The Hero is An Academy Librarian

Chapter 107: Those Are Artefacts?

Percy couldn’t wrap his head around what the hell he was hearing! Artefacts? Since when did Verati ever use any artefacts? For as long as Percy knew, he had never needed to use an artefact to improve his magic or cast spells, so hearing about this strange situation was shocking to him!

If Percy remembered correctly, he had actually worn a particular set of clothes for most of his journey. The staff was a Hollywood branch that he had gotten after visiting a world filled with nature-loving dryads. The dryads had given Percy the staff as a reward for saving them from an Elder Rank Beast, and since Percy was always walking so much and he needed something to rest his weight on, that staff had been perfect for it! The gloves were objects that Percy used because he was always working on potions! Percy had crafted them from the skin of a Sovereign Beast known as the Astral Moonlight Wolf, and he always wore them around with him.

As for the cloak, it was just something Percy thought was cool! Percy had always had a love of cloaks, and when he first arrived in this world and began using magic, the first thing he did was to get a cool-looking black cloak that would make him stand out more! Percy had crafted the cloak from the thread of an Adamantium Spider that tried to feed him to its children during their fight. Since the spider was an Eldritch-level beast, there was nothing in this world that could break through its silk, which was why it was so strong!

Percy had outgrown all of the artefacts after a while, and he decided to leave them behind with the King of Andura before he went on his journey. But Percy never intended for those things to be seen as Artefacts! Percy thought that the King would just throw them away or something!

Rosa spoke up when she saw Percy’s expression.

"You really don’t know about those artefacts, do you? They are the most important items in the entire kingdom. The cloak and gloves are kept in the Verati Museum and guarded by Seventh Realm mages at all times, and most people believe that the staff is in the royal palace, but it’s actually here in Verati Academy. According to grandfather, Verati released so much magic during his battles that the staff absorbed millions of years’ worth of mana inside its diamond tip. The magic is being released slowly, and just holding that staff can boost your magic up by an entire realm."

Percy actually huffed in amusement when he heard that! What the hell? An artefact like that would go for billions of gold coins in today’s market, and if you added in the fact that it had once belonged to Verati, then it would be even more expensive! Percy couldn’t believe the headmaster agreed to keep something worth tens of billions under the academy like this!

Percy shook his head before he spoke.

"Thank you for telling me about this, Rosa. It’s nice to know the artefacts are helping the students."

Rosa smiled awkwardly. Percy’s reaction was a little too lukewarm for her liking! Anyone else who heard about Verati’s artefacts for the first time always showed an intense reaction – like they had just learned that the wish-granting Holy Grail was real! But Percy didn’t even look like he cared! Percy spoke about the artefacts like they were just some objects that helped students to gain more power once a year.

Rosa eventually shook her head, and she decided not to let Percy’s strange reaction bother her! Rosa still had a lot of classes to prepare for later, so she finally said her goodbyes to Percy, and she told him to help her say hello to Hildegard later. Percy smiled and nodded, and Rosa finally left the library!

Once she was gone, Percy just smiled in amusement as he thought about their conversation once again. There were a lot of things in this kingdom that Percy did not know about, but finding out that his former outfit was being used as an artefact to help the students actually made him feel happy.

’I guess I’ll go see it later.’

Percy only thought this before he returned to the journal he had been reading.

....

[Nightfall]

[After School Ends]

The sun had fallen in the western sky, and the sky was now lit up with millions of bright stars that painted the horizon! Most of the students had already returned to their dorms, and the only students who could be seen moving around the school grounds were those who had been given detention or those who were sneaking around to meet their boyfriends or girlfriends.

In the Verati library, Percy was moving around the floors calmly while looking through some books on the shelf. Percy had been busy all day taking care of students, but things had been a lot more peaceful now that the students thought Hildegard was no longer in the academy. Percy could no longer see the aura of despair surrounding the students, and many of them were now speaking about their academics and classes again rather than the Hellfire incident!

It was a little sad that the students were so glad Hildegard was gone, but Percy knew that this was still fine. It was better for the students to forget about Hildegard while they carried out the investigation so they don’t get distracted! After the investigation, they could deal with reintroducing Hildegard to the school again.

Percy walked up to multiple shelves and he took out some books that had been placed in the wrong sections before taking them over to the right places. It was while Percy was in the middle of doing this that Percy felt a magical signature reaching out to him from outside the library. Percy hummed while standing up straight, and he immediately recognized the magic signature as someone he knew.

"You can let them in."

Percy spoke to the library calmly, and the library finally let down the magical protections around it to allow the visitor to enter! A white Dimensional Door opened in front of Percy, and Percy watched as a woman stepped out from the gateway. The woman was dressed like a typical ninja. She had on a tight black uniform that clung to her body and showed off her moderate hips and small chest. There was a mask on her lower face that only left her eyes exposed, and there were multiple weapons all around her body! On her back was a long katana that had intricate markings along its hilt; on her waist was a utility belt with multiple bags filled with kunai, shurikens, and other ninja weapons.

Her hands were covered in gloves fitted with stage magic contraptions that looked like guns, and her extremely long black hair was tied into a ponytail that came down to her lower back with a knife attached to the end of the ponytail!

This woman was named Alpha, and she was the leader of a group of ninja spies called the Shadow Phantoms!
