Chapter 57: I Will Never Give Up on You
Standing at the edge of the chasm, Xu Qingsui glanced down into its bottomless depths.
Loose stones by her feet tumbled into the chasm, and for a long time, no echo returned.
She took another deep breath, her gaze turning to the distant horizon as if she had made up her mind.
"I came here to soothe your spirit, yet you refuse to even see me."
"If that’s the case, then there’s no reason for me to go back. Since you’ve sealed yourself away in this sea of black, then let me be buried in this endless abyss!"
With that, Xu Qingsui closed her eyes, leaned forward, and fell straight into the chasm.
Her body plummeted downwards, the wind roaring in her ears.
When she had soothed Lu Jingyu before, he had also tried to run, but he always yielded to her relentless pursuit.
This time, Lu Jingyu had created a chasm to block her path directly.
He thought she couldn’t cross it, so she gambled that he wouldn’t actually watch her fall to her death.

The giant black dragon once again filled her vision, swooping down at incredible speed.
The dragon brushed past her as it fell, and in the next moment, she landed on a solid back.
Xu Qingsui threw her arms around the dragon’s body, but its massive frame was so large she couldn’t even reach halfway around.
The dragon shifted its body slightly, and a gap appeared between the scales near her hands, just wide enough for her to fit her fingers.
The dragon glanced back at Xu Qingsui, then looked at where her hands were.
Realizing the dragon was prompting her, Xu Qingsui hooked her fingers into the gap between the scales.
The next second, the dragon shot straight up into the sky, carrying Xu Qingsui out of the abyss and into the dark, ominous clouds.
Lightning flashed and thunder rolled within the clouds, but the dragon, carrying Xu Qingsui, always managed to dodge it with ease.
Xu Qingsui knew the Black Dragon would protect her, so she simply leaned down and pressed her cheek against its body.
The cool touch made the Black Dragon pause for a moment, but it quickly returned to normal.
Seeing this, Xu Qingsui shakily stood up and began to slowly crawl toward the dragon’s head.
Noticing her movement, the Black Dragon’s flight became noticeably smoother.
When Xu Qingsui safely reached the dragon’s head, she lay down on it, stroking it gently as she whispered, "I knew you wouldn’t abandon me, just like I would never give up on you."
"You’re not alone anymore. No matter what, I’ll always be with you. Can you open your heart and let me into your world?"
Xu Qingsui’s stroking calmed the Black Dragon. Listening to her words, it descended back to the ground.
Xu Qingsui slid off the dragon’s head and stood before it, raising a hand to caress its snout.
"It’s all right now. I’m here with you. You should get some rest."
A flicker of struggle appeared in the Black Dragon’s eyes. It glanced back at the horizon, intending to fly back.
Xu Qingsui immediately opened her arms and hugged its head, pressing her face against its cheek.
"From now on, that place won’t be your only home. You can also fall asleep safely in my arms."
Xu Qingsui’s words seemed to possess Magic Power. The restless aura around the Black Dragon dissipated into motes of light.
As the restless aura faded, the Black Dragon’s body gradually shrank, turning back into a black snake.
The black snake coiled itself around Xu Qingsui’s body, nuzzled its head against her cheek, and slowly closed its eyes.
As the black snake fell into a peaceful sleep, the berserk aura around Lu Jingyu also began to fade.
The black markings on his body receded, and his eyes returned to their normal color.
He closed his eyes and slowly slumped into Xu Qingsui’s arms.
Xu Qingsui caught his shoulders and gently lowered herself to the ground, letting Lu Jingyu rest more comfortably against her.
His body, feverish from his rampaging state, felt the cool aura from Xu Qingsui, and Lu Jingyu snuggled deeper into her embrace.
His nose happened to be right at the nape of her neck, and a faint yet rich, un-cloying fragrance wafted into his nostrils.
Lu Jingyu’s heart stirred. He lifted his head slightly, his lips gently caressing Xu Qingsui’s neck.
The moment Xu Qingsui took over soothing Lu Jingyu, the crisis for the rest of the group was over.
Watching Xu Qingsui easily enter Lu Jingyu’s Spiritual World, the difference in ability between her and Xu Ruming, who had nearly been torn to shreds, was starkly clear.
