Chapter 2670 - 2669: Fleeing Down the Road
Ling Feng held the phantom of the Chaos Sword, exhaling slowly; the previous strike seemed to have unleashed all the pent-up frustration and grief in his heart.
Wu Yang’s casual slaughter of innocent residents made Ling Feng, who had promised to protect the civilians, extremely angry.
In the ruins in the distance, a beam suddenly flipped over, its pointed end aiming at Ling Feng, and then shot toward him.
Facing the attacking beam, Ling Feng merely took a small step forward, swinging the Chaos Sword horizontally.
"Bang—Crack—"
The beam shattered instantly upon receiving the sword’s blow, fragments swirling in the air, obscuring Ling Feng’s view.
A gust of wind swept in from behind the wooden shards, and Wu Yang used the woodchips as cover, channeling the strength in his arm directly toward Ling Feng’s face.
Ling Feng already knew that the weak attack of the beam was merely a trick; how could Wu Yang stand idly by waiting for Ling Feng to break it slowly?
The Chaos Sword collided with Wu Yang’s fist, and the two were quickly entangled.
Although Ling Feng could not unleash the full power of the Chaos Sword, the sword’s inherent sharpness as a divine weapon of the cosmos still remained.
The instant Wu Yang’s fist touched it, his fist shattered, the sword’s blade almost crushing most of the bones and flesh.
But Wu Yang just watched his fist being shattered, without any sign of pain on his face, even with a hint of a smile.
He withdrew his fist, then gripped the sharp edge of the Chaos Sword with his other hand, grinning:
"This is the weapon that killed the demon child back then; truly a supreme divine weapon, even I must avoid its edge for now, but if that’s all there is,"
"It’s far from enough!"
Wu Yang roared, vomiting a large amount of black fluid from his mouth, and his body quickly shrank, the two bug beasts on his back swiftly falling off.
As the bug beasts fell through the air, they spewed out a large amount of venom, while numerous tentacles and claws attacked Ling Feng.
Ling Feng, facing the attacks from all directions, showed neither a smile nor fear, just watching it all with indifference.
At the next moment, a silver needle of light appeared in Ling Feng’s hand, and as the venom was about to touch his body, he drew a spatial rift in front with the Shadowless Needle.
Then Ling Feng suddenly appeared behind Wu Yang’s "body," and the two bug beasts were immediately chopped into pieces by Ling Feng’s Chaos Sword in mid-air.
The Chaos Sword lifted, and Wu Yang’s rapidly shrinking body was slashed into nothingness, but mysteriously no energy or blood flowed from it.
Realizing something was wrong, Ling Feng swiftly retreated, but it was too late.
A black mist emerged from Wu Yang’s body, twisting and turning, with countless resentful spirits screeching as they lunged toward Ling Feng.
Ling Feng sidestepped them, but his clothes were still torn in places by the claws and teeth of the spirits.
Retreating backwards, the black mist stood in place, slowly revealing Wu Yang’s face; his mouth curled into a terrifying smile.
Numerous resentful spirits roiled and surged on Wu Yang’s black mist body, seemingly trying to break free of the mist and move toward Elysium.
But Wu Yang sealed them all within his body, forcing them to fight on his behalf.
Ling Feng glanced at the pale, shattered body that had shriveled into fragments beside him, and he understood clearly.
This body wasn’t Wu Yang’s true form, but merely a temporary vessel he had fabricated or seized.
And Ling Feng couldn’t be sure if the black mist in front of him was Wu Yang’s true form, not ruling out the possibility of other backhanded tricks.
Wu Yang had just mentioned he was from the Wraith Clan of the Three Realms; wraiths used as tools of combat, as evidenced by the three corpse demons earlier.
"Is it just because we killed one demon child of yours that you rush here seeking revenge?" Ling Feng calmly steadied his mind.
Wu Yang in the black mist chuckled grimly: "That useless fool isn’t worth mentioning; our purpose here this time isn’t for him. You know who the master of the Three Realms is, right?"
"Isn’t it the Lord of the Three Realms? I know him, yet why doesn’t he come himself?"
Wu Yang paused, then burst into laughter, almost becoming manic: "Listening to your tone, you think highly of yourself, don’t you?"
"Aren’t you supposed to be a so-called genius of the Wraith Clan; couldn’t even kill me in a few strikes, I must be quite formidable." Ling Feng smiled.
"A great being like the Realm Master would never stoop to notice a small fry like you. It’s merely because the Xuanxu Realm is somewhat wondrous, otherwise I wouldn’t even bother coming."
"Oh? I’ve been in the Xuanxu Realm for a quite while, yet hadn’t realized it could be wondrous enough to interest the Lord of the Three Realms. Care to elaborate?"
Seeing Wu Yang’s arrogance, Ling Feng didn’t mind lowering his stance to glean more information.
Wu Yang narrowed his eyes: "You don’t need to scheme to extract information from me; these matters are beyond your understanding. Just know that your good days are limited,"
"Once the Realm Master arrives, he can obliterate this entire world of yours with a flip of his hand. No matter how strong you are, what can you do..."
"Alright, alright," Ling Feng dug at his ear, "What a load of nonsense. If he wanted to come, he’d have been here already. I see it’s not the Lord who’s interested in us,"
"But it’s you lackey subordinates wanting to loot something, snatch stuff, but so much chatter for a bandit, truly disgraceful!"
Ling Feng’s words successfully provoked Wu Yang’s anger, his black mist churning continuously.
"You bastard!" Wu Yang roared, releasing all the resentful spirits from his body, then conjuring a python devil beast, aiming all at Ling Feng.
"Oh, a python, huh? I have one too, Little Hei!"
A massive black python immediately appeared before Ling Feng. Little Hei opened its blood-red maw, venom gleaming under the moonlight, scales shining with a powerful light.
Little Hei bit directly at the seven-inch weak point of the black mist python. Being a serpent, it knew where a snake’s weaknesses lay, even if this one was an illusion.
Ling Feng, wielding the Chaos Sword, fought against the approaching resentful spirits and Wu Yang, who was moving yet unknowing of his goal.
The sharpness of the Chaos Sword was incredibly acute, quickly slicing those ordinary spirits into nothingness.
There wasn’t a hint of mercy in Ling Feng’s eyes, even though these spirits might have been once-living humans.
Having dealt with the spirits, Ling Feng blocked Wu Yang, and seeing Ling Feng not restrained by the giant python and spirits, Wu Yang was somewhat surprised.
But this demon’s mindset was extremely stable, having already mapped out the location of the Royal City Cemetery on his way; once he reached the cemetery, his power would skyrocket.
Then the outcome would be unpredictable.
Wu Yang swept past the pale body, absorbing the corpses of the two bug beasts into the black mist.
Realizing something was amiss, Ling Feng tried his best to block him without knowing Wu Yang’s plans or specific abilities.
Wu Yang’s black mist was continuously slashed by the Chaos Sword but quickly healed, and Wu Yang followed a specific path to escape.
"Little Hei, I leave it to you here!" Ling Feng shouted, his moves unwavering.
"Got it!" Little Hei replied succinctly, biting off a piece of the black mist python’s head.
Wu Yang and Ling Feng continued their battle through dark alleys; Ling Feng knew there were residents yet to evacuate, so he restrained the sword’s edge to prevent his power from harming civilians.
But this "womanly kindness" allowed Wu Yang to breathe, and with a forceful black mist, hacked at Ling Feng’s body, slightly unbalancing him, causing the sword to miss, allowing Wu Yang a chance to escape from the most dangerous area.
Watching the fleeing Wu Yang, realizing the danger, Ling Feng immediately summoned Little Fei and mounted it, pursuing Wu Yang with all speed.
