Chapter 59 - 58: Replying to Comments
Yvonne Lowell called for Nanny Warren to serve the food. The siblings invited the two cameramen to sit and eat with them.
The production crew was supposed to provide them with boxed lunches, and the cameramen had planned to wait for their food delivery. But they couldn’t resist their hosts’ enthusiastic invitation, could they? It really wasn’t because they were greedy.
The two men set their cameras aside and sat down gingerly. At first, they were a bit nervous, but they completely relaxed later. This food was seriously amazing!
[Oh my god, this spread looks way too good!!]
[Wait, what kind of respectable person eats abalone for lunch?? And that dish next to it... is that Buddha Jumps Over the Wall?!!]
[This is making me so hungry. Why isn’t my food delivery here yet, ahhh?!!]
[Good thing I was smart and ordered ahead.]
[Thanks for asking. I was crying while eating, and my mom slapped me and told me if I didn’t like her food, I could get lost and go eat at someone else’s house. There’s a deal that good???]
[Even the cameramen are eating so heartily...]
[I’m eating too now. Time for some digital side dishes to go with my meal~]
After the meal, the production crew compiled the three most popular questions and sent them to Yvonne Lowell.
"First question: So, at what age did Yvonne Lowell start university? What was her major? What degree did she graduate with? When did she become a lifetime honorary professor? And why?" Yvonne Lowell read the question from the notes on her phone.
She looked up at the camera and chuckled. "I only asked the production crew to pick the three most popular comments for me to answer, so you guys deliberately liked the ones with the most questions?"
[Of course not! It’s just that we’re curious about every single thing they asked~]
[Exactly, exactly! We’re not those kinds of people!]
[We~ are~ not~ those~ kinds~ of~ peo~ple~]
[You’re all so fake! Pretentious! Hypocrites! I admit it, I’m exactly the kind of person you’re talking about. So what are you gonna do about it? Yvonne Lowell, I’m laying it all out here. If you don’t like what I’m saying, come and give me a kiss!]
[It’s not even dark yet. Wake up and stop dreaming.]
"I started as a freshman at Loster at age 13, majoring in economics. I graduated at 16 with a Ph.D. and became a lifetime honorary professor at Loster in the same year."
After a moment of thought, Yvonne Lowell continued, "As for why? Maybe it’s because I’m just that exceptional?"
[Damn! I want to punch her so bad!!]
[They really are siblings. Both so smug!!]
[Finished her bachelor’s, master’s, and doctorate in three years?? A Ph.D. graduate at 16?? That’s Loster we’re talking about, not kindergarten!!!]
[That’s terrifying. How did she do that?? Is she a monster?? People who started in the same year as her are probably still working on their master’s, right??]
[Three years, hehe. It’s taking me nine years, hehe. And even with nine years, I’m not even sure I’ll graduate on time, hehe.]
[Oh, please, shut up. I’m a clinical medicine major. Have I said anything?!]
[Is this a humblebrag? But for some reason, I’m not even mad. Probably because I could never achieve what she has in my entire life [sunglasses emoji]]
[Take off the sunglasses before you talk!]
[Fine, I’ll take them off! [crying emoji] [crying emoji] [crying emoji]]
Watching the bullet comments scroll by at lightning speed, Yvonne Lowell found it a bit amusing. "I’m just kidding. The truth is, I felt the material the professors were teaching was too easy, so I just took the graduation exams directly. After that, I wrote a few papers, and things got out of hand. Before I knew it, I had graduated with my doctorate."
"As for the lifetime honorary professor title, that’s because I didn’t like attending classes—don’t be like me, everyone!! Since I didn’t like classes, I would often go to the offices of professors from other departments to discuss problems with them. After I helped them solve a few difficult issues, the university president wanted me to stay on as a teacher and gave me that title."
"Though I only taught for one semester before I bailed," Yvonne Lowell said with a shrug.
[Uh, you’re not my little sister, you’re my big sis!! Sis!! You would have been better off not explaining!!!]
[After listening to you, I feel even more useless.]
[What would be so wrong with having one more genius in the world?!]
[I still prefer the original answer. The single word ’exceptional’ summed it up perfectly. Why did you have to say so much... I’m getting triggered! Sis, you’re truly exceptional! What right do I have to call you ’little sister’?!]
[Too easy → Graduation exams → Wrote papers → Ph.D. graduate; Didn’t like class → Discussed problems with other departments → Solved other departments’ problems → Lifetime Honorary Professor. You’re a monster!??]
"Alright, second question: Regarding your third brother’s application for a Ph.D. at Loster, was that at your instruction? Are you planning to pull strings for him?"
Yvonne Lowell let out a scoff, but there was no trace of mirth in her eyes. "Loster may share my family name, Lowell, but we don’t own the place, everyone."
"I don’t need to educate you all on how rigorous Loster’s admission evaluations are, do I? Everything comes down to merit. If you don’t have the skills, it doesn’t matter if you’re the university president’s own son. Even the Crown Prince wouldn’t get in."
"My third brother is in the mathematics department of Aurelia Tech’s program for gifted youth. The reason he studies math is all due to the influence of Professor Spencer, who made him fall in love with the subject."
"I admit I encouraged him to apply to Loster because he already had the idea himself. He wants to meet Spencer and become his student. But he was hesitating, so he needed someone to give him a push."
"If you think that counts as ’instructing’ him, then so be it. I have nothing more to say. But I’d like to ask the person who posted this question: how can you possibly question whether someone who ranked first in his entire department at Aurelia Tech for five consecutive years and had already published four SCI papers by age 19 would need to pull strings? As for whether his achievements are real, feel free to look them up online."
"Besides, right now, he’s only sent an inquiry email. Did I fly to Continent M overnight, hold Spencer’s head down, and force him to reply? He hasn’t even written his application yet. When the time comes, am I supposed to hold a knife to the admissions committee to force them to approve his application?"
[So cool!! That’s how you do it! Destroy those shameless bastards!!!]
[Age 14, program for gifted youth, Aurelia Tech, first in the department; Age 19, 4 SCI papers...]
[What kind of monsters are in this family!!!?]
[Well, not all of them. Look at our boy Lowell, he’s pretty average, hahaha.]
[Lowell went to Veridian University. That’s not bad at all, okay?!]
[No, but seriously, just imagine the scene: his little sister flies to Continent M, holds an old man’s head down, and forces him to type out an email reply. Isn’t that hilarious?!]
[President Lowell went to Kingsland University. Mrs. Lowell, Lowell, and the Second Young Master all went to Veridian University. And the other members of the Lowell family all graduated from top-tier universities, too. Uh, now that I’ve said that, I hope no one’s going to claim they pulled strings to get into Veridian, right??]
[Okay, okay, I’m not jealous anymore. It’s genetic, I get it, I get it~]
[Dude, calm down! It’s not okay to have troll-induced PTSD.]
[What did I ever do to deserve a room full of geniuses providing me with live entertainment for my meal...]
Seeing the last question, Yvonne Lowell raised an eyebrow. "Final question: On Loster’s official website, the 19-year-old lifetime honorary professor has no photo. Is it really you, or are you impersonating someone with the same name?"
