The Invincible Full-Moon System

Chapter 1999: Arriving at the Beacon

Several times, the glass prism tried to cast the Flare of Random Rewind on Rex and the others.

But it failed every time.

Possessing multiple Laws came in really handy.

In the Spirit Realm, there are only a few individuals who possessed multiple Laws like Rex did, and the ones who did had a combination of Minor Laws or a Law with a Minor Law. All of them are also at the peak of existence within the realm.

Powerhouses that sat at the highest point within the power pyramid.

And within the Primordial Meadow, possessing three Laws placed Rex above average in strength.

He would be one of the powerhouses once he got his hands on a Major Law.

Even without it—his Laws were so incredibly practical that he could get away with most things because of them. The Law of Invincibility allowed him to bypass the Flare of Random Rewind, making it quite frankly inevitable for him, along with Davina and Lilliana, to take the next step.

And then the next.

Of course, blocking this several times was energy-demanding.

Fortunately for Rex, he has the Law of Misdirection to parry the green flare without a problem.

It didn’t take long for them to reach the glass prism.

Rex clenched his fist until and then slammed his knuckles onto the glass prism, not forgetting to boost his punch with Brutal Impulse. Terrible writings spread across one side of the glass prism, and once the blast happened, it shattered into a hundred fragments.

Something quaked the ground under his boots the moment the glass prism shattered.

But nothing happened after.

"Did you need to shatter it?" Lilliana asked, worried that it might have complications.

"We can’t stay for too long." Rex shrugged nonchalantly, as if he wasn’t afraid that the Weaver of Time would be displeased and trap them in time. "We need to quickly find one of the Wardens. The sooner we meet with one, the faster we leave this realm."

He has a set of goals in mind for coming to the Sundial Arch.

And those goals could only be achieved by meeting someone with power. Someone who was tied close to the Weaver of Time. There are probably sections within the Sundial Arch—that would provide them with a golden opportunity, but they simply can’t waste time.

Not when they only have three days to prepare.

"Look!"

Davina pointed to the horizon ahead.

A beacon of green light could be seen shining brightly and then flickered as if it was signalling for them to come to it. Rex’s eyes narrowed as he sent the System’s scanning ray to reach that beacon, and then a notification appeared.

...

Description: A sky-reaching obelisk containing an immense concentration of immortal energy—and coated with the Time Oustification. Within its walls, a hundred intricate clusters of energy channels had been woven together in sophisticated layers, each one bound directly to the Stasis Arch Formation.

...

A power source. A Warden might be in there.

Rex glanced at the others, giving them a nod, and then sprinted straight toward the green beacon.

For the entire way to the Obelisk of Arching Time, Rex was surprised to find—that the first glass prism wasn’t the only glass prism around. It was one of many that continued to try and send him back through the Flare of Random Rewind.

And the closer he got, the harder it was to block or parry it.

Not because the potency of the flare was getting stronger, but because the glass prisms were becoming more and more random. Initially, they were above ground and on the way. Then, the glass prisms began to appear in the sky. And then underground.

Each one came at a different angle that served to test whether the invaders had a blind spot.

Rex has already summoned the Aegis of Moon Sentinel, using it to parry the incoming flare even before it reaches him. Coupled with Lilliana, who retained a sliver of the creature’s senses—allowing her to be more attuned to the realm, thus predicting the glass prisms.

Not even one flare slipped through.

Entering the ten-mile range, the glass prisms began to appear in twos.

Since they have no blind spots, the realm now tested whether they could endure being overwhelmed.

Each mile increased one glass prism.

Once again, the group easily handled the glass prisms due to their bloodlines.

As werewolves, their bodily strength and senses are their strong points.

That naturally includes their reflexes.

Swoosh—!

Rex’s crimson eyes darted left and right.

Green flashes flickered at the edges of his vision. Seven glass prisms ignited almost in unison, separated only by milliseconds—their surfaces blazed with emerald right and then burst—firing the same attack as the ones from earlier, the Flare of Random Rewind.

Instinctively, Davina raised her hands.

Energy surged from her palms in a concentrated beam and struck Rex square in the back, flooding his reserves. Enough for one last push to reach the Obelisk of Arching Time. Beside her, Lilliana was also doing the same thing, but also more than that.

Her focus narrowed, and her senses spread outward like a web.

She tracked every flare before it manifested.

"Two from the left, right, and below."

Six flares screamed toward them; faster than the ones they had passed earlier. Rex’s hand shot out, and the golden disk peeled from his back and banked hard right, slicing through the air in a tight arc to meet with the closest flares.

It met two flares mid-flight, and parried them into random directions with the Law of Misdirection.

Parried them anywhere but here.

Spark scattered, and the flares veered off and detonated against distant dunes.

His body then twisted—the Red Dawn of Kaiser swept in a blur of crimson steel, catching the other two flares from the opposite side and dispersing them on impact in a shower of dying emerald light using the Law of Inevitability.

"Two more below!" Lilliana’s shout cut through the chaos.

Seeing that Rex couldn’t move in time, Davina and Lilliana cartwheeled toward him.

Both tucked tight as flares burst from the sand where they had stood a heartbeat before.

Rex crossed his arms against his chest, deciding that they would need to reach the Obelisk of Arching Time first. Knowing what was thinking, the sisters leaped simultaneously, knees drawn to their chests, and it was then Rex’s arms snapped open.

Swoosh—!

A wave of energy detonated outward, catching them mid-air and launching them forward like arrows.

Straight toward the obelisk a mile away.

Almost instantly, the remaining glass prisms flickered and adjusted—a volley erupted.

A rapid-fire cascade of emerald flares. Each one a streak of time rewind—aimed at the two figures that were hurtling through the air. Rex vanished from his spot, making three consecutive steps at incredible speed as he cast the Primordial Step skill.

His body then crackled with black lightning, pushing him to the breaking point.

In an instant, his body became a bolt of black, streaking across the distance faster than the flares.

Rex reached Davina and Lilliana before the first flare could land, and then he became a shield. His body moved and twisted at blistering speed—right, left, up, down. He circled them in a defensive blur as he intercepted the incoming flares.

A half-mask already covered one side of his face as he activated the Law of Foresight.

Now, he could see the trajectories of each flare, allowing him to be even more precise.

Coupled with Lilliana’s voice that warned him of the flares that had a fainter presence, none got in.

"Two from above and one behind."

The Red Dawn of Kaiser met them, leaving behind trails of beautiful crimson.

"Three left, coming in low."

Rex’s hand moved again, guiding the golden disc to spin around and deflect them.

"Right, point-blank!"

Almost in an instant, he raised his arm and blocked it with his forearm, dispersing the flare entirely.

Fifty flares—in under ten seconds. Each one was tracked. Each one was blocked. Even when two came at the exact same instant from opposite vectors, one hand swatted while the other slashed. A split-second symphony of reflex and precision.

Back before he got the System, he thought werewolves were nothing special.

Possessing incredible physical strength is nothing compared to the adaptations of a Shapeshifter, the Blood Magic of the Vampires, or even the nature affinity that Elves possessed. Now, he realized that simplicity is what makes the werewolves incredibly efficient in hunting.

Enhanced reflexes and senses never waned in effectiveness, no matter how strong he became.

As for the others heavily relied on their current state of power.

Lagged behind too much and their abilities’ effectiveness would drop and practically become worthless.

Mid-air, Rex spun his body into a horizontal rotation slash. The Red Dawn of Kaiser sliced through the air and parried two flares, sending them back to the glass prisms that had fired them. A shattering crack of breaking glass echoed right after.

He then landed on the green sand and skidded backward, carving twin trenches through the desert floor.

Once he came to a stop, he straightened.

Rex swept his gaze and realized the firing had stopped—the remaining prisms let out a collective hum and then dimmed. Only then did he exhale slowly and retract his Soul Artifacts. He turned around and found the Obelisk of Arching Time was already behind him.

It was massive and tall.

The three of them looked like medium-sized insects compared to it.

Unlike everything around, the Obelisk of Arching Time wasn’t green.

It rose in pristine white like the color of untouched clouds, while glowing green channels pulsed within its walls—minuscule rhythms of energy that Rex could feel thrumming against his senses, though they barely registered to Davina and Lilliana.

And the tip of this towering structure is glowing with a brilliant green—the beacon they saw earlier.

"What is this thing?" Davina murmured.

"A power source," Rex replied and walked toward the entrance of the obelisk—which was a giant arch that felt like it was made only for giants. "It was the power source that powered the formation. I’m sure a Warden is at the top."

Once he stood directly before the giant arch, Rex stopped.

He realized there was a translucent pale green barrier that was blocking the way.

Naturally, Rex scanned it with the System and learned that the requirement to enter was the same as the cure for the Time Bleed afflicting Davina. He needed Time Oustification or the Major Law of Time to enter the Obelisk of Arching Time.

Both of which he didn’t have.

"Great..." Rex spun—and threw his arms up. "There’s a barrier blocking the way, so we can’t fucking enter it."

"A barrier?" Davina approached the arch and saw the same thing. "And we can’t enter it?"

"Yes, we need Time Oustification or the Major Law of Time. None of us have it."

"Then what should we do?"

"I’m going to attack it—of course. I’m going to knock on it so hard the Warden would have no choice but to come out."

"Okay, let’s not do that... We are already trespassing, and now you want to instigate the Warden more by attacking its potential residence? Since when are you this impulsive?’

"Since the fact that we need to fight powerful Demigods in three days."

Rex has no other choice but to force his way through.

He can’t leave empty-handed. At least not when he had already gone this far into the Sundial Arch.

It would leave a knot in his chest.

"Oh? The barrier disappeared."

Rex and Davina snapped their heads towards the giant arch and saw Lilliana was standing there, putting one hand into the obelisk. Since she could place her hand in, then she must not be lying—but the System told him otherwise.

Confused, Rex approached the giant arch to check with his own two eyes.

And as Lilliana said, the green translucent barrier was no more.

"What did you do?"

"I don’t know. I only touched it, and the barrier crumbled."

"Huh...? It crumbled?"
