Chapter 576 - 112: The Birth of an Epoch-Making Goal
To put it bluntly, it was completely the wrong way to take the shot, but Wang Shuo forced it anyway.
So much so that when Wang Shuo took the shot, even his Dortmund teammates were surprised.
On the sidelines, sitting on the visiting team’s bench, Klopp brought both hands to his face and wiped it vigorously, unable to stop smiling.
"This little rascal is really trying to make headlines, isn’t he!"
"I told him you can’t force a goal, but he just won’t listen."
Klopp scolded him with a laugh.
His tone couldn’t hide his fondness for Wang Shuo.
"Oh, give me a break. Does he need you to teach him?" Buvac huffed, retorting defiantly.
"What’s that supposed to mean?" Klopp was not amused.
"You’ve played your whole life and haven’t scored as many goals as he has in a single season. You have the gall to teach him how to score?"
By the end of it, both Buvac and Krawietz were roaring with laughter.
Klopp, completely unflustered, replied, "Yes, I’m no goalscorer, but I know how to read the game."
"It’s the same principle as me being a terrible player but a great head coach, isn’t it?"
"But I don’t seem to recall, Jurgen... did you ever score a goal in the Bundesliga?" Krawietz asked in a mock-humble tone, posing a devastatingly cruel question.
Buvac absolutely lost it.
Klopp’s face fell instantly. "Peter, I’m very disappointed in your professional competence."
Buvac chimed in from the side, "Exactly. He’s never even played in the Bundesliga, so how could he have scored?"
The two of them burst out laughing again.
Klopp couldn’t sit still any longer.
’I can’t stay on this damn bench a second longer!’
"I’m telling you both, I may have never played in the Bundesliga or scored a single goal, but a player that I coached is about to break Gerd Müller’s all-time record!"
With that, Klopp walked over to the touchline. He saw Wang Shuo take another shot, but it missed the goal again.
He wasn’t worried. He just shouted loudly to Wang Shuo, "Wang Shuo, be patient! Don’t rush it! You’re just claiming what’s yours!"
But what you’re shattering is the glass ceiling for Bayern, for the entire Bundesliga, and even for all of the Five Major European Leagues!
...
After another Dortmund attack came to nothing, Bayern’s goalkeeper, Craft, opted for a short goal kick.
Bayern’s short goal kicks were rather interesting.
Tymoshchuk and Badstuber positioned themselves wide apart.
The two full-backs pushed further up the field, while Schweinsteiger dropped back to receive the pass.
Tymoshchuk was positioned at the left corner of the penalty area, while Badstuber appeared to the right, just outside the top of the arc.
Craft chose to pass the ball to the team’s creative core, Schweinsteiger.
Schweinsteiger controlled the ball in open space, turned, and began to dribble forward.
Everyone burst into motion.
As Schweinsteiger dribbled forward, Bayern’s defensive line pushed steadily higher up the pitch.
As Schweinsteiger dribbled out of the 30-meter zone, Wang Shuo stopped tracking back and instead sprinted toward him to apply pressure.
Before Wang Shuo could get close, Schweinsteiger quickly played a square pass to Badstuber.
Wang Shuo had anticipated it. He changed his angle of approach mid-sprint, darting away from Schweinsteiger and toward Badstuber.
With Bayern’s defensive line still pushing up, Wang Shuo’s diagonal run effectively placed him in the channel between Tymoshchuk and Badstuber.
This was deliberate.
Unable to pass to Tymoshchuk, Badstuber immediately played a diagonal pass forward and to his right, returning the ball to Schweinsteiger.
But the moment Schweinsteiger received it, a prepared Götze was instantly upon him, forcing the Bayern midfielder to quickly turn and shield the ball.
But just as Schweinsteiger turned, Grosskreutz shot in from the side, powerfully muscling his way between Schweinsteiger and the ball. He won the tackle and knocked it forward with a strong touch.
Wang Shuo was instantly on the move.
Bayern’s defense was also rapidly retreating.
Grosskreutz surged forward with the ball, charging ahead relentlessly. As he reached the top of the arc, he threaded a diagonal pass into the space behind Badstuber.
In that exact instant, Wang Shuo burst into a sprint, darting from behind Badstuber into the right side of the box. He ran onto Grosskreutz’s pass and, without even taking a touch, hit it first-time with the inside of his boot.
The goalkeeper, Craft, had rushed out to the right corner of the six-yard box, but before he could even make a move, the ball flew past him and nestled into the inside of the left side-netting.
"GOALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL!!!!"
"In the 7th minute! Just seven minutes into the match, Wang Shuo has scored!"
"That’s his 41st goal of the season!"
"A legendary and historic record has been broken here today at the Allianz Arena!"
"But at the same time, a brand-new record has been born!"
"With a simple, unflashy run and a right-footed shot to the far corner, Wang Shuo has scored a goal that will define an era!"
An ecstatic Wang Shuo ran off the pitch and all the way to the base of the stands where the Dortmund supporters were, celebrating wildly with the fans.
The fans in attendance raised their placards in unison, forming the number 41 in black text on a yellow background.
There weren’t many people involved, and the display wasn’t huge, but its significance was immense!
Wang Shuo had imagined this moment over and over again.
But he never thought his 41st goal would come so effortlessly, so simply.
