Chapter 2560 - 2559: Ice Yuan
Li Chunxi got off the spaceship, and Ling Feng immediately ordered the Ling Yun to set sail, heading straight for the Arctic.
After just a moment, seeing the vast white icefield outside the porthole, Xiangxue’s eyes widened. "Oh my god, you actually got here this fast!"
"Yeah, that’s the power of technology."
Ling Feng smiled, then asked, "Your people back on the home planet, you mean you never developed any kind of technology?"
"No, we’ve been cultivating mental techniques since childhood. We don’t really understand much about nature in that way." Xiangxue shook her head.
"Is that so?"
Ling Feng chuckled. "Then you’re pretty special, actually knowing how a spaceship works."
"That’s easy. Your tech just follows the laws of nature and develops them further, that’s all!" Xiangxue said.
Ling Feng started looking at her in a whole new light. This woman’s IQ was definitely above 150!
With one simple sentence she summed up the origin of human technological development, and most importantly, she’d never even come into contact with a civilized world.
The spaceship stopped. Ling Feng and Xiangxue left the cabin, and then Ling Feng retracted the Ling Yun back into the Space-capturing Mirror.
Seeing this, Xiangxue froze for a moment, then asked in puzzlement, "You actually have spatial equipment that big?"
"Yeah, I got it in Another World."
Ling Feng nodded, then glanced around the icefield. "Where are your people?"
"Not far ahead. Come with me!"
Xiangxue said this and flew straight forward.
When they had gone just over a kilometer, she suddenly lowered her flying altitude. Seeing this, Ling Feng immediately followed.
Then the two of them landed on the icefield.
Nobody knew what Xiangxue did, but the ice in front of them suddenly parted, revealing a passage below.
Ling Feng guessed that she and her people lived inside the ice layers. Seeing the passage going down as a flight of stairs, each step carved very delicately, he couldn’t help but nod to himself in approval.
Several hundred years of building was enough to create a city inside the ice.
Following Xiangxue down the stairs, the two of them kept going lower. It felt like they’d descended dozens of meters, and the temperature around them had gone up a bit by the time they reached flat ground.
Then Ling Feng saw an ice-and-snow world.
All the buildings here were white, built of ice blocks, giving off a vibe like visiting an ice lantern festival.
But the place wasn’t as big as he’d imagined. It looked like there were only a few dozen buildings, about the size of a small town.
Ling Feng looked up and saw that embedded in the ice layer overhead were some glowing objects. It was their light that illuminated the town.
After they entered the town, a few half-grown children saw Xiangxue and immediately ran over, very affectionate toward her.
Then Ling Feng saw more people.
These people weren’t wearing much either, because the temperature inside the ice layer wasn’t actually low, so it wasn’t particularly cold.
Plus, they’d been living here for hundreds of years, so of course they were already used to the temperature.
People were very curious about Ling Feng’s appearance, so most of their gazes focused on him.
Xiangxue’s status was clearly very high, so even though everyone was curious, they didn’t crowd around asking questions.
Xiangxue didn’t explain much, and instead led Ling Feng straight to her own dwelling.
It was a house just like the surrounding buildings, built of opaque white ice blocks. After entering, although the space wasn’t large, it was arranged with great care.
She was a girl after all—her place was very clean and tidied without a single thing out of place.
Ling Feng looked around, taking in the house, when Xiangxue said to him, "Sit down first. I’ll go find our Clan Leader and bring over those writings our ancestors left behind."
"Your writing might not be the same as ours. It’s fine even if you don’t bring it. Just recite it to me." Ling Feng said.
Xiangxue nodded. "I know. I’ll tell you when I get back!"
With that, she turned and went out the door.
Ling Feng sat in Xiangxue’s room feeling a bit bored, but he still forced himself to wait patiently.
After about ten minutes, Xiangxue came back.
Once she was inside and seated, she recited that passage.
Ling Feng listened very carefully. With his current mental capacity, memorizing an obscure piece of text was no problem.
When Xiangxue finished, Ling Feng gave a wry smile. "I can write out all the characters you said, but put together I have no clue what they mean. Especially those numbers—they’re just baffling."
"That’s the position of our home planet in the universe. You don’t understand it, so of course we couldn’t decipher it. That’s why we had to ask for your help."
Xiangxue said, then reminded him, "Your Spaceship System is so powerful—maybe it can decode it?"
"Mm, that’s worth a try!" Ling Feng nodded.
"No rush. Want to go see the Gold first?" Xiangxue asked.
"That’s exactly the thing we shouldn’t rush."
Ling Feng chuckled and stood up. "Let’s go to the spaceship first and see if the system can crack it."
"All right."
Xiangxue got up with him, and the two left together again.
Back up on the icefield, the Ling Yun reappeared, and they both boarded the cockpit.
Once inside, Ling Feng immediately woke the system and recited that obscure passage to it.
The system received the information and promptly said, "Master, decryption will take some time. Please wait."
"Sure."
Ling Feng nodded, then turned to Xiangxue. "Sit down first."
"Okay."
Xiangxue nodded and sat down with him.
Taking advantage of the decoding time, Ling Feng looked at her. "Your race is really different from the Devil Clan, huh?"
"Why do you say that?" Xiangxue asked.
"I’ve been to Australia before. That’s where the Devil Clan’s main nest is. Their population is way bigger than yours!" Ling Feng said.
"That’s normal. The Devil Clan’s way of reproduction is different from humans." Xiangxue said.
Ling Feng thought about it and realized that was true. The Devil Clan were all animals, and animals could have seven or eight offspring in one litter!
But that alone couldn’t make the gap between the two sides that huge, and the Devil Clan’s movements showed they were extremely ambitious. So Ling Feng went on, "Are your home planet and the Devil Clan’s home planet very close to each other?"
"According to the writings our ancestors left, they are indeed quite close. I saw a term in there, called Gemini, but I don’t really understand what it means." Xiangxue said.
Ling Feng made a sound of realization and instantly understood what was going on.
No wonder the two races had to fight to the death. Clearly the distance was too close. Once one side cultivated experts capable of leaving their planet’s bounds, they would naturally target the nearest planet.
