Chapter 402 - 401: This is a Small Matter?
Qin Ya’s party of three descended upon Linfeng Pavilion.
A furious aura swept across the land, stunning the crowd. Not even the several Elders, all Half-Step Kings, could suppress the pressure. They especially didn’t dare resort to force after Ling Zhan brandished the Cyan Cloud Enforcement Order, revealing his status as a Law Enforcer.
Suddenly, an enormous face manifested in the sky.
The moment the face appeared, the oppressive auras from both sides vanished instantly. It was as if they could no longer draw upon the Heaven and Earth Primordial Qi, as though this entire space had fallen under the command of a singular will.
The face was formed from a mass of swirling clouds. Its eyes were indifferent and its features well-defined, resembling a middle-aged man in his forties. Upon seeing it, the Elders and the others bowed respectfully.
"Greetings, Pavilion Master!"
The lips of the indifferent face parted. "Please escort the Law Enforcers to the main hall."
With that, the enormous face slowly dissipated.
Ling Zhan snorted. "The Pavilion Master of Linfeng Pavilion certainly has some nerve. Law Enforcers from Kunyun Palace arrive, and he doesn’t even bother to greet us in person."
"Let’s go. We’ll see what kind of game this Pavilion Master is playing."
A cold glint flashed in Qin Ya’s eyes as the corner of his mouth curved into a smirk.
’Millions of lives were slaughtered in Shuo Province, and Linfeng Pavilion, the foremost Sect in this region, did nothing. They didn’t even report it to Kunyun Palace!’
How could the three of them not be furious?
Long after the group had departed, the shock they left in their wake still rippled through the Disciples.
"Gods, was that the Pavilion Master? What terrifying power! He merely manifested a face in the sky, yet it felt as irresistible as the Power of Heaven and Earth."
"Yeah. That’s a Martial Arts King for you."
"And who were those three, anyway? They acted so brazenly right here in Linfeng Pavilion, and they seemed completely confident in their backing."
"I thought I heard something about Law Enforcers."
The fact that Linfeng Pavilion was a vassal Sect to Kunyun Palace was a secret known only to a few high-ranking members. How could ordinary Disciples like them possibly know?
For a moment, wild speculation ran rampant.
Upon entering the main hall of Linfeng Pavilion, they saw a figure in a cyan robe standing with his hands clasped behind his back. Sensing their arrival, he slowly turned to face them.
His face was a perfect match for the middle-aged man who had just appeared in the sky.
"I am Qiann Feng, current Pavilion Master of Linfeng Pavilion. I greet the Law Enforcers."
Though he was a Martial Arts King, the people before him were Law Enforcers from Kunyun Palace, a status every bit as prestigious as his own, if not more so.
Thus, despite his high Cultivation, he had no choice but to adopt a humble posture.
Qin Ya and the others nodded, their expressions impassive.
"Master Qiann," Ling Zhan began, his expression cold as he stepped forward, his tone chilling, "I ask you, are you aware of the slaughter that took place in the thirteen cities of Shuo Province?"
Qiann Feng gave a wry smile and nodded. "I am well aware."
"’Aware?’ Hah. Then what is your explanation, Master Qiann?"
"Thirteen cities, one after another! Millions of lives! Can you explain that away?" Ling Zhan’s aura erupted, his voice laced with a bone-chilling coldness!
Naturally, Ling Zhan’s imposing aura had no effect on Qiann Feng. In a tone neither servile nor arrogant, he said, "Shuo Province may be a small place, but its territory still spans millions of miles. A dozen or so cities are but a drop in the bucket. By the time I discovered the matter and began investigating, there were no clues to be found."
"If you had no leads, then why didn’t you report it to Kunyun Palace!"
"I considered it a minor issue, not worth troubling the great masters of Kunyun Palace. I never expected... sigh. This was my mistake."
Qiann Feng sighed, a hint of remorse coloring his expression.
Qin Ya, who had been silent until now, snorted and stepped forward.
"A minor issue? Millions of lives are just a minor issue to you, Pavilion Master?"
"Right under the nose of Kunyun Palace, millions of people vanished without a trace, and no one has any idea what happened."
"And you call this a minor issue?!"
"Linfeng Pavilion, a vassal Sect of Kunyun Palace, was grossly negligent. You knew something was amiss, yet you had no intention of reporting it. Is that a minor issue?"
"Then tell me, Master Qiann, what *would* constitute a major issue in your eyes? Linfeng Pavilion collectively betraying Kunyun Palace? The entire population of Shuo Province being wiped from existence? Is that it!"
The killing intent in Qin Ya’s eyes grew bone-chillingly cold, like an aura of death rising from the Nine Netherworld itself, blanketing the entire hall. His words were sharper than any blade, relentless and pressing, one question striking after another.
His final words effectively branded Linfeng Pavilion with the crime of betraying Kunyun Palace.
Everyone present paled at his words, a chill running straight up their spines.
Qiann Feng’s breathing grew heavy. He stared at the youth before him—a boy whose age was a mere fraction of his own, with a Cultivation level incomparably weaker—and his face paled. A flicker of genuine fear showed in his eyes as he quickly stammered, "Young brother, I have absolutely no intention of betraying Kunyun Palace. You mustn’t make such wild accusations."
The old Half-Step King beside him stepped forward, pointing a finger at Qin Ya. "The Law Enforcer is speaking with the Pavilion Master," he sneered. "What business is it of a brat like you—"
SLAP...
Before the Elder could finish, Qin Ya’s form blurred. He slapped the old man square across the face, then reappeared in his original spot. The entire sequence happened in the blink of an eye; it was as if Qin Ya hadn’t moved at all. "I hate being pointed at," he said coldly. "Next time, you won’t get to keep that hand."
"You... you..."
The Elder’s face flushed crimson with rage. He gasped for air, nearly fainting on the spot.
At the same time, he was also gripped by an overwhelming sense of dread.
’I’m a Half-Step King! And this Qin Ya is only at the Sky-Controlling realm! How could he slap me before I could even react? It’s unthinkable!’
The onlookers were stunned into silence by the display.
’Since when were Sky-Controlling Martial Artists so ferocious?’
"Law Enforcer, this young man is..."
Qiann Feng asked, a note of confusion in his voice. He had originally assumed that this youth, whose Cultivation was merely at the Sky-Controlling Perfection realm, was some kind of aide to the Law Enforcer.
But judging by the boy’s sharp tongue and his shocking display of power, that was clearly not the case. ’So who is he?’
"He is a Law Enforcer, same as me."
As Ling Zhan spoke, Qin Ya produced his own Cyan Cloud Enforcement Order, then just as quickly put it away.
A tsunami of shock washed over everyone in the hall. This was especially true for Qiann Feng; through his previous dealings with Kunyun Palace, he knew just how difficult it was to become a Law Enforcer.
’To think that this boy, with a mere Cultivation at Sky-Controlling Perfection, had become a Law Enforcer... That was likely unprecedented in the entire history of Kunyun Palace!’
"So you are a Law Enforcer as well. My apologies for the offense."
Qin Ya was in a foul mood. Ever since arriving in Shuo Province and witnessing the aftermath of the bloody massacres in over a dozen cities, his thoughts kept turning to Jing’er. He remembered how that once-innocent, lively little girl had endured such a horrifying ordeal.
And now, after all the time Jing’er had spent with him, he had come to love her as his own sister. The thought made the rage in his heart burn even hotter, even more terrifyingly.
"I’m giving you one day. Prepare all intelligence related to the slaughtered cities. Otherwise, don’t blame us when we enforce the law without mercy!!"
"Understood."
Qiann Feng replied, then turned to an Elder behind him. "Elder Lin, go and prepare the best Cultivation Rooms for our three Law Enforcers to rest and recuperate."
"Yes."
After Qin Ya’s party had departed, Qiann Feng’s expression slowly hardened into a cold mask. A frigid, murderous glint flashed in his eyes as he sneered, "Law Enforcers. Hmph."
With a flicker, his form shot into the sky.
