Chapter 389 - 388: 8 Breaths
’Is this even possible?’
Qin Ya was stunned, but quickly shook his head, his gaze hardening. He condensed the power of Thunder, Fire, and Ice, thrusting his spear forward. It blasted into the giant’s head, blowing most of it away. And deep within the giant’s skull, Qin Ya glimpsed a flash of light!
Qin Ya focused his gaze and saw that the light was emanating from an earth-yellow gem. An instant later, the hole in the giant’s head mended itself. It roared and threw a punch, but Qin Ya dodged it with ease.
’Could it be... the giant’s core is the gem inside its head?’
The more Qin Ya thought about it, the more plausible it seemed. With a low shout, he fused the power of Thunder and Fire, unleashing a palm strike. He immediately followed it with a second.
The first palm strike shattered the giant’s head, while the second slammed into the gem. With a deafening boom, the gem erupted in a dazzling light, and a faint crack appeared on its surface.
"ROAR, ROAR, ROAR..."
As if grievously wounded, the giant roared in fury. Countless boulders materialized, wrapping tightly around its head. Its grayish-white eyes burned with rage.
’I underestimated the gem’s hardness.’
Qin Ya muttered to himself. Then, with a deep shout, a Mysterious fluctuation erupted from his body. The four energies of thunder, fire, ice, and wind fused, forming the Power of Nature!
Then, he thrust his spear, imbued with the Power of Nature. The strike, swift as a shooting star, instantly pierced the giant’s head. The immense power passed through the layers of rock and landed on the gem, which glowed with a mysterious luster.
CRACK! CRACK! The gem, harder even than Profound Iron, was instantly riddled with cracks. In the blink of an eye, it shattered into fragments. The giant let out a mournful cry as its body of countless rocks began to disintegrate. In the space of a single breath, it collapsed into a pile of rubble.
"Heh. Once you find the weak spot, it’s actually pretty simple."
As soon as he spoke, the very prairie before him began to tremble. One by one, giants rose to their feet, letting out long roars to the heavens. The immense sound waves swept through the clouds, shaking the very void.
"ROAR."
A giant, twice the size of the one Qin Ya had just fought, smashed its fist into another giant’s chest. The second giant was sent flying for thousands of feet, crashing into a mountain range that immediately crumbled from the impact!
The struck giant roared in defiance, scrambled to its feet, and stomped the ground, launching itself high into the air. It clenched its fist and brought it down on the other giant’s head. As boulders flew, the head shattered, revealing an earth-yellow gem within.
Then, boulders reconverged to patch the hole...
The two giants traded blows, their battle shaking the heavens and the earth!
The rest of the giants gathered around, roaring as if cheering them on. Suddenly, a hush fell over the sky as dark clouds gathered. A bolt of Thunder, so colossal it beggared description, crashed down, instantly obliterating the earth below. Countless giants were incinerated. From within the lightning, a huge figure walked out. Qin Ya stared, his pupils shrinking to pinpricks!
Its jet-black body was several times taller than the other giants, and boundless Thunder Energy crackled across its form. It had disheveled, raven-black hair, horns like a bull, and pale blue eyes filled with cold indifference. A single wave of its hand unleashed endless Thunder!
This was, unmistakably... a Thunder Giant!!
The Thunder Energy radiating from this giant was immeasurably more powerful than his own. The difference between them was like that of a toddler and a full-grown man.
’Don’t tell me this test requires me to defeat that thing?’
A bitter smile crept onto Qin Ya’s lips. ’Is the Law Enforcer exam really this hard?’ At that moment, a majestic voice rang out.
"Survive for eight breaths."
As the voice faded, the world around him dissolved, replaced by a vast Cloud Sea. Within it, the Thunder Giant’s colossal form blotted out the sun, its presence as terrifying as a Demon God’s!
The giant simply lifted a finger, and a bolt of Thunder crashed down.
The massive bolt of Thunder resembled a lightning dragon, blindingly bright and powerful enough to destroy anything in its path. Qin Ya’s pupils constricted as he erupted with the Four Symbols Mysteries, forming a torrent of power to meet the strike.
The clouds for thousands of feet in every direction were violently thrown back. Qin Ya barely managed to withstand the Thunder Power. And yet, only two breaths had passed.
The giant’s cold, pale-blue eyes glanced at Qin Ya. Then, from within the dark clouds, endless Thunder surged forth. A massive bolt descended from the heavens, aimed straight for him.
The might of the bolt was akin to Celestial Punishment!
Qin Ya didn’t dare to meet it head-on. He unleashed his Mysterious Speed to its absolute limit, his body streaking across the void like a shooting star. But the bolt, as if it possessed its own Spirituality, pursued him relentlessly!
His brow furrowed. As he flew, Qin Ya unleashed his Four Symbols Mysteries, condensing them into the mighty Power of Nature. He augmented this with his Mysteries of Destruction and fired a blast at the pursuing thunderbolt.
The two powers collided, stirring the very elements and making the world seem to turn grim.
At this point, five breaths had passed.
’Three breaths to go!’
Qin Ya’s face was grim; he didn’t dare let his guard down. He unleashed his True Essence at full blast. With his spear in hand, he gathered the two Mysteries—Destruction and the Four Symbols—and formed an immense power.
He blasted it forth!
He had actually seized the initiative and attacked first!
The Thunder Giant remained impassive. It condensed a ball of pale blue lightning in its palm that, while seemingly simple, contained enough energy to make the very void tremble.
When the lightning ball shot forward, the raging electricity warped the void itself. Its light, like a blue Sun, eclipsed everything in existence!
As the two powers collided, countless chaotic torrents of energy erupted in the void, sweeping through the world with a ferocity that threatened to rip everything apart. Yet, the lightning ball continued to advance, and even the combined might of the Power of Nature and the Power of Destruction could not stop it!
Qin Ya gritted his teeth, his True Essence erupting!
Two more breaths passed. The lightning shattered his defense and continued toward him with unstoppable might. Qin Ya’s scalp tingled with dread. He unleashed his Mysterious Speed to its absolute limit, fleeing like a streak of Flowing Light, but the lightning ball was just as fast, if not faster. In the blink of an eye, it was upon him.
Just as he was about to be annihilated, everything before him shattered and vanished!
"Pass!" The majestic voice rang out again. Qin Ya wasn’t sure if he was imagining it, but this time, the perpetually indifferent voice seemed to carry a hint of admiration.
After everything in front of him disappeared, Qin Ya found himself back in the great hall.
The Divine Thought Illusion was over.
"Ting Xiao, were those giants from before real?"
Having returned to his senses, Qin Ya couldn’t help but ask.
"Of course. To my knowledge, ten thousand years ago in Beihuang, a clan of giants did exist. As for whether any of them can still be found today, that is unknown."
"Beihuang... Heh, that’s a bit too far away."
The Azure Sky Realm was immense. Qin Ya had only ever been active in the Southern Domain. While Beihuang was adjacent to the Southern Domain, they were separated by innumerable natural barriers that only a handful of powerful experts could traverse. Thus, interaction between the Southern Domain and Beihuang was exceedingly rare.
"Hey, more than half the people are gone."
Just then, a voice tinged with surprise snapped Qin Ya out of his contemplation. He turned to look, his expression changing slightly.
He saw that only six people remained in the great hall.
They were Xue Qianlong, Zhang Qin, Bai Li, Jiang Yun, Ling Zhan, and Qin Ya himself. And of these six, only three would become Law Enforcers!
