Bai Xiaobo asked blankly, "Where’d the other ten cents go?"

Ling Shuyu sneered. "The can is worth ten cents."

’I stole Boss Su’s line this time. He must be pretty upset, right?’

’Take that, you show-off!’

Su Chen, not at all bothered that his line had been stolen, patted Bai Xiaobo’s shoulder. "When you meet a girl who opens a Coca-Cola and lets you have the first sip, you should marry her."

’He’s insane!’

’Ling Shuyu was really about to lose her mind. How can he even follow up on that?’

’She didn’t want to hear another word from Su Chen. The boss was great in every other way, but when would he ever change this show-off personality of his?’

SLURP, SLURP!

Ling Shuyu buried her head, stuffing noodles into her mouth. ’These noodles looked so plain, just a clear broth, but they’re surprisingly delicious?’

The dragon beard noodles’ unique chewiness and elasticity made them feel both substantial and soft, providing a very pleasant texture. The crispy, Blast-fried texture of the fried egg added another layer of fragrant crunch to the bowl.

Overall, the flavor was clean and refreshing.

Every bite of the steaming hot noodles seemed to chase away a bit of her weariness.

"GLUG, GLUG, GLUG~"

Xiaobai drank every last drop of soup from his bowl, then chugged a big mouthful of ice-cold coke. "Hic—Awesome! I’m really sober now."

He hadn’t actually been drunk, just dazed from drinking too fast.

This bowl of noodles hit the spot. It was a comforting feeling that perhaps only someone who’s been drunk before could understand.

A simple bowl of noodles in clear broth, enough to soothe a drunken soul.

Su Chen and Ling Shuyu finished eating soon after. "Alright, now that we’re all full, Shuyu, you should give Xiaobai a ride home. He can’t drive in his condition."

Ling Shuyu nodded, then glanced at his floral shorts and immediately shook her head. "I think I’ll just... call him a car."

Xiaobai: *Am I not even worthy of a ride in your car? Huh?*

Ling Shuyu added, "I have to get a design out tomorrow, so I’m pulling an all-nighter!"

About ten minutes later, the company fell quiet again. After all the commotion, it was already midnight.

Su Chen returned to the break room in his office and flopped down on the bed, completely satisfied. ’Life seems to be heading in the right direction!’

He fell into a peaceful sleep before his mind could even begin to wander.

...

「The next morning, at the entrance of Meiweilai Company.」

"This can’t be right. When I came at this time the day before yesterday, the boss was already selling steamed buns."

"Yeah, it’s strange. Boss Su is usually an early riser. He’s normally up making buns and boiling eggs by five or six."

"You don’t think something happened, do you?"

"Don’t be a jinx! Why would anything happen out of the blue?"

"Exactly. He was fine when I was here for dinner last night. He probably just overslept."

It was only half past seven, but several people were already standing at the entrance.

There was Liu Ahbao, who had arrived early to eat buns and put in some "free labor"; Zhan Yang, who had already gone home and gotten a full night’s sleep; and Brother Fang Chang, who had rushed over at the crack of dawn for tea eggs.

"I gotta say, those tea eggs are really something special. My girlfriend made me so mad at dinner last night I completely forgot about them. It wasn’t until I got home that I found the two eggs in her bag." Brother Fang Chang licked his lips. The mere thought of those tea eggs made his mouth water.

The previous evening, Jiang Yuan had eaten all the Wen Si Tofu herself, which had left Brother Fang Chang quite dejected at the time, making him completely forget about the tea eggs.

As they were leaving, Jiang Yuan had packed up the tea eggs to go.

That night before they went to bed, Brother Fang Chang was getting a face mask for his girlfriend from her bag when he happened to discover the two eggs.

He was already hungry, so he ate them on the spot. But it would have been better if he hadn’t. With just one bite, the clean, fragrant flavor of the egg only made him hungrier.

He got so hungry he ordered stir-fried chicken takeout in the middle of the night, only to throw it all out because it was disgusting.

Back then, Brother Fang Chang had complained to his girlfriend, "How are we supposed to live without Boss Su!"

After a torturous night, as soon as the sun was up, Brother Fang Chang immediately called Zhan Yang. The two of them rushed over to Delicious for a bite, only to be greeted by a locked door, leaving them staring in disbelief.

They waited and waited. At seven-fifty, more people arrived.

Wang Rui stepped out of the elevator to find several people crowding the doorway. "What’s all this? Move on in, don’t just clog up the elevator entrance!"

"Move where? The door’s not even open! Where are we supposed to go?" Zhan Yang shot back, annoyed.

Wang Rui pushed through the crowd and adjusted his black-rimmed glasses. "Huh, that’s weird. Why isn’t he open yet?"

Soon after, the Xinghui employees started arriving one by one. Within minutes, the area in and around the elevator was crammed with people, filled almost to bursting.

"Let’s go, guys, let’s go! If we don’t leave now, we’re all going to be late for work!"

"You guys in General Affairs might be scared of being late, but what do we in the Design Department have to worry about?"

"Hey, stop pushing me! Who just grabbed my ass? Shameless!"

The corridor, not very wide to begin with, was now packed with nearly eighty people. Thankfully, as it approached eight o’clock, one wave left for work, otherwise it would have been even more crowded!

Zhan Yang, sweating buckets from being squashed, leaned against the wall. "What is going on? Is it really worth all this just to get a meal?"

Brother Fang Chang was speechless too. "I’ve never in my life had to fight like this just to eat. I absolutely have to eat here today, no matter what. Otherwise, I’ll be unsettled all day!"

A little later, the crowd thinned out again. Only a few bigwigs who weren’t at all worried about being late remained.

"What are you all doing? Why are you crowding out here instead of going inside?"

At this crucial moment, Aunt Fang arrived!

Stepping out of the elevator and seeing the sea of heads, Aunt Fang shrieked for everyone to make way. She walked up to the company’s main glass door, took out a key, and prepared to open it.

"Oh my, why isn’t Xiaosu up yet?"

She opened the door and hurried in. The large crowd behind her followed, and everyone spontaneously rushed in the direction of the cafeteria.
