The Heiress They Lost Came Back Overpowered

Chapter 102 - 101: Where Did This Brute Strength Come From?

"What’s going through your heads? I told you all the instructor was incredible, but you didn’t believe me." Theodore Zane rolled his eyes.

Unlike the systematic styles they had learned, hers looked like something she had honed herself over time. It had evolved into a personal style, and no one could ever guess her next move.

The squad members below were dumbfounded. No wonder this new instructor was so confident she dared to take the codename ’1’.

After all, on a normal day, Jasper Hayes could fight the commander to a draw.

Even Stanley Sutton, the leader of the Anomalous Abilities Unit, couldn’t guarantee he’d have the upper hand the entire time without using his superpower.

Summer Quinn, captain of the Snow Phoenix Squad, watched Yvonne Lowell on the stage with eyes full of admiration. "Hey, if I ask to become the instructor’s disciple, do you think she’ll take me?"

"Hold on, Crystal. If she’s taking on apprentices, I should be first, alright? I’m the one who met the instructor first. You can wait your turn." Theodore Zane gave her a wary look.

Summer Quinn shot him a look but said nothing. She wasn’t about to argue with a guy in his twenties who still wet the bed.

’Why would I get angry with someone who can’t even control their bodily functions?’

Watching Jasper Hayes on stage, unable to even lay a finger on her, Ryan Ford sucked his teeth. "You punk, you never make things clear. We thought you were just talking about her superpower. Who knew her fighting skills were this incredible too?"

"I swear, I never said it was *only* her superpower. You all twisted my words. My fault?"

After he spoke, Theodore Zane lowered his gaze, concealing the crafty glint that flashed in his eyes.

’If I’d been too clear, I wouldn’t get to see these guys get their asses kicked, would I? I knew someone would hear me, refuse to believe it, and go looking for trouble.’

’If the Anomalous Abilities Unit hadn’t forfeited, I would’ve loved to see my teammates get beaten up, too.’

’We’re all brothers, after all. I can’t be the only one who’s been kicked by the instructor.’

Onstage, Jasper Hayes grew more alarmed the longer the fight went on. He was completely on the defensive, never even getting a chance to retaliate.

In a moment of carelessness, he was sent to the ground by one of Yvonne Lowell’s side kicks.

Yvonne Lowell then locked his arms and pressed her knee into his spine, completely pinning Jasper Hayes to the floor.

"Had enough?"

Jasper Hayes struggled fruitlessly before finally conceding, "I give... Instructor, I give up."

’Damn, for someone with such a small frame, where the hell does she get all that brute strength?!’

’I’m gonna go eat spinach when I get back! I’ll buy a ton of it and eat it every single day!’

Yvonne Lowell let him go and stood up, then offered him a hand.

Jasper Hayes froze for a second before taking her hand and letting her pull him to his feet.

Seeing that her breathing was steady, as if she weren’t tired in the slightest, he asked,

"Instructor, what is that mask of yours made of? It can even absorb sweat? I haven’t seen a single drop from you."

Yvonne Lowell’s lips twitched. "Has it occurred to you that maybe I just haven’t started sweating yet?"

Jasper Hayes sheepishly shut his mouth, worried about another ego-crushing blow.

’For a second there, I really thought her mask could absorb sweat.’

’Otherwise, why was I sweating buckets while the instructor was still perfectly fresh and clean?! How is that fair?!’

After Jasper Hayes left the stage, Yvonne Lowell looked at the crowd below and said, "Anyone else want to come up?"

Below the stage, there was dead silence...

"Have you gone mute? Speak up!"

"No!" everyone shouted in unison.

Yvonne Lowell’s lips curled in satisfaction. "Alright, let’s have a little appetizer today. Everyone, 10 laps with a 15-kilogram weight. I don’t care about your speed or formation. The first to finish get to eat and rest first."

"Just a heads-up, tonight’s meal will be the best you’ll have for the next month. So, start gearing up."

With that, she tilted her chin towards the pile of sandbags and counters in the corner.

"Yes!"

Everyone immediately sprang into action, strapping on the sandbags in an orderly fashion.

Jasper Hayes stood his ground, not moving. ’I just had a fight, so maybe I don’t have to...’

Yvonne Lowell looked at him and raised an eyebrow. "You don’t have to run just yet."

Before he could get excited, Yvonne Lowell added, "A bet’s a bet. You can run after you’re done writing. Here, the paper, pen, desk, and chair are all ready for you."

Jasper Hayes gave her a woeful look. "Instructor, your words are so cold. They’ve pierced my very heart."

"PFFT. Old Man Hawthorne, you drafted the gentleman’s agreement yourself. Honor the bet."

"Yeah, Captain Hayes. Don’t tell me you’re planning to weasel out of it?"

Jasper Hayes glared at them irritably. ’A bunch of ungrateful brats. Who was I even doing all this for?!’

Helpless, he could only trudge over to miserably begin copying "Instructor No. 1 is the most beautiful" 1,000 times.

Once the others were ready, they headed to the running track on their own.

...

Yvonne Lowell leaped off the platform as well. She took the half-mask Finn Knight handed her, turned her back to the others to put it on, and revealed the lower half of her face.

After drinking half a bottle of water, she looked at the people on the track. "Hey, Finn, don’t you think ten laps is a little too few?"

Finn Knight’s brow twitched in exasperation. "Lowell, one lap is a thousand meters."

’Ten kilometers with weights... isn’t that enough? Besides, the training hasn’t even officially started. Is she planning on working them to death?’

Yvonne Lowell sighed with mock regret. "Oh, well. I’ve already said it, and I can’t have everyone thinking Instructor No. 1 is untrustworthy right at the beginning."

Finn Knight thought to himself, ’When have you ever been trustworthy?!’

Looking at the poor souls on the track who were about to be put through the wringer, Finn Knight decided to try and distract Yvonne Lowell for their sake.

"By the way, Lowell, didn’t you say you were coming in the morning? How come you only got here in the afternoon?"

"Oh, I made a last-minute promise to have lunch with my boyfriend."

Finn Knight was speechless.

He inwardly slapped himself. ’I shouldn’t have opened my big mouth. I’d rather they just got put through the wringer.’

’Recalling the social media post he saw last night... tsk, tsk. He’d never seen their Lowell look so shy and bashful.’

’And that President Grant... to be able to tame Lowell, he was a real wolf.’

...

On the track, all the members of Snow Phoenix ran at a steady, orderly pace.

Most of the members from the other squads did the same, except for a few class clowns who were chasing each other and goofing off.

Like Ryan Ford and Theodore Zane.

Ryan Ford: "What delicious food do you think the instructor has prepared for us?"

Theodore Zane: "I think at most we’ll get a couple of extra chicken legs compared to usual."

Ryan Ford: "No way, right? Didn’t she say we’d get a good meal?"

Theodore Zane: "How about a bet then? Between the two of us, whoever finishes these ten laps first has to give all their meat dishes at dinner to the other guy."

Ryan Ford: "Deal!"

Theodore Zane: "Okay, I’ll count to three, and we’ll start together."

Theodore Zane: "Three!"

And with that, he bolted.

By the time Ryan Ford realized what happened, he frantically sped up. "Zane, you bastard!!"

As you can imagine, the two of them were soon gasping for breath, slowing down until they were trailing at the very back of the pack.

At some point, Yvonne Lowell had ridden up behind them on a unicycle.

"Keep going. You two were running so fast a moment ago. Tired already?"
