Chapter 61: Don’t Tell That Crazy Woman

"Yeah, I plan to stay in Aquinas City for now. I just got a job down at the old library, and it’s been pretty nice."

Sylvester’s brow furrowed, and he wondered why the greatest mage in their world was working in a library! But Sylvester knew better than to question the actions of Lord Verati, and he simply convinced himself that there had to be some greater plot behind Percival’s actions.

"I can’t wait to tell the other Pillars about this, my lord! They’ll be over the moon about your return! We’ve all been waiting eagerly to see you again!"

Sylvester grinned happily while saying this, but Sylvester’s excitement was immediately brought down as Percy raised his hand with a strained smile.

"How about we just keep this to ourselves for now? I don’t really want them knowing I’m back all at once."

Sylvester was obviously stunned when he heard that, and he wanted to ask why Lord Percy didn’t want the other Pillars to know! But then Sylvester thought about it for a moment and realized that Lord Percy’s concerns were very true! If the Pillars all learned about Lord Percy’s presence here, then they would all want to come and visit at the same time, and that would definitely ruin the private life that Lord Percy had built for himself!

"But can I at least tell Diana, my lord? She’s been the most eager for your return."

Percy waved his hand.

"No, definitely not Diana; that woman is crazy. If you tell her where I am, she’ll abandon her job as the Priestess and start stalking me again. Just keep it to yourself for now."

Sylvester grimaced slightly when he heard about that stalking incident! That had been one of the craziest moments during their trip! Everyone knew Diane saw Lord Percy as a god, but her devotion got so intense that she followed Lord Percy around until it started becoming a serious problem! The worst incident happened when Diana followed Percy to the bathroom! Percy had been absolutely pissed, and at that point, all the other Pillars had to intervene in order to make her stop!

If anyone saw Diana, they would never think she was the sort of person to stalk anyone, but Diana’s holy training gave her the ability to possess a very strong devotion. And after Diana decided that Lord Percy was the person she wanted to follow forever, all of her devotion was immediately transferred towards him! Diana would do anything for Percy, and if Percy asked her to do something, then she didn’t care if she hurt herself or others just to accomplish it! That attitude made her one of the most dangerous Pillars on the battlefield, but it made it very difficult to handle her on a daily basis!

Sylvester nodded and said he wouldn’t tell Diana anything, and then Percy spoke.

"I see you’ve been keeping an eye on the princess. Did the King ask you to do that?"

Sylvester nodded, and he said that the King was worried that the princess would run into trouble in the city. Percy chuckled in amusement since he already expected something like that from the King. Sylvester also told Percy about the Time Displacement Paradox he had seen outside the city, and Percy nodded before Percy asked:

"Did you notice the Time Displacement Paradox inside the hotel?"

Sylvester’s eyes widened in shock when he heard this, and he turned to look at the hotel and tried to sense what Percy was talking about, but Sylvester wasn’t able to notice anything, and Percy spoke up again.

"It’s the same vampires from outside the city. They’re probably hiding to sneak up on the princess to use her as some sort of bargaining chip."

Sylvester was still not able to sense anything. Since the vampires were so far away and they were also using illusion magic, Sylvester didn’t have the sensing capabilities to detect them like Percy! Percy pointed to the window leading to Vivian’s room and told Sylvester to keep an eye out for what would happen later.

"I planned to deal with it myself, but I have to go back to see Rita, so I’ll leave it to you. Keep an eye on her, and if the guards can’t stop the vampires, then you need to make sure nothing happens to her. I’ll be counting on you, alright?"

Sylvester’s eyes hardened once he heard those last words, and he turned to Percy and swore to stop them no matter what! Percy just chuckled calmly when he saw Sylvester’s enthusiasm, and he patted Sylvester on the back. Percy knew that Sylvester was more than strong enough to stop the Vampires, so he didn’t need to worry. Percy turned to leave while talking.

"Come around to the library some time later. I’ll give you a few books to read on your trips."

That was all Percy said before he vanished from the rooftop, and that was how Sylvester learned that the vampires had been planning something tonight! If not for Percy being there, then Sylvester might’ve left this hotel thinking that the Princess was safe with all the guards around her!

Now, Sylvester was running through the city and heading for the outskirts where the vampire army had camped! Sylvester was sure that the vampire that escaped would return to his camp to warn the other vampires about what was going on, and Sylvester swore to catch him before he could escape!

’I won’t fail Lord Percy, no matter what!’

....

[Verati Academy Library]

[A Few Minutes Earlier]

Although Lyra had planned to abduct the princess to use her as a bargaining chip, Lyra still believed that there was a high chance they could get the second half of the medallion from the library without needing to use the princess. When Lyra came to the library with Galen and Tiran earlier, she made the two of them scan the library floors while she spoke to Percy to see if they could pick out the magic signature of the medallion. And before they had been kicked out, Galen had actually felt the medallion’s energy through the elevator that Rita came out of, so they were sure that the medallion was in here! If they took that elevator down, Lyra was sure that they could find the medallion!

And that was why Lyra had prepared two separate plans at the same time! The backup plan was to kidnap the princess and hold her as a hostage to make an exchange for the medallion, but they would only need to use the princess if the original plan didn’t work! The original plan was for a small group of three vampires to head into the library at night and make their way down to the basement to try and find the medallion.

The cold night wind blew across the roof of the library, and the silver moonlight illuminated the three vampires standing on the rooftop and looking down through the glass sunroof. Lyra, Galen, and a third male vampire looked through the roof and into the library with narrowed eyes, and Lyra motioned for the male vampire to come forward! The man crouched beside Lyra, and he put his hand on the glass panel and activated a skill.

[Surface Radiation]

The man’s palm grew exceptionally hot as the fire spell raised his temperature, and it allowed him to melt a certain portion of the glass sunroof to make a hole that was just large enough for a bird to fly through! The man pulled back his hand, and the three vampires all activated their innate transformation and turned into the black bats that flapped their wings erratically as they easily passed through the small hole and made their way into the library!
