Chapter 2575 - 2574: War
Li Cheng and Li Huang were originally cousins, and because both had a military background, their temperaments were fairly straightforward, so they didn’t stand on ceremony and directly asked what they cared about.
Ling Feng knew that when he had first arrived in the capital, Li Huang had definitely mentioned this to him. Now bringing it up again was simply because he was present and they wanted to question him face to face.
So he didn’t mind, he just glanced at Li Huang, wanting to see how he would answer.
Li Huang merely smiled, then said to Li Cheng, "I know you’re unconvinced about Ling Feng, and you’re worried he has no experience, that he might lead the army of my Li Dynasty astray, or make mistakes in commanding during a war."
At this point he paused, then continued, "But you’re overthinking it. Ling Feng’s abilities are far beyond what you imagine!"
"No matter how capable he is, he’s still a young man with zero battlefield experience. How can he command a million troops?" Li Cheng said.
"Ling Feng, you speak for yourself," Li Huang said.
Hearing that, Ling Feng understood even more clearly: the old man didn’t want to offend a meritorious servant of the state.
So he chuckled, stood up, and said, "Generals, although I’m young, I actually have plenty of combat experience. It’s not like what you’re imagining!"
"Exactly, my husband once single-handedly forced back a hundred thousand soldiers from Dongying. Haven’t you heard about that?" Li Chunxi asked indignantly.
"No matter how strong one person is, there’s a limit. A force of a hundred thousand might be repelled, but what about a million? If the enemy splits their forces and advances on multiple fronts, can one man handle all that?" Li Cheng asked.
"Anyway, my husband can definitely handle it!" Li Chunxi said.
"Princess, you can’t let personal feelings lead you to entrust the nation’s army to someone with no experience!" Li Cheng said.
Ling Feng had intended to speak, but never got the chance to cut in; this uncle and nephew were practically on the verge of a shouting match.
Just as he was feeling speechless, a voice suddenly came through the communicator in his ear: "Master, we’ve found something in outer space!"
"Hm?"
Ling Feng’s brows furrowed, then he asked in a low voice, "What’s going on?"
"We’ve detected a large number of alien ships on their way here. The trajectory shows their target is Earth!" the system aboard Ling Yun said.
"The Demon King is already making a comeback?"
Ling Feng narrowed his eyes, then immediately asked, "How many ships?"
"In total, one thousand and fifty-six. Ten are super-heavy ships, three hundred are comparable in size to myself, and there are seven hundred and forty-six Miniature Spaceships," Ling Yun reported.
Hearing such a large number, Ling Feng drew in a deep breath.
"What is it? An enemy raid on our Huaxia territory?"
Seeing Ling Feng’s expression change, Li Cheng asked in a deep voice.
"That’s right. Didn’t you want to see my capabilities? Perfect timing. How about you come with me?" Ling Feng asked.
Li Cheng was taken aback, then immediately nodded. "Of course."
Li Huang stood up as well. "Where are you going?"
"The Demon King is making a comeback with the supporters behind it," Ling Feng said.
"Are we about to fight an interstellar war?" Li Huang asked in astonishment.
"Yes."
Ling Feng nodded. "The power the enemy is bringing is no joke. There are three hundred warships the size of Ling Yun."
"What!"
Li Huang cried out in shock, completely stunned.
But at this moment Li Chunxi said, "Father Emperor, there’s no need to panic. Even if there were three thousand, Ling Feng wouldn’t be afraid!"
Hearing that, Ling Feng glanced at her, feeling utterly helpless inside.
This girl’s worship of him was bordering on blind.
Three thousand?
Three hundred was already a massive headache, all right!
Even if the Empress of Starlight were here right now, Ling Feng still didn’t feel he’d have much chance of winning, because the enemy’s fleet was simply too large.
With a fleet that huge, let alone dealing with an Earth that has no modern technology at all, even if they went toe-to-toe with the Starlight Empire, the outcome on both sides would be completely up in the air!
Noticing Ling Feng’s expression, Li Cheng seemed to guess something and asked in a low voice, "What is it? You’re not confident?"
"That’s right."
Ling Feng looked at him. "You don’t understand the scale of interstellar warfare, nor have you seen how big my Ling Yun is. Once you reach the Moon and see my three warships, then look at the enemy’s numbers, you’ll know just how strong they are this time."
After hearing that, Li Cheng seemed to grasp the idea and asked, "You mean the battle will take place in the sky, and the warships you mentioned are the kind that can fly?"
"Mm."
Ling Feng nodded, then said, "This battle is extremely dangerous. General Li, if you don’t go to the front yourself, I can show you the battle footage afterward and explain it then."
"Don’t be ridiculous. I’ve been through over a thousand battles, when have I ever been afraid?"
Li Cheng narrowed his eyes, then said in a deep voice, "Since the fight is so dangerous, His Majesty and the Princess should stay. I’ll accompany you on this trip myself."
"No!"
Li Huang and Li Chunxi spoke at the same time, then both added together, "We’re going too!"
"All right."
Ling Feng nodded. "Once you arrive, you’ll board a Miniature Spaceship first. If I can’t control the situation, you must immediately go to find the Empress of Starlight for help. Chunxi, you can manage that, right?"
When Li Chunxi heard this, she bit her lip. "I can!"
She already knew how to reach Lingyun Island, and once there, she could find more support through Gu Li.
Born of the royal family, her vision and breadth of mind were far beyond ordinary people’s. She knew this wasn’t the time to be worrying over her husband’s safety; the most important thing was defeating the invading enemy!
Ling Feng nodded, reassured, then said, "In that case, everyone come with me."
With that he rose and left, heading straight outside the great hall.
Li Cheng and his son had no idea what Ling Feng intended to do. Seeing the Emperor and Princess going out, they had no choice but to follow immediately.
Then Ling Feng led the group in a Teleportation jump, and in an instant they arrived on the Moon.
In a daze they realized they’d changed locations, entering a space filled with metal plating, and Li Cheng and his son were utterly bewildered.
"Don’t just stand there stunned. Follow Ling Feng’s arrangements!" Li Huang said in a deep voice.
Ling Feng then ordered Ling Yun to dispatch a Miniature Spaceship, intending to have everyone board it and watch the imminent battle from a distance.
At this moment Li Chunxi grabbed Ling Feng’s hand. "Promise me, if it’s really too dangerous, you must remember to run!"
"Relax, it’ll be fine. This is just the perfect chance to test the power of the Chaos Sword," Ling Feng said with a smile.
Chaos had spoken to him before, and he still hadn’t had time to tell Li Chunxi, so her concern was understandable.
But in Ling Feng’s mind, the Chaos Sword was his only chance of victory today. As long as it worked, the enemy’s more than a thousand ships wouldn’t be a problem; he’d definitely take care of them!
After Li Chunxi and the others boarded the Miniature Spaceship and left Ling Yun, they saw the three super-ships docked on the Moon’s surface, and only then did Li Cheng and his son widen their eyes in astonishment.
