Chapter 42 - 41: Is Your Bed Big?
Leo Grant wiped his hands clean with a towel and began to peel shrimp.
Before long, he had peeled a large bowlful and pushed it directly in front of Yvonne Lowell. "Eat up."
"Thanks." Yvonne Lowell turned her head and smiled at him.
The two people across from them were stunned speechless.
’One of them couldn’t believe that the man who’d rather not eat shrimp than be bothered to peel them would actually peel them for someone else. Just how many meals had they eaten together to get this good at it? So they’ve been going out to eat behind my back?’
’The other couldn’t believe his sis could smile so sweetly. Every time Leon had seen her smile before, it was a cold sneer, a cocky smirk, or a chilling grin—the kind of smile that meant someone, somewhere, was about to be wiped off the map. Had she changed tactics? A sweet smile now? Was she planning to kill a lucky bystander with cuteness?’
Leo Grant: ’You’re overthinking it. She’s only sweet to me, thanks.’
The two of them exchanged a glance, then could only lower their heads and shovel rice into their mouths. The food felt awfully clingy today. It was so sweet it stuck to their teeth, and disgustingly so.
"When are you planning to go back to Kingsland?" Leo Grant asked.
Yvonne Lowell swallowed the shrimp in her mouth before replying, "Tomorrow, I think."
"Tomorrow?! Sis, what about me then? You’re not going to handle that matter?" Leon grew anxious upon hearing this and quickly interjected.
Yvonne Lowell shot him a sidelong glance. "Handle what? Didn’t you say you’d take care of it? That it was all on you?"
"Can’t you at least give me some advice? I’m panicking here!"
"Tsk, so you can’t survive without me? Panicking? You want me to buy you a portable AED? So you can carry it in your pocket at all times?"
’She knew he was talking about The Crimson Triangle, but Yvonne Lowell really wasn’t worried. It was just The Crimson Triangle, not some major player.’
’And although Leon looked a bit dumb, what kind of pushover could lead an International Mercenary Corps? He’s just bored, desperate for attention. A total daddy’s boy.’
Leon: ’Who’s whose daddy?’
Yvonne Lowell: ’I’m your daddy.’
"Pfft." Nolan Crawford couldn’t help but laugh out loud.
Leon shot him a glare. "Laugh, laugh, laugh! What the hell is so funny?"
"It’s a free country, I can smile if I want. Got a problem? Maybe you should take a good look at yourself. What are you gonna do about me laughing? HAHAHAHAHAHA..."
"You’re so loud! Didn’t you see the ’Please keep your voice down’ sign over there?"
"You could always choose to cover your ears."
"Why can’t it be you who shuts up?!"
...
Watching the childish squabbling across from them, Yvonne Lowell and Leo Grant exchanged a helpless glance.
"Don’t mind him. He’s been like this since he was a kid. Everyone in our circle knows," Leo Grant said, glancing at Nolan Crawford with disdain.
Yvonne Lowell glanced over as well and added, "The one next to him, too. He’s been like that ever since I’ve known him."
Sensing the stares from across the table, the two "elementary schoolers" stopped. They looked up to find four eyes staring at them with undisguised disdain and sheepishly shut their mouths.
"I’m also planning to go back tomorrow. Together?"
’Nolan Crawford froze for a second when he heard that. Weren’t we supposed to head back overnight tonight? Don’t you have company business? Postponing for love, is that it?’
’Other guys say, ’Cancel the meeting, I’m going to pick her up.’ But for you it’s, ’Cancel the meeting, I’m not going back,’ huh?’
"Sure," Yvonne Lowell shrugged nonchalantly.
"Then we’ll have to borrow Director Lowell’s helipad tomorrow."
"Of course, of course."
...
「After dinner, the four went their separate ways. Leon drove Yvonne Lowell home.」
"By the way, sis, what are those two guys’ identities?" Leon asked.
"The heirs to the Grant and Crawford families of Kingsland, Aurelia."
"You know that’s not what I’m asking. Who cares if they’re heirs or not? I’m asking about their *other* identities."
Yvonne Lowell shrugged. "I don’t know either. Why don’t you go ask them yourself?"
"You don’t know?! Damn! I thought you knew. Let me tell you, that Grant guy was ruthless today." As he spoke, Leon took out his phone, found the afternoon’s security footage, and showed it to her.
Yvonne Lowell took the phone, raising an eyebrow at the screen. ’So Mr. Handsome has two faces, huh? It’s good that he’s ruthless. Otherwise, I’d feel like we weren’t a good match.’
Leon was still muttering to himself, "That Nolan Crawford looks a bit goofy, but I can sense a familiar aura from them. They probably have a high-ranking position in the underworld, but I’ve never seen them before."
"Heh, a familiar aura, you say? You think they don’t know who you are?"
"Huh?! But there aren’t many people in the underworld who know me that I haven’t met."
Yvonne Lowell gazed out the window and said casually, "Maybe they’re one of those few, then? To be able to open such a large club in Country A without interference or obstruction from the nobility... could they be ordinary people?"
Leon swallowed hard. GULP. ’His sis was a badass! Her social circle was truly vast. She comes back to the country to find her family and ends up meeting such big shots.’
"So you’re really not going to get involved with The Crimson Triangle?"
"Handle it yourself. Just make it clean, quick, and efficient. They’re an eyesore."
"Alright, then. Are you planning to stay in Aurelia for good?"
"Not necessarily. After all, the world still needs me to save it."
Leon couldn’t help the twitch of his lips. "Then why are you in such a hurry to go back?"
"I promised to join my second brother on a variety show. If I’m late, he’ll throw a fit."
Leon choked on her words. ’When did this matriarch become so good at keeping her promises?’
’Still, this was a good thing. It seemed she’d become a lot more human after returning home. After all, the last time he saw her, six months ago, she was still her vicious self, bashing someone’s head in without a second word.’
...
「Returning to Yvonne Lowell’s villa, a dramatic scene unfolded.」
She and Leo Grant were neighbors yet again!! Only this time, instead of living across from each other, they were next door...
As they got out of their respective cars, they looked at each other and couldn’t help but smile.
Leo Grant walked up to her. "What a coincidence, neighbor."
"It must be fate. We really are a match made in heaven," Yvonne Lowell said, hooking a finger around the Buddha Beads on his wrist.
Nolan Crawford and Leon: ’Yup, yup, yup, sure, sure, sure. There you two go again, all lovey-dovey.’
Leo Grant glanced at Leon, who was still in the car, his tone turning unfriendly. "Does he live here too?"
"Nope. This is my house. He’ll be leaving in a bit," Yvonne Lowell shrugged.
As soon as she said it, Leo Grant’s expression visibly brightened.
Yvonne Lowell leaned on the car window. "Go on, head back. You don’t have to give me a ride tomorrow."
’She had originally planned to have Leon send someone to take her to the airport tomorrow, but it seemed that wouldn’t be necessary now.’
"Alright, I’m heading out. I’ll let you know when I have results." Leon, who hadn’t heard her previous comment, casually started the car and drove away.
As Yvonne Lowell was about to go inside, she handed the jacket she was wearing back to Leo Grant. "See you tomorrow, Mr. Handsome."
"Aren’t you scared living alone?" Leo Grant asked, grabbing the corner of her shirt.
’Hearing this, a certain song’s BGM inexplicably started playing in Yvonne Lowell’s mind: *Is your bed big? Are you scared to sleep alone?*’
She shook her head forcefully, trying to fling the strange thought away. ’What the hell was that?!’
