The God Slaying Hero and the Seven Covenants

Lesson Six: The Commercial City of Merdiole 2

When it comes to port towns, ships.

More than a dozen merchant ships dock in the port of Merdiole, and more than an equivalent number of military ships are anchored in the back. When it comes to the big difference between a merchant and a military ship, it's only about the size of a ship. If this is our world, it might have cannons on it, but there's no such thing as cannons on military ships in this world. There are more convenient sorceries than cannons, so it's natural.

White soldier fights if they're attached to demons, and if they're far away, they blow them up with magic. This is how we fight at sea in this world.

Made of wood, the shape is close to that of a Galeon ship that was active during the great voyage era on Earth. There are three to five sail columns, and because of the shallow "neatness" of eating water, the speed can be achieved, and a lot of luggage can be loaded. On the other hand, because they are vulnerable to side-to-side shocks, they can be out of balance, not only with attacks from demons, but also with large waves, and they can have the worst overturns.

While military ships are the same wooden ships, they are more horizontal and balanced than merchant ships. There are the same number of sail columns, but they are not fast because they are deeply stuffed. It is now folded, but the sail bears the national chapter of Imnesia.

The crew consists of about 300 people on merchant ships and about 500 to 700 people on military ships. Some kind of sight even felt intimidating was spreading in the harbor.

"This is amazing again."

Fayrona squeaks with a squeaky look, different from the usual calm atmosphere. Its gaze turned to the ship, followed by a slightly cloudy sea that spread at its feet, and again to the ship. Is that funny, Mululu observing such a fayrona?

"New to the ship?

"Oh, I wasn't too far from the woods."

"Yes.... very fast"

"Right."

When Mululu hears him bragging somewhere, Fayrona hits the gavel with a laugh. That place also looks like a sibling.

Seeing how it is, Solnea turns her gaze toward the ship.

"What's wrong?

"No, a lot of people ride," he said.

Apparently he was watching someone aboard the ship, not the ship. Dozens of personnel work, even if they simply put their luggage on a merchant ship that is more than once smaller than a military ship. I wish I could float my luggage with magic like a fantasy here, but this place is realistically manpower. Anything, they say that magic consumes magic unexpectedly when it comes to carrying luggage.

Ami has carried more than a dozen barrels (tall) at once before, but it seems to be an unsatisfactory magic move to protect the goddess.

From what I can tell, it seems easier and easier to carry. The inability to use magic is inconvenient inside. The difference in perceptions around here is remarkable, and the conversation doesn't engage. Anyway, that's why they think I'm a sub like Elf and Pixie.

"Oh, we're gonna need more than a hundred people to move the ship."

"Really?"

"If there is a wind, just widen the sail and the ship will proceed, but if there is no wind, we need to row in oars"

"All, you mean?

"He's jumping out of the bottom of the ship, like a bug's foot."

'I don't know about that expression...'

That's good, because it looks like it to me. Solnea is rare, watching the ol' as she listens to me.

He looks up at us stopping and laughs at the men he thinks are sailors who have passed by. That would feel more like a delight than a mockery at the fresh reaction shown by Faerona and Solnea.

For sailors, a ship is life itself. I recall being told that swordsmen are more proud and happy than anything that they can see the ship and get a fresh response, just as forests are for elves. Belief in my job, or the idea of having a single core, is something I like and still remember.

… It's a good memory that after leaving the port, they used it as much as they wanted. Was the mouth the source of the disaster, or was it a good experience too? What a difficult memory to judge.

"Range?"

"No, it's nothing. So, are you worried about something?

"You can ask me a lot, Mr. Solnea. Mr. Lotus, I know everything."

"... I know everything, not really."

When Ami tells me that, it stinks. Do something. Perhaps Ami is more knowledgeable in the sense of knowing things. I know wide and shallow, but he's narrow and deep. Besides, I'm good at explaining.

Not realizing my thoughts like that, Ami is standing there laughing at Couscous and pinching Solnea and me and looking up at the ship. I feel a "femininity” I didn't feel a year ago and laugh bitterly at the trick of holding my hair down with my hands that was about to be caught by the wind. Should I see that as growth, or has there been some change in my feelings for Ami?

"What's up, have you fallen in love with the view?

"That's the place."

Ugh, exhale and Elmen Hilde teases me. Shoulder to shoulder with that voice, Ami looked up at me as she tilted her neck. If you say anything and shake your neck to the side, it doesn't look like it's falling off your chest, but it's not much of a pursuit.

"But is Faerona new to the ship"

"Right. I'm looking forward to it, but there's also the fear that something this big will really go down the ocean."

"Ha. Certainly."

"A piece of wood floats in the water, so I guess that's the principle."

"You just have to think about that. Kuck, I look forward to getting on the boat with you."

"You're being mean, as always"

As far as I'm concerned, I don't think so.

When I said that, I was sighed out by everyone except Solnea. Of course, it's from Elmen Hilde. This is the way it's always treated.

Mululu doesn't seem to care much that Miss Francesca isn't here. No, are you intentionally trying not to care? For a while, Ami will need to be careful.

"Hehe. Now if you're surprised, you'll be more surprised after you get on the boat, won't you?

"I see."

"Hmm... that's exciting"

When Ami says so to the two watching the ship, Solnea replies with a slightly rubbed voice, with a flat voice that still doesn't feel any emotional ups and downs. Solnea is the same, but the sight of Fayrona, who is more excited than usual, is rare, and Mululu and I meet each other in the face.

"Okay, Range. Can you move the ship, too?

Does that have anything to do with knowledge?

The expression directed at me is the same as usual, but it looks back into my eyes somewhere like a peek inside. That gaze is embarrassing, he looks at me with a scratch on his cheek and makes Ami look ridiculously bloated.

Unfortunately, I don't know how to move a ship.

"Is there something you can't do with a range?

"What are you looking at me like?

When the phrase is funny and looses its mouth, Solnea gives a strangely kyotonic look. I don't know why I'm laughing. That's ridiculous again, but I'm sure that doesn't make sense to Solnea right now either.

"There are more things I can't do."

"Really?"

But it was Muru who reacted to my words. I look up with a frigid gaze.

"Range behaves differently than what you say in your mouth"

"... that's terrible, you"

'Cause I try to leave what I can to others... ha'

Drop your shoulders and Faerona and Ami will laugh at you.

"A ship is not like moving alone."

"What do you mean?

"The captain is there, and the sailors who follow his instructions are there. There are other lieutenants, sailors... there are so many people out there that this big ship moves."

But what I wanted to say didn't seem to tell Solnea much, and I'm waiting for the next word instead of responding.

I'm not very good at explaining it, but its looking a little funny. Still, today, I think you ask me a lot of questions... and I recall that I was the one who told you to ask Miss Francesca if anything happened in front of her house.

What, are you submissive to what I said? It's like I've been waiting for you to tell me.

"What, are you interested in the ship?

"No."

But the words that followed were indescribable. The same faceless expression that can be directed at me dropping my shoulders is a push of weakness.

"Just because the range seems interested"

"Huh?"

It could be Ami, not me, who reacted to that word. Perhaps something like an insurmountable wall exists between Ami and Solnea.

"Range, are you interested in ships?

"I mean ships, I guess I like the ocean. I am."

Beautiful scenery, unpolluted by science, in the sea breeze. Now if there's no demons, I think it's full. In a swimsuit sense. Well, a giant fish (aspidoceron) that you can see from time to time doesn't even look like a whale (crumb), so you can also enjoy it as part of the scenery with an array. A giant fish (aspidoceron) is not a harmless demon. It's just that it's too huge a problem.

"The sea, is it?"

"The view from the top of the ship is amazing. Good walking and horse trips, but good boats"

When I laugh like that, I turn my gaze to the ship again, Solnea. From its side, I still can't read my emotions. I just don't even look as keen as I was looking at it earlier.

Observing such a sornair, I was gently grabbed (attached) by my left hand from the top of my clothes. When I turned my gaze to that tense person, Ami was looking at me half-eyed.

"Well, I can't keep looking at the ship, and it's time to go to the guild"

"Right."

"Yeah."

Faerona and Mululu respond to my voice. Solnea also takes her gaze off the ship and walks out in a way that follows her to those two.

"Let's go too."

"Right."

…………

The power to clasp his left hand is weakened, and he grins bitterly at Ami walking out while picking his sleeve with his fingertips in such a shape.

Walking like this without Fayrona and the others noticing is also fresh inside. I think so. With that in mind, I laugh bitterly.

"Like not getting lost?

"... I'm not a child anymore"

When I opened the door of the guild in Merdiole, several gazes pointed this way. But when we realize we're adventurers, that gaze is missed, like we've lost interest.

Looking inside, dozens of adventurers are each at liberty. About half of them eat the alcohol and food they bring in. I look at that, and I tilt my neck. Did something happen to you?

"What will you do, Mr. Lotus?

"I'll listen to you. Be nice to your face, too. Just give me a minute."

It's also weird to be standing at the entrance, so I decide to ask Amida to wait at the table. I'm used to this sort of thing, I'd be better off. Besides, I know a lot of people in this guild.

About two years ago, I stayed in Merdiole for about a month to crusade against demons. It would be nice to rely on a handover then.

With that in mind, I walk over to the receptionist. Like the guild in the Wang capital, there are several adventurers lined up on each of the counters with multiple receptions available. In time, when the fewest people are in line, slap the shoulders of the adventurers who are in the last row. Then he looked back at me with a very troublesome looking face.

"... what the fuck?

"Is something wrong? It seems busy in the guild for a long time."

"Oh. There was a big demon crusade last night. Now we're splitting the reward."

I see.

Goblin crusade that previously took place in the magic city. At that time, there was a need to divide the rewards for crusading massive amounts of goblins with many people, but this time the rewards seem to be divided for crusading big demons with multiple adventurers.

It's not unusual, but it looks like there are more than twenty adventurers in the Alliance right now. When it comes to demons that need so many... is it an auga? That too, multiple.

"Did you even crusade in an orga?

"It's bigger."

A man who laughs proudly when he tells you not to get hurt, hehe. Around thirty years old, I have an atmosphere where I have quite a bit of experience. At least, it doesn't have the kind of atmosphere where you call an oak or harpy degree a big guy.

It's Griffin, Griffin.

"... Griffin?

"Oops. They're bird-eyed. I climbed all night last night."

The man boasts, but as for this one, he just has to lean his neck. Anyway, I saw that griffin on my way to Merdiole.

'What are you talking about, this man?

Now. I want to fully agree with Ermenhilde's words, but not in any way the wind that he's lying about. More importantly, the atmosphere in the Alliance is soothing.

"Griffin would've seen it, too, wouldn't he?

"Oh, I didn't crusade them all."

With that one word, I don't get it extra. Did not crusade the whole thing mean that you crusaded only a few? Griffin is a powerful warcraft, but he's the one who can handle it as long as he knows how to crusade. Some guilds are not just human, but subhuman - there are probably elves and dwarves that are crossing from the Elflame continent. Warcraft, which does not exist on this continent, is also a daily counterpart on the other continent. Is it normal to think that you crusaded with their wisdom?

It's a pleasure in itself, but it's strange that it hasn't been wiped out at once. Griffin acts on a female male's turn. The subpeople should know what that means.

You're suspicious of me tilting your neck, looking at me with a face like a man sees weird things.

"I'm sorry. Good for you, Griffin."

"Sort of. You want to hear my story?

"Next time."

I'm interested, but I'm going to say no because it's going to be a long story. Blonde hair on burnt skin, small scratch over left eye. I remember your face, so if you want information, you can look for it.

A few minutes to wait in order with that in mind. Standing in front of the counter, the receptionist looked at my face and dropped his gaze on the material and looked at my face again.

"Range!?

"Whoa. Sounds like you're thriving, Douglam"

It was Douglam who raised his voice of surprise. I forgot my real name, but that's what they call me from around here. Dark beard in brown hair, burnt skin specific to people living in Port Town. He's a lot less tall than me, but he's got a width for it. It's not about obesity either, it's all about muscles.

Dwarf. A stranger who loves iron and heat so much but lives as a clerk for his guild. That is the man named Douglam. By the way, it would also be a race called Dwarf to have such a thick bearded face that my age is almost the same as mine.

When that loud voice sounded in the guild, I felt most of my gaze pointed at me.

"Temeye, you idiot. Where have you been walking so far?!?

That Douglam strangles me with both hands with my collar neck as I kneel on the counter with the momentum raised by surprise. I know you're not serious, but the idiotic power and head specific to Dwarf shakes me and I can't determine my point of view.

"I was worried because I heard you disappeared. Stupid bastard."

"Ah, ah..."

Even as I reply, I shake my head all over again. Douglam, so excited not to notice me like that, still rocks me with his grasp on my collar as he shouts.

'Hey, Douglam. The range...'

"Is Elmen Hilde here?

"Oh, I'm here..."

"Damn, this idiot. I'm still worried sick."

'So, Douglam. The range...'

Then they kept shaking me until I was sick and pale in the face. No, I could have swung it off, but it's true that I made you worry, and you said you missed this exchange.

By the way, it was Ami who helped me, so I was even more surprised. It was for the record that Gram rocked me so hard.

I also enjoyed baptizing other adventurers who noticed me in that commotion in the name of welcome, but I hope you don't recommend alcohol from daylight. No matter how much I do, I'm not going to drink in front of Ami from day to day. Isn't it bad for a child's emotional education?... I'll drink if I'm hiding.

"Yeah... disgusting..."

"Excuse me. Excuse me. Hey, hasn't it been two years?

Reflections seem to be, Douglam apologizing as he scratches his head in embarrassment. As far as I'm concerned, I'm not that angry, and I'd rather be happy because it was a nostalgic exchange.

"Not at all."

"I'm sorry. I'm sorry. You're right."

"No, I'm not angry."

"Right. That's who you are, Range."

You're changing fast, you son of a bitch.

Ami, who had rubbed her back, was sighing.

"Aya's grown, too."

"Mr. Douglam is no different."

"Ha ha. You don't know Dwarf won't get any bigger?

"... that's not what I meant"

And sigh again.

It would also be difficult to tell Douglam to understand the sincerity of the word. He's an upright guy, like running down the path he believed in. That's why I can like it, and I miss this kind of exchange and I'm happy to feel it and forgive it.

"So, what about the three of us? Introduce me."

"Oh. To Fayrona the Elf, Mulu the Beast Man. And it's Solnea. We're traveling together."

"Oops. Murr to Fayrona. And that's Solnea."

Douglas whispers my words in disgust. It doesn't mean I don't remember things well, but that seems like a habit.

"Non is Douglam. As you can see, it's Dwarf."

Nikah, and Ami puts on a troubled face to Dwarf, who introduces herself with a hot, painful smile. You don't like this hot, bitter greeting for a long time? Utano and Kudo also said they weren't very good at it, so apparently this hot, bitter smile is repugnant to the women.

And now, Mululu looks at Douglam and smiles like he's in trouble, and then he turns his gaze towards me. I think you want me to do something about it. I mean, it's not that much of a smile I care about from a man's point of view.

"Hey, Douglam. Stop smiling because the women are in trouble."

"Ugh! I wouldn't have said anything."

I'm laughing luxuriously, but that's because I'm just worried about you and I won't say anything.

Even that Utano-san will shut up in front of this smile. I guess there are places where I think as a woman it's hard to feel hot even though she looks happy.

And you said, "Faerona."

"Oh, oh."

Fayrona, who was called out, replies as if surprised. Apparently rare, Faerona is also surprised by Douglam's smile. You've been amazed since you came to Merdiole. Interesting inside, and it would be a good experience for Faerona. Well, it's a good experience for someone who's lived longer than me, I don't know.

"You, Dwarf, are you all right, Kuchi?

"Hmm? That's..."

"There's an elf in there who just doesn't like Dwarves. Well, I think the Range guys will be fine..."

"Is that what you mean? I don't really care."

"Right, right."

And also, Douglam with a hot, painful smile. I know I'm happy, but I've told you many times not to smile at me in front of a woman.

You know, Ami, Mululu, and Fayrona, who look at me with troubled faces. The same sornair, strangely surreal.

Speaking of which, a beverage for a number of people is placed on the table. I didn't ask for it, but it seems extravagant. To thank you, a strange-faced guilder smiled and confessed to me.

"That's a face you don't see."

"Really?

Douglas leans his neck strangely to my words. Girls will be cute when they do it, but it's not hot and painful when they have a bitter dwarf.

"He's the kid you used to help."

"Really?

That's what I was told, and I turn my gaze to the guilder earlier back inside the counter. Something like a little above twenty when I was a year old? The blue hair is wrapped up in an up and the neck and ears peeking from the hair look colorful. The skin is burning healthy and gives a lively impression.

Douglam says I helped, but I don't remember much. I know it's rude, but I think with my fingers on my jaw...... and Ami poked me in the elbow.

"If you stare, you're rude, aren't you?

"... Yes"

So why are you so afraid of smiling? Since I embarked on this journey, I feel like Ami is becoming more and more successful every day.

Looking at me like that, Douglas laughed out loud.

"What, you're already laid on your ass?

"Oh, shit."

"Don't even say it, Aya. Ha ha, the booze is going to taste good tonight, Range."

Ami who leans down to that one word and Douglam who looks at Ami like that and makes her voice even higher.

"Faerona. What about you, booze?

"Wow, is that me?

"No, fine. He's a Range buddy, that's a pretty good mouth, isn't it?

"What's my standard in you?

What, the idea that my people could drink? No, well, I can drink quite a bit of Faerona. You can't crush me if I'm drunk.

"Don't you dare, leave the liquor story alone. Douglas, let me talk to Griffin."

Forcing me to go back to the story of being derailed, the obviously relieved breathing faces. Are you that bad, Douglam's smile? All I don't realize is who I am...... no, don't you really care about Solnea?

"Griffin? The guy who lived in the mountains?

"Oh. I saw it before I went into Merdiole, but you're not going to crusade?

"That's what it is."

Demons crusade. That's natural if you're an adventurer. As far as I've heard earlier, some Griffin probably lived in the mountains, but he's been successful in the crusade. Then why not destroy them all? Douglam is also a dwarf from the Elflame continent, I'm sure you know Griffin's threat.

Douglas scratches his head like he's spicy to say something, like he noticed my expression. I say it for a while and mouth the prepared beverage. By the way, me and Douglam's glass can be poured liquor.

"Honestly, I was just having trouble with what to do"

"... From what I've just heard, some of them have crusaded."

"Well, it's just a griffin. As long as we have the numbers, we can do whatever we want. Fortunately, there are many adventurers in Merdiole with experience in Griffin exorcism"

"Really?

"It's not a port town to Dada. In the past year, the number of adventurers from Elflame has increased all at once."

That's good. Purely, the quality of demons is different here in the continents of Imnesia and Elflame. If you interact more with adventurers across the street with a variety of experiences, that's all positive for Imnesia as well.

I think so, but Douglam's expression is dark. No... rather than dark, do you feel like you said you were in trouble?

"Maybe what you saw was top (arc) Griffin."

I exhaled into the words. Ami next door, too, is holding her face down with her hands. Mululu and Fayrona also seemed to know the name, and the look had surprises on their faces.

"I see. That's true, I can't get my hands on it."

"It was last night that I realized. Only half came back for the crusade."

"... and some of them were happy to talk about it."

"I didn't see that one. There are three Griffin nests, and one of them is the Arc Griffin nest."

I mean, did the guy you just talked to get lucky with just Griffin?

Arc Griffin. It has an arc on its head, but its ecology is no different than that of a normal griffin. It's just called Griffin, who lived long enough to grow up. But warcraft is troublesome, and growing up and getting old is all that makes it strong.

Griffin, who receives the protection of the Wind Spirit (Sylph), will be able to more skillfully draw strength from the Spirit as he ages. At an early age, protection that only protects itself from arrows can be gradually converted to attack, or can be flown faster. Depending on the degree of arc griffin, it can also be blown with a growl or disturbed by a high range of voices to interfere with sorcery.

Pretty nasty opponent. Nor does it inhabit the continent of Elflame - it is a warcraft like being in Arbenelm.

"How did Arch Griffin get to Imnesia?

Quicker than I open my mouth, Ami asks Douglam a question. To that question, Douglam flaunted his shoulders.

"I don't know. I showed up about ten days ago."

"I don't know..."

"Even if they say so. Non and the others thought it was just a griffin at first. Ten days ago, there was a storm at sea, and I just thought it was Griffin brought in by that storm."

"But there was something else mixed up."

And if I attacked you, did you mean Griffin wasn't the only one? It was also...... an adventurer who fought Arch Griffin would not have been in a nightmare. More than once than Griffin is huge and fierce. The attack is harsh because it uses not only mouth (beak) and nails, but also spiritual magic with the help of silf.

Crusade requires more than just adventurers, but Knights humans.

"What about survival?

"There's two of us at the treatment center, but we're not in a position to talk."

"... right"

I guess it's better not to ask too many people how many went for it. I guess it's a miracle that survival was there, but is it that dangerous that you can't talk?

"Nevertheless. Who hasn't panicked when so many big men are beside us?

"Or so. First of all, the only people on Elflame's side who realize that Griffin is an arc griffin. And I haven't divulged this information to anyone but the Alliance."

I see. I look around, but no one's interested in our story, and I'm not responding to giving you a name. I never see an arc griffin on this continent, and I'm guessing there's no adventurer with such demonic information in his head. I can also snort that the only adventurer I know is the one on Elflame's side.

If you're not a human or a scholar who needs to go as far as Arbenelm as we are, why don't you study demons that certainly don't exist?

"And there are goblins and harpies in the vicinity. I'm sure you don't have a problem with food."

That's the only salvation, Douglam mutters. You're absolutely right. Griffin is a carnivore, so if there were no other demons around, he would have attacked Merdiole right next door.

"What about the crusade?

"I'm consulting with Wang Du right now. I don't really care, but maybe I'll help the Knights."

"Right."

It goes beyond the range of problems that can be solved by the power of the Alliance, but still I guess there is pride as an Alliance.

There's nothing I can do about all that.

"Tell me if there's anything I can do to help."

"... okay?

"If there's anything I can do to help,"

"Kuk. Ooh, I love you, best friend"

That's what I'm gonna say, Douglam, and I'm gonna slap you on the back with my stupid powers. It's like being beaten with a stick of wood.

'Nothing, can I crusade you?

In the meantime, Ermenhilde says horrible things.

But Ami thought the same thing. She's turning her gaze to me. Faerona and Mululu don't seem to say anything to leave it to me.

"Thank you, Ermenhilde, Aya. But you can't rely on heroes from one to ten, can you?

"You don't have to worry..."

"Ami"

Stop Ami, who almost said something.

The Alliance has the idea of an Alliance. If you're in consultation with Wang Du, I'm sure this information has reached Utano and O'Brien as well. Those two know we're coming to Merdiole. They'll either move the Knights after they find out about it, or they'll tell us to crusade them in the form of a request. There is also a wealth of bait around the arc griffin. It's not like this right now, so it would be enough to wait for it and then move.

Ami can certainly defeat Arc Griffin, but this job is guild business. First you have to respect the guild's ideas and take them when you get a request.

No matter how many titles you have as heroes, it doesn't mean you can step into someone else's work. No matter how backward it may seem. There are so many things you have to put up with.

"I'm going to stay at Merdiole for a while. We're always ready to move."

"It would help if you did that"

"Ha. Anyway, you call me when you crusade"

"No. I'll just talk to you about the reward."

I guess that's what you call it. The little difficult story is a cup ring to match at the end, all together and drink up at once.

"Pfft."

"Why is alcohol so delicious after a difficult time?"

"Totally."

And we all laugh at each other.

"Hot and painful......"

Don't you see how good this smile is, you.

"Please don't drink alcohol from daylight, Mr. Lotus"

"What, Aya? Are you angry that Nong took the range?

"Looks like you're already drunk, Mr. Douglam"

".................. oops"

Look at Ami's smile, Douglas groans. And he leaned into my ear.

"Lady, you're starting to look something like Yuko"

"A woman gets stronger when she's older, Douglam."

To the whispering Douglas, I'll whisper it back, too.

'Right, right. Aya'

"Mr. Lotus, I'm going to the inn. Right now."

Well, I knew what I was hearing. You know what I said, Ami. The words uttered on it sounded very low.

Because Mululu can leave Douglam, or he's already up from his seat. Faerona is also about to stand up with herself and Solnea's luggage in her hand. I don't like Douglam's hot, bitter smile that much, you guys.

"Was the inn where you were staying before?

"Oh."

"I'm going to ask you out at night, I'm going for a drink"

"Oh, I'll wait for you."

"Aren't you willing to refrain from drinking a little?

And after all, Douglam smiles hot and bitter.

Shoulder to shoulder at Elmen Hilde's voice is almost at the same time as Ami pulls her coat (cape). Is this also meant to be laid on the butt?
