Chapter 75 - 74: Wound on Your Body, Pain in My Heart

Yvonne Lowell rolled her eyes at him and stuffed the braised pork rib she had just picked up directly into his mouth.

"Just eat already. Can’t even food shut you up?"

Leo Grant froze for a moment. ’I wasn’t even talking, was I? Am I not allowed to look, either?’

He swallowed the meat and looked at her teasingly. "Delicious. It’s sweet."

Yvonne Lowell: ... ’Mom, save me! There’s a shameless flirt here!’

...

Glancing at her phone as the screen lit up, she shouted toward the living room, "Silas Lynch!"

"Miss Lowell, you called for me?" Silas Lynch hurried into the dining room.

"Yeah, go bring in the woman standing at the door," Yvonne Lowell said while replying to a message.

"Yes, Miss Lowell."

Leo Grant raised an eyebrow but didn’t say anything.

Silas Lynch showed Nina Jennings into the dining room. Nina Jennings blew him a kiss. "Thanks, handsome~"

Her teasing made Silas Lynch’s neck flush red, and he quickly turned and left.

Nina Jennings rushed forward, grabbed Yvonne Lowell’s uninjured arm, and began to wail dramatically.

"Oh, my dear Yvonne! How could you be so badly hurt? My heart is absolutely breaking! WAAAH, BOO HOO HOO..."

As she spoke, she didn’t forget to wipe the nonexistent tears from the corners of her eyes, her shoulders still trembling uncontrollably.

If Yvonne Lowell weren’t so familiar with her usual theatrics, she might have actually believed she was heartbroken.

Yvonne Lowell put down her chopsticks and simply watched her, calm and unruffled.

Nina Jennings snuck a glance at her. Seeing no reaction, she ramped up the drama.

"BOO HOO HOO... Your body is hurt, but my heart is the one in pain! Those damn bastards! How dare they hurt you! How could they! BOO HOO HOO..."

"What are we going to do if it leaves a scar? Oh, good heavens..."

Yvonne Lowell suddenly interjected, "Stop acting. If you want to laugh, just laugh."

"PFFT!" Nina Jennings finally couldn’t hold it in anymore. She burst out laughing, grinning from ear to ear and doubling over.

"I really am heartbroken for you, but this time your opponents were honestly a bit lame, HAHAHAHA..."

In the living room, Silas Lynch and Warren Lynch could both hear her bizarre, infectious laughter.

The two kept exchanging glances:

’This is Miss Lowell’s friend? Doesn’t seem like it...’

’Miss Jennings... she really doesn’t look too bright...’

Yvonne Lowell ignored her and continued to focus on her food.

’I’m hungry. Nothing can stand in the way of me and my food.’

’Laugh all you want. It’s the perfect background music for my meal.’

Seeing Yvonne Lowell’s reaction, Leo Grant also ignored Nina Jennings and simply picked up some more food for her.

...

Once Nina Jennings had her fill of laughing, she cleared her throat and asked,

"I feel like Finn went too easy on them, letting them die so quickly. What’s this nonsense about wiping them out in one go? He should’ve brought them back so we could play with them. I’d have shown them what it means to suffer!"

The hand Leo Grant was using to hold his chopsticks froze. He snapped his head up to look at Yvonne Lowell, astonished.

’Just this morning, they were saying that group had been wiped out by an unknown party. And it turns out the unknown party is sitting right in front of me?!’

’And here I was, thinking she had simply gone to rescue someone.’

’Even my men couldn’t find out who those people were. Not bad at all, Little Marshmallow.’

Sensing his stare, Yvonne Lowell showed no reaction, simply wiping her mouth calmly.

She turned to Nina Jennings. "Are you done? Tired yet? Want to join us? There are plenty of leftovers."

"No thanks, I ate on the plane." Nina Jennings waved her hand dismissively, then suddenly turned to Leo Grant. "Oh, by the way, President Grant... mind if I ask you something?"

Leo Grant raised an eyebrow. "Let’s hear it."

"It’s about that handsome guy who brought me in just now. What’s his name? How old is he? Does he have a girlfriend?" Nina Jennings fired off a rapid-fire triplet of questions.

Leo Grant glanced at Yvonne Lowell, a teasing glint in his eyes.

’Is this another living, breathing example of ’birds of a feather flock together’?’

Yvonne Lowell shot him a glare. "What are you looking at me for? I’m not the one asking."

"Silas Lynch. He’s twenty-five, no girlfriend."

Nina Jennings’s eyes lit up. "So, does your company have any rules about employee relationships? No prohibitions on office romance, right?"

The corners of Leo Grant’s mouth curved up slightly. "My subordinates’ personal lives are their own business. I don’t interfere."

"Well, isn’t that just perfect!" Nina Jennings slapped her thigh emphatically.

Yvonne Lowell shot her a look of mild disgust. "Don’t go and corrupt the poor guy. Silas Lynch is practically a kid."

"Hey, how is it corrupting him? Can’t a girl fall in love at first sight?" Nina Jennings tossed her newly dyed black-and-purple hair.

"Tch. ’Love at first sight’ is just lust at first sight. And besides, how many ’loves at first sight’ does this make for you?" Yvonne Lowell retorted, pouting.

"Hey now, this one’s different! I guarantee this is the real deal! Besides, you know me. I’m a butterfly who flits through a garden of flowers but never gets caught."

"What’s in it for him? A girlfriend whose hair color changes every two weeks? Or a girlfriend who’ll be completely bald in a few years?"

"Yvonne Lowell, that’s not a very cute thing to say! My hair is in great condition! Even when I’m eighty, I’ll still be a beautiful old lady with a fabulous, ever-changing hair color," Nina Jennings retorted, rolling her eyes at her.

"Besides, if I get together with him, it’ll make our two families even closer, right?"

A shrewd glint flashed in Leo Grant’s eyes. ’What she’s saying... actually makes some sense...’

’Maybe I should help play matchmaker?’

"I’m done talking to you two. I’m going to go nurture my relationship with my dear Sid."

With that, she strode toward the living room.

...

Leo Grant recalled their first meeting at Comet, how a certain little vixen had called him "gorgeous" right off the bat and even gotten handsy.

He smiled enigmatically.

"I’m suddenly thinking you two are quite alike."

Yvonne Lowell’s eyes narrowed.

"What’s that supposed to mean? Are you saying I’m a pervert just like her, and that I only went for you because of your looks?"

Leo Grant didn’t say a word, but his expression clearly meant yes.

"Tch. So what if I did go for you because of your looks? You enjoyed it too, didn’t you? Acting all stoic on the outside, but you were secretly thrilled, weren’t you?"

Yvonne Lowell rolled her eyes at him, then got up and walked out.

Leo Grant froze for a second, then a delighted glimmer sparked in his eyes.

He quickly followed after her and took her hand.

"You’re wrong. I wasn’t just secretly thrilled. I was obviously thrilled, too."

...

Meanwhile, Nina Jennings had found Silas Lynch.

"Hello there, Sid."

Taken aback by her greeting, Silas Lynch’s expression was a bit strained. "Miss Jennings, can I help you with something?"

Silas Lynch had strong, masculine features—sharp brows, bright eyes, and a chiseled face. With a physique that looked good in anything, like a walking mannequin, he was undeniably a top-tier heartthrob.

In addition, since he followed Leo Grant around practically twenty-four-seven, he even had a similar aura.

Everyone in the business world knew that The Grants’ Special Assistant was a notoriously wily fox.

"Your President Grant said you don’t have a girlfriend, so how about you consider me? I’m twenty-one, no parents, no exes, and I come with a car, a house, and my own savings."
