The girl with the fire wheel.

Episode 43: An Invitation to Hegemony

Once Noel returned to Madres, the castle had the Red Wheel Libra flag of the Unified Coimbra and the Liberian Confederate flag, which had just been declared established, flying as early as possible. In the future, Coimbra will aim to rebuild itself as a member of the Federation. Of course, we must be prepared for a counterattack from the Empire. The future is still difficult.

And it is the people of Madres and the Coimbra soldiers who welcome the Noels. Everyone was waiting in line to see the Lord Elgar, and the rumored new Governor.

Waiting in front of them were the Barbas with a proud look on their face. Its breasts are hung with the Governor's best men and medals written in dirty letters. They made it on their own, not the handmade medal Noel gave them.

"Captain Noel, no, Governor! Welcome home! No, when I heard you talk, I thought you'd be surprised to get too low on your back!

"Yeah, thanks. Oh, I bought you souvenirs, so distribute them to everyone. Of course there's alcohol."

"Hehe, thank you! Bastards, it's from His Excellency the Governor! Thanks for taking it!!

'Thank you, Governor Noel!

"Long live Governor Noel!

"Long live the devil!

Willa Island soldiers seem to want to call themselves evil ghosts for anything. I kind of don't care anymore, so I think I should like it.

"See you later!

"I'll be waiting for you in the barracks cafeteria! It's a feast till this morning!

After being dropped off by Barbus, messed up by the people, sprinkled with words of blessing by the great ones, and made to shake countless hands, Noel was finally able to reach the castle. Cynthia, who was behind me at some point, also has a heartfelt but sleazy face.

"... uh, I'm really tired!

"... um, me too, I agree. I felt expectations from everyone, but I'm tired of boulders."

"It's going to be a big banquet, but what about Cynthia?

"After compiling the report, I'm going to put on a little face. I want to work for the soldiers who have fought for me so far."

"Oh well. See you later!

"Oh, right.... No, I understand, Governor Noel."

Noel looked sincerely disgusted as Cynthia got the word right and became grumpy.

"You can do as you always do. It feels so weird."

"But"

"Fine, fine. If you can't, you'll have more gray hair and wrinkles."

For a moment, she stared sharply, but Cynthia nodded small. I feel like I've been impressed by Ligret lately, and I'm getting angry a lot with him with an extra word. The wrinkles were superfluous. Noel admonishes himself to be just a little bit careful.

"... well, if you say so. As a matter of fact, it was decided that I would be appointed as a sponsor from the coin bra. Which means your educator will continue."

"That's tough."

"... don't you say that. I'll make sure the Governor has the words he deserves and the courtesy he deserves. Regardless, it is unacceptable to neglect the military"

"Uh-huh."

"... pup. Don't let the Governor speak out of pity."

Cynthia blew out uncommonly, so Noel laughs accordingly. Again, this is calmer.

After Noel's decision to assume the post of Governor, it had also been decided that various constraints would be placed on him later. It's not sweet enough to leave the army to me at liberty.

Except in emergency situations, if military action is to be taken, approval shall always be obtained from the Council of Ministers. If the Council of the Hordes determines that he is ineligible as Governor, Noel is immediately relieved of his duties as Governor. If he disobeys this decision, Noel's body will be temporarily detained.

Advice and surveillance are also assigned to the Governor's Office. Several people have been dispatched from various countries and are required to report Noel's actions to their home countries on a case-by-case basis.

The crowd was also given great authority. If Noel makes a disturbing move, the Nominees have the right to initiate a motion for dismissal and may dismiss the Governor in favor of the majority.

By the way, Noel himself has this activation right. I snuck up on the papers. If I get tired or bothered, I'm going to activate a dismissal motion from myself. Why did you do such a small job, 'What do I do when I want to resign?' And when he asked Sidden in swallowing, he was bewitched with a terrible scary eye. When you piss Sidden off, you need to be careful because he's going to be a shady harasser. It reduces the amount of rice, runs out of snacks, and pushes a lot of troublesome work. Now that I'm governor, I can't run away for a while. It's really dangerous.

Noel walks out relaxed to head to the barracks after receiving many words of celebration again from the martial officers, the civilians. The outfit now is a military uniform based on the red that you prepared for me in Gemb. Pretty noticeable because the top and bottom are red. But it has a big medal, and it's bright and looks good like the sun. I wore red clothes on my redhead, but I am not particularly dissatisfied. Now that my hair is well put together behind me, Cynthia has tattooed me that I have no problem attending this ceremony. When I looked in the mirror, I did see a fine soldier. It was kind of like someone else, so I laughed at it and it was Noel after all. Everyone else, yeah, because they're snorting, I'm sure. There is no difficulty if only human beings, positions and clothing change.

(I want to be sure like the Governor, but I guess I'll be tired of making this face all the time)

Thinking about that, walking with a lack in one hand of a liquor bottle, I discovered a ligret leaning against the wall. It's the same gendarmerie uniform that unleashes the evil of keeping extra people close. When I quickly found this one, after fixing my glasses, I had corrected my spine and saluted it.

"Welcome home, Governor Noel!

"Um, good luck. How was the castle while I was gone"

"Yes, no problem at all!

"Well, that's superimposed. Thank you for your hard work on the assignment, you can step back today!

As Noel tried to pass by with his salute intact, he was caught thoughtfully grasping his clothes from behind. I thought it might be funny to leave it like this, but it didn't seem like a good idea.

"Wait a minute! Because I need help, I've been waiting all alone here on purpose. How long the hell are you gonna keep me waiting, you idiot!

"I didn't hear you say that."

"I didn't say that!

"You're so unscrupulous."

When Noel laughs unexpectedly and bitterly, Ligrette grabs his chest up with her teeth clenched. I don't think I'm going to get hit, but I'll be ready to dodge it for once. If you fought back poorly, you could seriously injure yourself.

"- So why are you suddenly Viceroy?! I don't understand!! I really don't get the point at all!

Ligrette tramples and tongues the community too disturbingly as if she had gone mad. When Noel thought it was getting kind of troublesome, I knew it was getting tangled up.

"I heard that a few days ago. You jumped over the General of Coimbra and said you were the first Governor of the Liberian Union? The birth of a great hero to counter an evil empire! Ahhh, animals, animals, animals!! I am not convinced!!

"Um, why are you angry? Did I do anything wrong?

When Noel, who had finally freed his chest, tried to stroke Ligrette's shoulder, he was hard paid off.

"Shut up! I'm just jealous!

"Oh well."

"Why do you always get a good look at me! What's so different about me and you? What's the difference in born talent? Shit, even if this is God's call. Oh, shit, shit!

"Uh, if you like, but change? Ask Sidden and we might figure it out."

Maybe not.

"You idiot! There's no way I can do that! Think better and then talk, you redhead! No, I guess you're deliberately pissing me off after thinking about it! Uh, I'm really angry!

I knocked my glasses on the floor, not to mention that Ligret couldn't do it. It seems surprisingly sturdy and doesn't come in.

"Um, I don't know what to do. It's weird that I apologize."

Ligrette breathed heavily and vomited, then curtailed her tone and wore a sober mask. Although my mouth is tight.

"Of course it is. This is just eight hits of a stupid bitch. When I zeroed my stupidity on the great hero, it was refreshing.... I'm so sorry. I'll be careful later."

"Yeah. Yes, this. I'm glad you're not broken."

Noel picked up his glasses and gave them to him. Ligret puts it on, as if nothing had happened.

"... the truth is, there's nothing to be happy about. For once, you hit my acquaintance. From that, I never thought that a hero representing the Federation would be born. As the same woman, I feel a little proud. Just a little bit."

Wicked clear eyes. Noel was just a little surprised because he had started to look like this.

"Haha. You're quite honest today. If that's always the case, I think we'll have more friends."

"It's just for today. If it comes back tomorrow, I'll go back to the pubic glasses twisted woman.... and more importantly, I have something to tell you. Come here, please."

Ligret looked around carefully and then grabbed Noel's arm and started walking. As it is, he asks with an unprecedented seriousness when he brings him into the warehouse where he thinks the servant is using it. In my eyes, things like determination and readiness come to mind.

"Sudden disrespect, I'm sorry. But I didn't want anyone to ask me. Nor should you ever be asked"

"That's good, but in such an unpopular place, what the hell is it?

"Let me know what you really mean."

"Mine, earnestly?

"... Yes. You have been recognized by the leaders of all nations as Governor of the Confederation for your martial arts and achievements. This is exactly what you would call a feat."

"Yeah, well, I guess so"

Noel agrees once and for all. I don't mean to be flattered, but it would be a matter of pride. Looking back on history so far, no human being should have emerged so far as a civilian.

Naturally, Noel also understands why he was entrusted with the Governor-General. The leaders want to gather support from the civilian population. And I guess the current rear shield is a good condition, too, being a young Elgar. Syden decided that he wasn't politically capable enough to use Noel for something.

And it's easy to truncate if you fail. If he loses in a showdown with the Empire, Noel will happen to change. It doesn't have its own territory, so it's easy to push for responsibility for defeat. The Federation's momentum will stop, but its impact on countries can be minimized. And I guess it will create a second hero and a new governor will take office.

Knowing that, Noel took it. Because I wanted to be great.

"He came from the civilian population, and while he was a woman, he held a position where he could cross with leaders from all countries in dignity. This is exactly what equates to a miracle. We will be able to command the soldiers, perhaps 50,000 or so, gathered from every country."

"Yeah."

"This is a force equivalent to a nation's military power. Do you have any idea what I'm trying to say?

Ligrette coming close to my face. Noel glances at each other, but doesn't answer.

…………

"… in the future, you could be the champion of the continent if you stand around successfully. It is my belief that there is force, control, good luck and, above all, that vessel. Though you will soon realize this, even if you don't tell me. You're an idiot, but you can look ahead and hit your hand."

…………

Noel answers nothing. It's a very dangerous content, not an unusual one. At least not that the vicinity of the Governor may speak.

"You have strange properties that you can trust from the soldiers.... once said that Belgium, the Sun Emperor who dominated the continent, had similar qualities. Charisma, whatever your origin, will attract you at some point. The soldier who works for him says he just went forward, forward, without fear of death. With that power, Belgium dominated the continent. You may be able to reproduce it."

…………

Noel explores the signs around him. Luckily, no one. If someone had asked me, I would have had to seal that mouth. It's for Ligret.

"If you care about that, the coin bra led by Master Elgar will definitely follow you here. If we look at the occasion and launch a third force, the situation on the continent will be antagonistic. I'll ask you just once. Do you have the ambition to dominate the Union and the Empire? If there is, I'm ready to move."

"... just for a moment, will you wait"

Ligret's face is even more serious. So Noel decides to take it seriously, too. If they say you have ambitions or not, you have none at all. But I wanted to be great. That's why I became governor. If we stick with the fact that we will be great, the rulers of the continent will fall into place. Exactly, the pinnacle. There is no higher height. If there is, it's to strike out like an amyl, but Noel doesn't have that ambition.

(... Hmm, third force. I was wondering if it would work that well)

If you ask me if I can do it, I have to say it's hard. But if you judge calmly, maybe there's about 20% chance. First, after defeating the Empire, he takes in the forces and becomes independent as a third force. Alternatively, you can assassinate Sidden, set up a puppet and take over Gembu. If the strange properties and behavior of Ligrette are true, it is even more likely.

(If this was just a game, I'd do it without worrying about anything)

A soldier chess exercise would have been a delight to try. Looks very interesting as chaos. But this is not a game. One of Noel's people and friends is dying. Sidden has a bad bottom line, but I don't hate him anything. Other kingdoms, they looked great enough to die, but they were pretty funny people to talk to.

Riding on Ligrette's suggestion becomes a bloody choice. You have to think of yourself not as fun, but as someone who carries everyone's life.

Either way, the journey to it will definitely be painful. The battle will last forever. As Ligret put it, Elgar and Cynthia are likely to follow us here. But we will set ourselves apart from Sidden and Kai. There must be many soldiers returning to their country. Above all, many who follow Noel will die. I'm not happy at all, even if they're dying happy with their suspicious properties and doings. I don't like Noel for that. Fewer buddies play and make noise.

For finally grabbing the throne of glory after overcoming the mountains of numerous corpses. Is happiness really waiting for you in that place?

(Probably nothing. I feel that way)

It's unfounded, but I think so. If you look at the emperor so far, you can predict. Happiness for them has been achieved at a stage when they have become rulers of the continent. It is humans who are not satisfied with maintaining the status quo. So the emperor Amir embarked on a reckless continental expedition in search of his next happiness. Emperor Befnam indulged in the crazy dream of using himself as an experimental material to create the next phase of the human race. For the sake of his own happiness, is that likelihood of spreading misfortune on all enemies' allies “happy”? It won't be. I'm sure only an inexplicable sense of impatience will wear it.

I don't want to be. Those who died in places like that shit. I didn't like having more of those people. Even if Noel doesn't think he will, he could change if he goes to the top. So I don't want to change. I like this.

"I'm not going to climb any further. I don't want to be a continental champion."

"... why!?

"Because there seems to be more to lose than what you get. It's a simple calculation, isn't it? And don't ask me that again."

Noel puts his index finger on his mouth and pushes hard to make it his only story here.

…………

"I think the Governor would be great enough. Look, this uniform looks amazing. Most importantly, they call me Your Excellency. Haha, that's really awesome."

As Noel curled and stood with a quick mouth, Ligret took a deep sigh and then pounded his tongue before returning to his usual insidious look.

"... what. I've been thinking about all kinds of plans. I don't look like an idiot. I've been thinking about a lot of steps because you might take the hegemony. Since I heard that, I've been thinking about sleeping until today, haven't I? Shit, it's not all wasted bones."

"Haha, then you'd better burn that and just forget about it. There's nothing left untrained!

"You don't have to tell me, I'll drink to death later and blank my head. Oh, you're a real idiot. He said he had the right to stand at the top of the continent because of it."

"I don't think there's anything that good about standing at the top and having lots of territory. More things to do and think about. More importantly, it's hard to clean if you're too big!

"You redhead! He said we shouldn't keep the house and country together! Uh, that's enough. I'll eat and drink a lot today and go to bed unfaithful. Forget all the extras!

Ligrette grabs Noel's bottle and drinks the trumpet. I stain my gendarmerie clothes with zero booze.

"So shall we hurry back to the barracks? Because I think the drinks have arrived. Let's all make a fuss."

"Yes, sir. I'll be happy to hang out with you, Governor Noel."

"Um, then let's go, Staff Regrett"

When Noel stands back, Ligrette tongues depressingly. Unfortunately, the beauty was not good.

When I went to the barracks, the feast had already begun. Everyone enjoys sipping alcohol, blushing and talking about the future of the Federation. Only now seemed free from the difficult work of rebuilding the coin bra.

When they realized Noel had arrived, they greeted him with applause. I am told to take the head of the toast to re-compartmentalize it again.

"Terra! Our Viceroy Noel will take the head of the toast! Be thankful to listen still! Shut up and I'll kick your ass!

"Parents are the best!

"You see the Governor. Hit him! It's annoying!"

Not even a curse to be showered, Barbus raises a liquor bottle.

"Ugh! I'm fine, you idiots! Hey, sit down there, you shady bitch!

"Chip, you're as loud as ever. The gray-haired monkey! You don't have to tell me. I'm gonna sit down! - Out of the way, out of the way!

"Oh, come back later!

"Oh?"

After the termite party and ligret did it for a while, the place finally quieted down.

"Uh, I became the first Governor of the Liberian Union a while ago, Noel Vossheit."

When Noel stands before everyone and says hello, he is wrapped in great cheer. Seeing it, Noel laughs calmly.

"Thank you very much for celebrating. I'm so happy to have such a cup of company."

"Captain! Congratulations!

In cheer, Noel decides to speak seriously for once. Maybe I'll never get another chance like this again. So I have to tell them what to tell them.

"This is so important, I want you to listen to me. … I will head to the western part of Bahr as soon as I am ready to establish the Governor's Office. And you will fight on the front lines with the Imperial Army. That means we're going to fight the Black Yang Knight again, called the most elite in the Empire. Not only that, but I'm sure you'll have to fight a lot of enemies for a long time. 'Cause that's what the Governor does."

Soldiers listening to Noel's words. The standing voice is completely gone.

"I'm going to do my best. Because that's what I promised when I became Governor. But I can't win alone. Alone, I found that there was a limit to what I could do."

Noel gets the word there once, and goes on.

"But with everyone, I think we can fight to the end, no matter who they are. So, please, I want you to fight with me to the end. But you don't have to follow me if you think I can't. Because this is war, there are a lot of war victims. I want you to think for yourself and make your own decisions, not my orders. … it's a celebratory feast, but also a farewell feast."

When Noel says so, Barbus stands up instantly.

"I've decided to follow the captain! Whatever it is, I don't know who it is! But I won't force you. Just like the mine, think and decide with your head! Complain after you've made up your mind. If you do, I'll kick you out, so be it!!

"We've decided to fight the devil to the end. I'll follow you everywhere."

"Oh, me too! I'm not going home on my way back! Protect your land with your own hands!

The termite party, Willa Island soldiers, and the milt also rose. And just keep going, everyone keeps getting up. Ligret, plus Cynthia, Elgar's appearance was there at some point.

Maybe there will be a lot of people who just have momentum. That's what morale is all about. But Noel was happy. Because you asked me to follow you, and you answered yes. Then I thought that would be good now.

"Oh well. Guys, you really don't have a choice. I'm telling you, a lot of people die. He said he'd come home."

"Hehe, the captain who's always on the front line says that?

To Barbus' words, Noel scratches his nose in the blindfold.

'Cause it's my fault.'

"Well, I'll have a toast, please. I can't wait till my throat's full."

Barbus pours alcohol into the glass.

"Yeah, okay. - Everybody ready for a toast?

"Anytime you want!

"Ok. Cheers to everyone here and your fellow Federation members!!

"Cheers to His Excellency Governor Noel! Long live the Liberian Confederation!

More hustle and bustle wrap up the barracks than just now, along with toast signals. Elgar is mocked by the soldiers of a drunk woman and stripped by a hasty Cynthia. Barbus is mad when Liguret throws him a liquor bottle. Milt and Cal are drinking their little ones while being drunk by the momentum. Perius, Royer is smudging in the corner of the room. The parents and daughters of Ilvan and Ilm, as well as the Muslims, who do not know when they have come, are squeezing alcohol with suspicious congratulations. I'm sure this is what it looks like today during Madres.

(From all countries, all kinds of people come together and make a lively noise. I wonder if it would be more fun if the world were like this)

If we could have all enjoyed doing this as companions over the barriers of status, country, race and religion. That must be very difficult, but what we have in front of us is the very sight Noel thinks. Little by little, maybe we can.

With that in mind, Noel had fun. And he jumped into the circle of soldiers.
