Chapter 53 - 52: Live Broadcast Preview
Yvonne Lowell froze for a second, then whipped her head around to look at him. "It’s started? When?"
"Uh... Miss, actually, the live stream started the moment we walked in. I’ve been carrying a hidden camera..." Keith Zane took the hidden camera from his chest and handed it to Yvonne Lowell.
Yvonne Lowell took the camera, turning it over to inspect it.
’Holy crap, a *truly* hidden camera, huh? The red light doesn’t even blink. It was just hanging there like a brooch. I had no idea that thing was a camera!’
[SISTER, SISTER, SISTER, STOP SHAKING IT, STOP SHAKING IT!! I’M GETTING DIZZY!!]
[HELP!! I’M GONNA PUKE!!]
[Holy crap, it’s a browser-based roller coaster.]
"So... I was just a part of your little ’play’?"
"Ahem, how could that be? This was all the production team’s idea. They insisted on capturing the most authentic footage... I didn’t mean to hide it from you. Besides, you already yelled at me in front of all these people." Harrison Lowell poked her with his finger.
Yvonne Lowell shot him a stealthy glare. "And you’re just now realizing I yelled at you in front of all these people!?"
"It’s fine! My little sister is adorable no matter what!" Harrison Lowell raised both hands and clutched his chest dramatically.
Yvonne Lowell rolled her eyes at him, then leaned in close to the camera and let out a soft chuckle. "This is a really nice camera. The show’s arrangements are great, too. As expected of a production from The Grants."
Hearing this, Silas Lynch’s hand, which was holding a tablet, trembled, and he nearly dropped it.
’Deep breath. It’s fine, it’s fine. I’m just the guy in charge of screen recording. What do I know? I don’t know anything!’
Leo Grant, who was in the middle of a morning meeting, suddenly felt a chill run down his spine. He felt a strange sense of panic. ’Did someone turn the AC down too low?’
"Hi, hello everyone~" Yvonne Lowell waved at the camera.
[AHHHH I’M DEAD!!!]
[A CRITICAL HIT OF BEAUTY!! SAVE ME!!!]
[Oh my god, her face is completely flawless!!]
[Am I the only one who thought the first half of what she said sounded weird? I sensed some killing intent...]
[ME TOO!! I totally feel like she was gritting her teeth when she was praising the camera, hahaha.]
[IT’S OKAY, SISTER, YOU’RE ADORABLE NO MATTER WHAT!!! [finger heart]]
[RIGHT, RIGHT, my wife is the cutest!!]
[SCREW YOU! THAT’S MY WIFE!!]
Silas Lynch wiped away the non-existent nervous sweat from his forehead, miserably logging the negative comments and the IDs of everyone calling her ’wife’.
’Go ahead, keep shouting. Every time one of you does, you’ll get silenced. One shout, one ban. Don’t come crying to our support team when your accounts get bricked.’
The director and a few staff members, who had been watching the live stream from their van, were a bit reserved when they received the message. They walked in stiffly, carrying their equipment.
Harrison Lowell waved them over. "Hurry up. If you haven’t eaten, come grab a bite."
Seeing that they couldn’t refuse, they graciously sat down.
When they were on a shoot, their schedule was usually so tight that they’d just make do with some bread or crackers in the van. They couldn’t remember the last time they’d had a hot breakfast on a workday.
"Superstar Lowell, Miss Lowell, if it’s convenient for you both, could you take the camera and walk around a bit? We need to film some other areas of the house that we might need for the final edit," the follow-cam director asked.
"Sure, we can go by ourselves. You guys take your time and eat." Harrison Lowell picked up the camera and led Yvonne Lowell upstairs by the hand.
He didn’t forget to preen for the camera. "Once filming officially starts, the production team’s cameras will only be on the first floor. So, I’ll reluctantly do you all the favor of showing you the other areas. No need to thank me. I’m just that handsome and kind-hearted."
[HELP... CAN SOMEONE PUNCH HIM??]
[SISTER! DO IT! QUICK! KILL YOUR BROTHER!]
[Now you see why I became his fan, right? Because he’s such a lovable idiot, hahahaha...]
Standing at the top of the second-floor stairs, Harrison Lowell gestured down the hallway.
"The second floor has our parents’ room and the rooms for a few other elders. The rest are studies—everyone in the family has their own."
"I won’t take you to the studies, because I don’t even like going there myself."
They headed up to the third floor.
"The third floor is just where all us siblings have our rooms. Nothing much to see."
Yvonne Lowell couldn’t help the twitch at the corner of her mouth. ’Who in their right mind gives a tour like this??’
She decided to just open the live stream and shove the bullet comments in his face. "Brother, the viewers say they want to see your room."
Harrison Lowell glanced at the bullet comments. "Hmph. You just want to see if my room is a pigsty, don’t you? Dream on. My room is neat and tidy. Still, since you’re so eager to see it, I’ll reluctantly grant you a look."
The camera entered Harrison Lowell’s room.
Harrison Lowell smugly lifted his chin. "See? How tidy is my room?! It’s simple—just a bed, a desk, a display cabinet, plus a walk-in closet and a bathroom. That’s it. Hmph. The anti-fans must be so disappointed, right?"
[FIGURINES! LOOK AT THOSE GORGEOUS FIGURINES!! [drooling]]
[Give me a figurine, don’t make me get on my knees and beg!]
Yvonne Lowell muttered under her breath off to the side, "Only because the maids clean it every day."
"What are you mumbling about? Come on, let’s go upstairs." Harrison Lowell slung an arm over her shoulder and led her up.
"The fourth floor also has rooms, plus a private home theater, a gaming room, and a music room."
"Let me show you the gaming room. It’s my source of joy when I’m home."
The door opened, revealing the setup inside.
The decor was modern and futuristic. There were five complete pro-gaming setups, and on a nearby coffee table sat several game consoles.
"I’m not just bragging, but if I hadn’t gotten into showbiz, I’d definitely be a legendary pro gamer by now."
[HOLY SHIT!! THIS IS A GAMER’S PARADISE!!]
[I’M SO JEALOUS I’M UNRECOGNIZABLE!!!]
[DUDE, STOP SHOWING OFF!! YOU’RE GONNA GET FLAMED AGAIN...]
[THAT ROOM IS AS BIG AS A LIVING ROOM, I’M DYING...]
[LET’S SEE THE MUSIC ROOM!!]
"The music room is nothing special, just a few instruments. Our third brother has played the violin since he was a kid, so we set up a music room for him. Then there’s my sister’s piano and Zion’s guqin."
"Zion? Who’s that? He’s Luna, the one who plays the guqin. My younger brother."
"Alright, that’s about it. Let’s head downstairs, head downstairs."
Harrison Lowell held up the camera, dragging Yvonne Lowell downstairs.
Yvonne Lowell thought, ’I never should have come on this tour with you...’
After they came downstairs, the director walked over. "You two, the cameras on the first floor are all set up. The official live stream will begin tomorrow at 8 AM sharp. Mr. Lawrence and Mr. Grant will be your dedicated camera operators."
"Got it. We’re all old acquaintances here. You can count on me." Harrison Lowell clapped the director’s shoulder like they were old pals.
The director thought, ’You’re the exact reason I’m worried...’
"Alright then, that’s all for today’s live stream preview. Just say goodbye to the audience, and we’ll end it here."
Amid the audience’s reluctant pleas for them to stay, the siblings said their goodbyes, and the live stream ended.
The moment it ended, Yvonne Lowell’s phone rang...
