Chapter 155: Keeping His Word
The Forest Ruins had only been accessible for a short time...
Yet it had already developed a reputation.
Hard.
Unforgiving.
And most importantly...
Still uncleared.
A group of five players sat nearby.
One of them noticed Shen Tian’s party.
He blinked.
Then counted.
"Three?"
His teammate looked over.
"...They’re going in with three?"
Another laughed.
"Maybe they’re scouting."
"No."
The first player pointed.
"They selected Hard Mode."
The laughter stopped.
"...Seriously?"
The dungeon interface hovered before Shen Tian.

MoonPetal stared at the warning.
Then slowly looked toward the two men beside her.
Jiang Feng had already drawn his sword.
Shen Tian had an arrow loosely resting against his bowstring.
Neither looked particularly concerned.
MoonPetal sighed.
"Just so we’re clear..."
Both looked at her.
"If we die..."
She pointed toward them.
"I’m blaming both of you."
Jiang Feng smiled.
"Fair."
Shen Tian nodded.
"Acceptable."
MoonPetal narrowed her eyes.
"Neither of you sounds worried enough."
Shen Tian selected...
ENTER.
The world changed.
Forest Ruins — Hard
The three appeared inside an enormous underground chamber.
Ancient pillars stretched toward a ceiling hidden by darkness.
Moss covered cracked stone.
Roots had broken through sections of the walls.
Blue crystals provided faint illumination.
Far ahead...
Something growled.
MoonPetal tightened her grip around her staff.
Jiang Feng’s eyes immediately began scanning.
"Three paths."
Shen Tian looked around.
"Left is trapped."
MoonPetal blinked.
"How do you know?"
Shen Tian pointed.
"Floor."
Several stones were slightly raised.
Jiang Feng noticed.
"Pressure plates."
MoonPetal stared.
"...I didn’t see those."
Jiang Feng smiled.
"Neither did I at first."
MoonPetal looked toward Shen Tian.
"You saw them immediately?"
"Pretty much."
She became silent.
Jiang Feng walked toward the center path.
"Center has footprints."
Shen Tian nodded.
"Probably intended route."
MoonPetal pointed right.
"And right?"
Shen Tian examined it.
"No footprints."
Jiang Feng smiled.
"Hidden route?"
Shen Tian smiled back.
"Probably."
MoonPetal stared between them.
"No."
Both looked at her.
"We’re not immediately taking the suspicious path."
Shen Tian raised an eyebrow.
"Why not?"
"Because that’s how people die."
Jiang Feng shrugged.
"It’s also how people find hidden rewards."
MoonPetal closed her eyes.
"...Of course you’d agree."
She sighed.
"Fine."
The three went right.
Less than thirty seconds later...
The wall behind them collapsed.
MoonPetal spun.
"What?!"
Stone slammed down.
The exit vanished.
Then...
Red eyes appeared in the darkness.
One pair.
Three.
Six.
Ten.
Jiang Feng immediately raised his sword.
MoonPetal prepared a spell.
Shen Tian counted.
"Twelve."
The creatures stepped forward.
Ruins Goblin
Level 7
HP: 420
Then larger shapes appeared behind them.
Ruins Goblin Warrior
Level 8
HP: 760
MoonPetal’s expression changed.
"There are warriors too."
Jiang Feng smiled.
"Good."
She stared at him.
"Why is that good?"
"More experience."
MoonPetal looked toward Shen Tian.
"Please tell me you’re normal."
Shen Tian drew his bow.
"No."
"...Fantastic."
The goblins charged.
Jiang Feng stepped forward.
"I’ll hold the front."
MoonPetal raised her staff.
"I’ll slow the back."
Shen Tian said nothing.
He released.
WHOOSH!
The first arrow struck a goblin directly in the eye.
CRITICAL HIT!
-188 HP
Before the monster reacted...
Another arrow arrived.
CRITICAL HIT!
-201 HP
Third.
-79 HP
Dead.
Jiang Feng had barely reached the first enemy.
Shen Tian was already aiming at the second.
WHOOSH!
WHOOSH!
WHOOSH!
Three arrows.
Three different targets.
Jiang Feng’s eyes widened slightly.
MoonPetal’s spell finished.
"Frost Field!"
Ice spread across the floor.
Five goblins slowed.
Shen Tian immediately changed targets.
Jiang Feng noticed.
"He understands crowd control."
MoonPetal blinked.
"What?"
"He switched targets the moment you slowed those five."
Shen Tian fired.
One.
Two.
Three.
The unrestrained goblins fell first.
Jiang Feng smiled.
"He’s prioritizing anything that can reach us."
MoonPetal looked toward Shen Tian.
He wasn’t even standing still.
He moved backward between shots.
Never colliding with pillars.
Never allowing enemies to surround him.
His bowstring moved continuously.
Draw.
Release.
Step.
Draw.
Release.
Turn.
Draw.
Release.
A Goblin Warrior charged.
Shen Tian activated...
Hunter’s Mark!
A red symbol appeared.
Power Shot!
The arrow struck the warrior’s throat.
CRITICAL HIT!
-347 HP
The warrior staggered.
Jiang Feng appeared.
Wandering Slash!
-124 HP
He followed with two basic attacks.
The warrior turned toward him.
Exactly what Shen Tian wanted.
Another arrow struck the back of its skull.
CRITICAL HIT!
The monster collapsed.
Jiang Feng looked toward Shen Tian.
"Nice."
Shen Tian nodded.
"You too."
MoonPetal shouted,
"Could you compliment each other after we survive?!"
Three goblins charged her.
Jiang Feng turned.
Too far.
MoonPetal raised her staff.
Before she could cast...
Three arrows passed beside her.
WHOOSH!
WHOOSH!
WHOOSH!
The first goblin stumbled.
The second was struck in the knee.
The third took an arrow directly through the forehead.
MoonPetal stared.
Shen Tian called out,
"Move left."
She instinctively obeyed.
A spear flew through the exact position where she’d been standing.
Her eyes widened.
"How did you..."
"Later."
Shen Tian released another arrow.
The spear thrower died.
Five minutes later...
The chamber became silent.
Bodies dissolved into particles.
Loot scattered across the floor.
MoonPetal slowly lowered her staff.
Jiang Feng sheathed his sword.
Then looked toward the combat contribution statistics.
His expression froze.
MoonPetal noticed.
"What?"
Jiang Feng silently shared the window.
----------------------------
Encounter Contribution
ShenTian — 71.8%
FallenWind — 17.4%
MoonPetal — 10.8%
----------------------------
Silence.
MoonPetal stared.
"..."
Jiang Feng stared.
"..."
Shen Tian looked over.
"What?"
MoonPetal pointed at the screen.
"You did seventy-two percent."
"Seventy-one point eight."
"That isn’t better!"
Shen Tian shrugged.
"You both helped."
Jiang Feng laughed.
"Helped?"
He looked toward Shen Tian.
"We were supporting characters."
MoonPetal nodded seriously.
"I cast Frost Field."
Jiang Feng pointed at himself.
"I distracted one warrior."
MoonPetal looked toward him.
"You killed two goblins."
"Thank you."
"You’re welcome."
They looked toward Shen Tian.
He was already collecting arrows.
MoonPetal whispered,
"Is he always like this?"
Jiang Feng shrugged.
"I met him the same time you did."
