Chapter 587 - 586: Let Him Rest in Peace
Inspector Cai charged forward, his face cold and expressionless. Qin Ya circulated his True Essence and met him with a thunderous palm strike. The force of his Palm Power was not only a match for the Half-Venerable Inspector Cai, but actually a notch stronger.
BOOM...
As fist met palm, immense Qi Force erupted, kicking up a furious gale that swirled with sand and dust!
Within the swirling dust, two figures clashed relentlessly. They moved so fast they were like blurs, vanishing before one could get a clear look and reappearing in another spot moments later. The cliff faces and the canyon floor all became their battlefield.
Honestly, against a puppet like Inspector Cai who couldn’t use any of his Mysterious techniques, Qin Ya could have obliterated him in moments, no matter how formidable his True Essence was. But he needed to subdue him, not kill him.
That made things rather difficult.
PENG...
Inspector Cai unleashed a powerful palm strike, sending a tidal wave of boundless True Essence mixed with Demonic Qi crashing forward. Qin Ya’s gaze sharpened. Taking a deep breath, he unleashed his True Meaning of Space, momentarily freezing the incoming energy. In that instant, he charged.
Qi and Blood surged through his veins as his Physical Strength erupted. His seemingly slender frame moved with the power of an ancient Fierce Beast. His arms coiled like pythons, grabbing Inspector Cai’s shoulders. With a low shout, he slammed the man brutally into the ground. A BOOM echoed as a crater over a hundred feet wide was blasted into the earth, cracks spiderwebbing out in all directions.
Yet Inspector Cai showed no sign of pain, remaining as impassive as a puppet. True Essence Demon Qi erupted from him without cease as he struggled to break free. Veins bulged on Qin Ya’s arms, his Qi and Blood surging as he pinned the Inspector firmly to the ground.
"Inspector Bai!" Qin Ya called out.
SWOOSH! A slender figure shot through the air and struck the back of Inspector Cai’s neck, trying to knock him out. However, the technique had no effect at all.
BOOM...
Inspector Cai’s struggles grew stronger, his power steadily increasing. Qin Ya’s brow furrowed. He immediately let go, pulling Bai Wuyou back and retreating from the fight.
"It’s no use. Conventional methods can’t restrain him."
"He’s like a puppet. Unless we kill the person pulling the strings, none of this will work."
There was a hint of helplessness in Qin Ya’s voice.
’A puppet has no consciousness; it only moves at the puppeteer’s command. Targeting the puppet itself is completely pointless.’
Bai Wuyou took a deep breath, a look of grim resolve in her eyes.
"Qin Ya, I’ve worked alongside Inspector Cai for nearly sixty years."
"I knew his character well. If he knew he was being manipulated like this, used to attack his own colleagues, he wouldn’t be able to rest even in death."
"So... let him rest in peace."
Hearing this, Qin Ya nodded. "I understand."
An icy glint flashed in his eyes as he charged toward Inspector Cai. He unleashed his True Meaning of Destruction and True Meaning of Space simultaneously, creating a mysterious ripple in the air. For a moment, space itself seemed to congeal, binding Inspector Cai’s body. Then, the Hand of Destruction descended without mercy!
The Hand of Destruction was vast and mighty, like a vision of the apocalypse!
Facing this attack, the puppetized Inspector Cai was powerless to resist. His body trembled, and the immense pressure caused the ground around him to collapse.
PENG...
The palm struck Inspector Cai with its full, unreserved power.
With a thunderous explosion, sand and earth flew everywhere. Shattered rocks shot out like cannonballs, pocking the surrounding cliffs with craters. The area was a scene of utter devastation.
Where Inspector Cai had stood, a massive crater hundreds of feet deep now yawned open. His body had been completely obliterated by the attack.
Deep within the massive crater, a faint purple light glimmered.
With a flicker, Qin Ya appeared at the bottom of the crater.
He reached out, and a surge of True Essence formed an invisible hand that plucked the speck of purple light from the rubble. On closer inspection, it was a Purple Jade Order!
This Token was none other than the Venerable Mansion’s... Inspection Order!
His figure flickered, and he reappeared before Bai Wuyou. He handed the Purple Jade Order to her. "This is all that’s left of him."
Bai Wuyou accepted the Jade Order, her expression filled with sorrow.
"Alas, Inspector Cai... may you find peace on your journey."
Then, an incomparably cold killing intent filled her eyes. "Demon Race," she said, her voice like ice, "Just you wait. I, Bai Wuyou, will not rest until I have my revenge!"
She clutched the Jade Order so tightly her knuckles turned white...
With no time to dwell on their sorrow, the group pressed on.
「Meanwhile, deep within Demon Heart Valley, beside an ancient altar...」
The gray-white-haired Demon Race elder abruptly opened his eyes, a dark look clouding his features. "Interesting," he said coldly. "They destroyed my new plaything so quickly. It seems there are some experts among our visitors."
"Oh? That was quick."
"Third Brother, that puppet of yours wasn’t very durable, was it? You spent months carefully Refining it, only for it to be destroyed so easily."
"Tsk, tsk. A Half-Venerable puppet, at that. Third Brother must be feeling the sting."
The Demon Race elder known as Third Brother had a terrifyingly grim expression. He slowly rose to his feet. "You all watch over the Demon Cave," he said. "I’ll be right back."
The member of the Demon Race sitting in the center frowned. "Be careful."
The Demon Race elder gave a sinister smile. "Boss, they’re not far. There’s no harm in me going ahead to greet them."
With that, his figure flickered and vanished.
SWOOSH, SWOOSH, SWOOSH...
In the valley, a squad of Human Race Kings had just finished off a dozen members of the Demon Race. Their faces were flushed with excitement as they cleaned up the battlefield and prepared to head deeper into the valley.
Just then, a figure radiating a terrifying Demonic Qi streaked across the sky high above them.
"What was that?"
"Hiss... such terrifying Demonic Qi! This is... Argh!"
"This demon is far more powerful than any of the ones we’ve hunted before."
Suddenly, ripples spread through the air. Strands of black Demonic Qi descended like threads, shooting toward the squad of Kings in the blink of an eye.
"What are these things?"
"Quick, get out of the way!"
The Kings tried to dodge, but the threads swayed as if carried by a breeze, easily catching up to them. They wrapped around their limbs, joints, and necks, binding them completely.
"Damn it! These things are invading my Divine Acupoints!"
"My True Essence... It’s useless...!"
"These threads... they’re eroding my True Essence Qi Sea! Damn it, I can’t break free! Aaargh! My Divine Acupoints... they’re devouring my Divine Thought!"
After a brief struggle, the black Demon Qi Threads burrowed into their bodies. Their eyes gradually turned pitch-black, as if stained with ink.
Their condition was identical to Inspector Cai’s.
High above, the ten fingers of the Demon Race’s Third Brother twitched with a strange rhythm. Seeing the Kings fall under his control, the corners of his mouth curled into a sinister sneer. "To the ones who destroyed my beloved plaything," he hissed, "I’m coming for you."
His figure shot forward, and the newly controlled Kings followed closely behind him.
They moved like the most loyal of death-sworn guards.
