Chapter 211: The Villain Takes A Small Break
Several days passed after Jiang Feng’s wedding.
For once...
Shen Tian did not immediately go searching for the next protagonist.
He knew one existed.
Xu Ning had already detected the enormous concentration of Fate somewhere beyond China’s borders.
She had attempted to calculate it.
Failed.
Then warned that the target was approaching at some point.
But Shen Tian had closed the panel.
Jiang Feng’s wedding had reminded him of something he had slowly begun forgetting.
Not everything needed to revolve around Fate.
Not every hour needed to be spent hunting opportunities.
Not every peaceful moment had to be interrupted because some arrogant idiot somewhere had awakened an ancient bloodline, discovered a hidden inheritance, or decided that a woman belonged to him because Heaven had written her name beside his.
Shen Tian had people now.
A family.
Friends.
Girlfriends.
Women who had followed him through increasingly ridiculous situations.
Cultivation battles.
Underground races.
Other worlds.
Virtual kingdoms.
Resurrections.
More than once...
They had waited while he disappeared to deal with whatever new disaster had emerged.
So when Yin Suyi quietly announced that the entire family would be leaving the city for several days...
Shen Tian did not argue.
He probably should have.
But he didn’t.
That was how he found himself standing outside a private mountain resort three hours from the city...
Staring at an enormous traditional estate hidden between forested slopes.
Steam drifted from natural hot springs.
A clear river wound through the valley.
Red maple leaves covered the paths.
Wooden buildings stretched across the mountainside, connected by bridges and lantern-lit walkways.
The entire resort had been reserved.
Naturally.
Shen Tian looked toward his mother.
"You rented the whole place?"
Yin Suyi calmly removed her sunglasses.
"No."
Shen Tian waited.
She continued.
"I bought it."
Silence.
Bai Xue slowly turned toward her.
"You bought the resort?"
Yin Suyi handed her coat to a waiting attendant.
"It was available."
Ling Shuangxue looked toward the reception building.
Her business instincts immediately activated.
"How much?"
Yin Suyi glanced at her.
"Enough."
Shen Tian sighed.
"That means too much."
Yin Suyi’s cold expression softened as she looked toward him.
"You needed somewhere private."
Shen Yan stepped out of the vehicle behind them.
She looked around the mountains.
Then toward the employees.
Then toward every visible exit.
Her bodyguard instincts had activated before she even finished closing the door.
"How many staff?"
The resort manager bowed.
"Thirty-two, Young Miss."
"Background checks?"
"Completed by Madam Yin’s security division."
"Emergency routes?"
"Three."
"Surveillance?"
"External paths and public buildings only. None near guest rooms or bathing facilities."
Shen Yan nodded.
"Acceptable."
Shen Tian stared.
"Are we relaxing or preparing for a siege?"
Shen Yan immediately looked toward him.
"Both."
Xu Ning floated beside him.
[She has already identified nine possible sniper positions.]
Shen Tian mentally sighed.
Of course she has.
The rest of the group began emerging from the convoy.
Ling Shuangxue.
Bai Xue.
Qin Ruobing.
Li Lian.
Ruan Yizhen.
Chu Zijin.
Chu Mei.
Chu Chuchu.
Chu Luoshen.
Chi Lingxi.
Su Yue.
Meng Lan had also been invited, though she had initially refused until Yin Suyi informed her that the restaurant would be fully staffed and compensated during her absence.
The old man came too.
Mostly because nobody had managed to stop him from entering the final vehicle.
He stepped onto the stone path carrying three bottles of wine.
Then he inhaled deeply.
"Mountain air!"
Everyone turned.
The old man spread his arms.
"Hot springs!"
He lifted one bottle.
"Wine!"
Meng Lan grabbed his sleeve.
"You are not drinking in the water."
The old man stared at her.
"That is exactly where wine tastes best."
"You recently came back from the dead."
"And I intend to enjoy the second life."
"You intend to fall asleep and drown."
The old man looked toward Shen Tian.
"Son-in-law."
Chi Lingxi’s face reddened immediately.
"Grandpa!"
The old man ignored her.
"Tell your future mother-in-law that a cultivator of my experience cannot drown in a hot spring."
Shen Tian considered it.
Then looked toward Meng Lan.
"He might drown."
The old man stared.
"Traitor."
Chi Lingxi laughed.
Shen Tian smiled at her.
She walked closer and quietly took his hand.
The old man saw.
His betrayed expression immediately transformed into delight.
"Never mind."
He nodded proudly.
"Excellent decision."
Chi Lingxi groaned.
"Can we put him in a separate building?"
Meng Lan sighed.
"I’ve been asking that for years."
The group began moving toward the main lodge.
Above them...
Steam drifted through the mountain air.
For the next few days...
The resort belonged entirely to them.
And Shen Tian had the strange feeling that this would somehow become more exhausting than fighting protagonists.
The main lodge was enormous.
Traditional wooden architecture blended with modern comfort.
The central sitting room overlooked the valley through a wall of glass.
Low tables rested on woven mats.
A fireplace burned near one side.
Tea had already been prepared.
The sleeping arrangements, however...
Immediately created conflict.
The manager placed a layout on the table.
"We have prepared the eastern residence for Young Master Shen."
Yin Suyi nodded.
"I’ll take the room beside his."
Shen Yan spoke at the same time.
"So will I."
Both women turned toward one another.
Silence.
The manager froze.
Shen Tian closed his eyes.
It had begun.
Yin Suyi calmly pointed toward the map.
"There is only one room directly beside Tian’s."
Shen Yan pointed toward the opposite side.
"That one shares a wall."
"It shares a storage corridor."
"It is still closer."
"I’m his mother."
"I’m his bodyguard."
"You are on vacation."
"Threats do not take vacations."
Bai Xue leaned toward Ling Shuangxue.
"How long do you think this lasts?"
Ling Shuangxue looked at the map.
"Until someone moves Shen Tian’s room."
Shen Tian heard.
"No one is moving my room."
Chu Mei raised her hand.
"We could all sleep in the same building."
Chu Chuchu immediately nodded.
"Like a sleepover."
Shen Tian looked toward them.
"Absolutely not."
Eleven disappointed expressions appeared.
Even Qin Ruobing looked mildly amused.
