Chapter 1269: Twenty Percent
Lin Tian recognized the bottle of red wine Wang Sijing ordered. It was a red wine brewed by Haut-Brion, one of the eight great châteaux of Tang Country, always highly sought after and considered top-tier among reds.
But after a few sips, Lin Tian smacked his lips a couple of times and didn’t feel it was anything special.
Sure enough, he was still too much of a vulgar layman.
Seeing that Lin Tian was ignoring her, Wang Sijing gritted her teeth and asked again, "What will it take for you to stop?!"
Lin Tian glanced at her and said with a squinty smile, "What are you talking about? I don’t really get what you mean."
Wang Sijing took another deep breath, slapped the table, and said, "Stop playing dumb with me!"
Lin Tian chuckled, "You invite me here to talk business, and this is the attitude you give me? Really puts me in a bad mood."
"..."
Lin Tian generously waved his hand and said, "Forget it, forget it, I can’t be bothered to put on airs with you. The sooner we finish, the sooner I can leave. Just looking at your face makes people want to puke."
"What will it take for you to stop?" Wang Sijing pressed on relentlessly, directly ignoring all the extra crap.
Lin Tian sized her up and said, "Who knows if you’ve got some recording device on you, or if there’s one hidden in this private room?"
This guy had almost worn down all of Wang Sijing’s patience. She glared at him and asked, "Then what do you want?"
"Simple. Take off your clothes and pants, let me snap a couple of photos. That way, even if you did record me, I’m still not scared."
Wang Sijing’s hand went to her waist, where a dagger was tucked!
"Heh, just kidding, why are you getting so worked up?" Lin Tian said casually with a smile, "Besides, your figure isn’t that great anyway. From my angle, you’re a bit flat, maybe even starting to sag."
Fuck!
Wang Sijing could no longer hold back the fire in her chest. She stood up, and with a sharp "swish," the dagger at her waist flashed out, cold light gleaming, stabbing straight at Lin Tian’s throat.
Lin Tian waved his hand, his wrist circling once around hers, and the dagger ended up in his own hand.
Crack!
With a crisp sound, Lin Tian dislocated Wang Sijing’s wrist.
"I originally thought you might’ve made some progress, but you’re still pulling knives. I really don’t get why they sent you to negotiate with me."
Noticing the bloodshot fury in her eyes, Lin Tian said, "If you don’t want to talk, just leave. I only dislocated your wrist, it’s not like I cut your Achilles tendon."
Wang Sijing really wanted to just walk away, then wait for another chance to land a fatal blow on this bastard and take his damn life. She had even taken a step toward the door, wanting to leave, but still forced herself to hold back. In the end, she sat back down without saying a word.
"You don’t look very sincere either. You even brought a knife. Are you here to talk business with me, or to settle a score?" Lin Tian toyed with the freshly confiscated dagger, looking at her with a playful gaze.
From the moment she was late, to when she walked into this private room, every word out of Lin Tian’s mouth was like a knife, stabbing into Wang Sijing one cut at a time, pushing her so hard she actually pulled a real blade. Yet she still hadn’t walked away.
Besides roasting Wang Sijing, Lin Tian was also testing her—or rather, testing the Wang Family’s bottom line.
Even after all this, she still hadn’t left. Looks like...the Wang Family really is out of options.
"State your terms," Wang Sijing said after calming herself.
"Heh, terms?"
Lin Tian felt it was a bit funny: "Things between us have long been like water and fire. We’d both love to kill each other, but it’s hard for either side to actually pull it off. Yet right now I’ve got a chance to get rid of Wang Daoran, destroy your Wang Family money tree, and shake the very foundation of the Wang Group. What kind of terms do you think could possibly move me?"
Seeing that she wanted to speak, Lin Tian went on, "And don’t think I don’t know this. A few days before the incident at the gambling hall, you were already preparing to go after Qiansimei—starting from the raw medicinal materials and the pharma staff, trying to rot Qiansimei’s roots. Pretty ruthless move. It’s just that I acted a bit faster, cut you off halfway, and left you with no energy to deal with me."
To be honest, Wang Sijing didn’t know about this. She only knew that a few days ago, when Wang Daoran went home, Grandpa told him four words: ’Do everything possible.’ Then he just let Wang Daoran do as he pleased.
The medicinal raw materials and pharma staff Lin Tian mentioned were, in her view, only the first move on Wang Daoran’s part. There would definitely have been a whole follow-up combo that could’ve beaten Qiansimei half to death.
That was more in line with Wang Daoran’s style—one strike to kill, hit the snake at seven inches.
But who knows whether it was Wang Daoran or the Wang Family as a whole—these last two years their luck had been terrible. They ran into such a tough opponent that every punch they threw hit nothing but air.
Now it was obvious those pieces couldn’t be used anymore—they’d already been noticed and removed.
Lin Tian didn’t know what was going through her mind, and he didn’t care. He just looked down at the beautiful view outside the window and said, "Your Wang Family has nothing to offer me. Power? I’m not interested. Money? A bit, but it feels too tacky. As for pill recipes and Cultivation Techniques, don’t even start. Your Wang Family simply can’t produce them. So, tell me: what’s your bottom line for this trip?"
If the Ancient Martial the Wang Family sent Wang Sijing here, Lin Tian didn’t believe for a second they came unprepared. What, did they think he was a kid?
Knowing Lin Tian’s character—that he won’t budge whether you’re soft or hard—Wang Sijing didn’t want to drag this out anymore. She directly said, "Five percent of the Wang Group’s equity."
How much was five percent of the Wang Group worth? Lin Tian hadn’t calculated it, and couldn’t even if he tried, but it was definitely an astronomically shocking number.
For such a massive conglomerate, putting five percent on the table was already a lot. After all, that was like cutting flesh off their own bodies.
But Lin Tian wasn’t satisfied. He opened his hand and flipped it lazily, saying, "Make it fifteen percent. The Wang Group’s a major conglomerate after all. Offering five percent to save your lives—doesn’t that sound a bit pathetic?"
Wang Sijing’s eyes went wide again, rage blazing in her chest. This bastard wasn’t here to negotiate—he was here to screw things up!
"Impossible!"
"There’s nothing impossible in this world," Lin Tian said with a smile. "Give me fifteen percent and we’ll mind our own business from now on. Think about it—what’s a smaller loss: fifteen percent of the shares, or the whole company going under?"
Wang Sijing knew this was a threat, but she had no way around it. She could only grit her teeth and shout, "Eight percent. Not a bit more."
"Fifteen percent." Lin Tian didn’t loosen up at all.
"Ten percent!"
The two of them argued back and forth. When it hit ten percent, Wang Sijing refused to budge any further, and her breathing grew heavier.
After several rounds of pointless haggling, they finally settled on twelve percent.
Normally, once a negotiation was done, both sides would stand up, shake hands, and toss out a "pleasure doing business." But Wang Sijing had absolutely no such mood. After they finished talking, she grabbed her bag and strode off.
"So rude." Watching her storm out, Lin Tian finished off the rest of the red wine, pulled out his phone, and said, "You can do it now."
