediately shot a look at Wang Hongtu and his men. "What are you gawking at? Can’t you see Director Liu has urgent business? Get a move on and throw Chenyang out!"

Seeing Wang Hongtu cracking his knuckles, ready to get physical, Liu Yun hastily cut in, "Wait! When did I tell you to get physical? I said the person to be cleared out is..."

"You’re not planning to do it yourself, are you?" Gao Tianqi interrupted Liu Yun yet again, sidling closer with a smarmy grin. "Director Liu, this kid might look like he’s still wet behind the ears, but he knows a thing or two about fighting. You’re too important to get your own hands dirty. If this punk accidentally hurts you, then I..."

SLAP!

Just as Gao Tianqi was rambling on, Liu Yun lifted her hand and slapped him squarely across the face.
