Chapter 1271: Arrest Warrant

Lin Tian was taken aback, then he chuckled and said, "The lawyer is sitting right next to me, and you say you want to kill me. If one day I really die, you won’t be able to wash your hands of it, will you? Besides, are you senile? Your son dies, and you blame it on me? I can tell you clearly, he died at the hands of an old man named Kun Yun. You might not know him, but Wang Sijing does."

"Do you think I’m easy to fool?" Wang Daoran’s voice turned colder.

"Believe it or not." Lin Tian shrugged, "After all, the situation between us is like fire and water now, what’s another blame to take?"

Having said that, Lin Tian directly snatched the contract from Wang Daoran’s hand, left one copy, and headed out with the lawyer.

As he just walked out of the office, Lin Tian suddenly came back, smiling as he said, "Also, I’ve seen through all your little tricks. Tell your people to leave, and don’t target Qiansimei anymore."

Wang Daoran’s face flushed with anger, but he had nowhere to vent it, and in the end, he could only kick his desk in frustration. But the desk was made of hardwood, much sturdier than Wang Daoran’s foot, and with a ’bang,’ it hurt his toe so much it felt like it was broken. The sharp pain was truly unbearable.

Hearing Wang Daoran’s cry of pain, Lin Tian felt even better, and his steps quickened; otherwise, the employees here might think he had beaten up their chairman.

Taking the elevator, Lin Tian and the lawyer went down to the first floor, where they encountered four policemen passing by, heading into the elevator.

Seeing this, Lin Tian’s smile grew wider. He really wanted to go back and take another look at Wang Daoran’s face, which was as red as a pig’s liver.

...

Wang Daoran sat in his chair, looking in pain at his big toe, which had turned red, and when he gently touched it with his finger, he grimaced and hissed in pain.

Suddenly, the door to Wang Daoran’s office was slammed open, as if someone had kicked it in.

Wang Daoran was startled, nearly falling off his chair. He looked up to see a crew-cut middle-aged man, and his anger flared, "Are you out of your mind? Can’t you knock?"

The crew-cut middle-aged man seemed not to hear, quickly said, "Chairman, a group of police have come to arrest Secretary Zhou!"

"What?!"

Hearing the news, Wang Daoran froze, and he sprang from his chair, hurriedly putting on his shoes, saying coldly, "Stop them for me!"

Because of the earlier kick, with each step, Wang Daoran’s toe throbbed as if it might break, but he could only grit his teeth, limping quickly to Secretary Zhou’s office door, where several people had already gathered, peeking inside.

"What are you all looking at?! Don’t you want to work?!"

Fueled with pent-up anger, Wang Daoran had no place to release it, and seeing a group of idlers gathered, how could he have a pleasant expression? He shouted, "Get back to work!"

The onlookers at the office door were startled, turning to see the chairman glaring murderously at them, their faces turned pale as they scurried away.

Wang Daoran walked to Secretary Zhou’s office door and saw that besides Secretary Zhou, there were four uniformed policemen inside, all appearing ready.

"What’s going on?"

Wang Daoran stood at the door, asking coldly. Having navigated the business world for decades, he had honed a formidable presence. Though he was inwardly anxious, outwardly he showed no fear, the only sign of emotion being his thunderstruck face.

Even if the police chief himself were before him, he might not be intimidated.

At the moment, Wang Daoran was filled with fury, about to explode!

Arresting his secretary was tantamount to throwing dirt on him — beyond humiliation!

"Mr. Wang." The policeman in front of Secretary Zhou’s desk turned with a forced grin. Though he knew that Wang Daoran was not a good man, until he was behind bars, he had to remain respectful... not someone to provoke.

Wang Daoran didn’t recognize these small-time policemen and had no reason to be pleasant. Looking at the policeman who had just spoken, he asked, "What’s your name?"

"He Ling." The policeman answered.

"Mr. He, coming to my territory to arrest my people, should give me an explanation, right?" Wang Daoran frowned and said, "If you just take people away so easily, I might as well not operate in Kanyue City anymore."

He Ling approached with a piece of paper, saying, "This is the arrest warrant for Zhou Tangyan. We’re just doing our duty."

Looking at the arrest warrant and glancing at the final seal, Wang Daoran felt half his spirit drained. But he still maintained his composure and asked, "What crime did he commit?"

He Ling replied, "Related to the accounts of the gambling den and drug trafficking. As for other matters, I don’t know the details, you know, I’m just a small officer."

After hearing this, Wang Daoran glanced at Secretary Zhou, his expression extremely complicated.

Secretary Zhou also looked at Wang Daoran, his chapped lips moving as if to speak, yet he remained silent.

Secretary Zhou was eventually taken away by the four policemen, and Wang Daoran couldn’t stop them.

The arrest warrant was issued by the People’s Procuratorate, one of the most severe legal measures.

Three conditions for arrest: evidence proving the crime; the crime the suspect is involved with could result in a sentence exceeding imprisonment; if granting bail or residential surveillance is insufficient to prevent social danger, then arrest is necessary.

Wang Daoran couldn’t stop it, having to watch helplessly as Secretary Zhou disappeared from view, like an outsider.

Secretary Zhou’s real surname is Wang, named Wang Tangyan, sent by the Ancient Martial Wang Family to monitor him. Wang Daoran was well aware, having been with him for almost twenty years, realizing it a long time ago.

Though Zhou Tangyan was there to monitor him, they had a superior-subordinate relationship and were in the same boat, plus his role as his secretary meant Zhou Tangyan had enough to handle and no need to touch certain matters.

Many things Wang Daoran couldn’t tell outsiders, but he could with Secretary Zhou.

Things like the gambling den, drug trafficking, and arms trade were all known to Secretary Zhou, to be precise, he knew even more details than Wang Daoran, as he was an undercover agent for the Ancient Martial Wang Family. The public affairs were handled by Wang Daoran, while secret affairs were mostly handled by Secretary Zhou.
