Chapter 1331 - 673: Fleeing
The situation is urgent, and Ahua’s ear sensitivity far surpasses that of ordinary people. At this moment, he has already heard the sounds of commotion from afar. There was no time to worry about concealing his identity, with one hand holding her, he bravely grabbed the whip and shouted, "Get off!" His eyes had transformed into emerald vertical pupils and he kicked his foot!
Demon! The coachman was startled by the sudden appearance of cat eyes in the dark. His hands went limp, and the whip was snatched by the other hand. He was also kicked off the carriage, immediately receiving two lashes on his body, stinging like fire!
He dared not delay and ran as fast as he could, simultaneously shouting, "Help! There’s a demon here!"
In this moment, Ahua had already carried Ning Xiaoxian into the carriage. As he was about to close the door, he suddenly exclaimed in surprise, "Oh, how come there’s a red thread on my benefactor?"
Ning Xiaoxian was puzzled and asked, "What red thread?"
She didn’t know that in Ahua’s eyes, there seemed to be a red thread mysteriously leading from an infinite distance, one end tied to her body.
He noticed that Ning Xiaoxian seemed unaware of this and found it strange. Yet, when he pinched the thread, it snapped easily.
This was truly peculiar, as Ahua scratched the back of his head in confusion.
He wasn’t aware that at the snap of his fingers, a black spiritual cat over a hundred miles away bristled in anger and screamed, "Which damned bastard dared to sever my hidden thread?"
The leader frowned and asked, "Can’t find her?"
His voice was completely level, yet the spiritual cat shivered and replied, "No, no. I’ve already detected her last known position, where there’s a considerable amount of human presence. If we go there and inquire carefully, we might just find her."
The leader said indifferently, "It better be so."
At this moment, time was tight, and Ahua didn’t have the luxury to ponder further. He didn’t know whose vagrant’s family this carriage belonged to, its interior was poor, and even the cushions were somewhat damaged. He could only have her lean against the soft seat, trying to make her as comfortable as possible, before climbing into the front seat and driving the horse carriage at full speed out of the county town!
Fortunately, the gate control of this small county town was quite loose, and during the year-end even the guards were sleeping soundly in the gatehouse. When Ahua drove the carriage rumbling through the city gate and off into the distance, the guard rubbed his sleepy eyes and sat up from his bed.
This really troubled Ning Xiaoxian. The aftereffects of the Summoning God Technique had already tortured her with immense body pain, keeping her awake at night. The shock absorption of this carriage was poor and after leaving the county town and bumping wildly on the gravel road, the pain she felt increased from tenfold to fifteenfold, causing her to clench her upper and lower rows of teeth grindingly.
However, she has always been highly tolerant of pain and knew that Ahua was single-mindedly trying to save her, not intentionally causing her suffering. So she bore it silently, without uttering a sound.
After leaving the city gate, Ahua took a small path, becoming increasingly remote and desolated. After a mad rush of over half an hour, the carriage had entered deep into the mountains.
At this moment, Ahua had recovered from the state of panic after the killing, regaining much clarity and realizing the incriminating evidence couldn’t stay in his hands. So en route, he abandoned the carriage, led the horse away, mounted it, and rode on, naturally still holding Ning Xiaoxian.
He traveled under the stars and moon, with a chilly wind blowing past him, yet a warm flow rushing through his chest.
He could finally do something for her!
The beloved lady in his arms, her starry eyes slightly closed, he couldn’t help but lower his head for a sneaky glance at her, his heart brimming with delight.
After another two quarters of running, he reached the destination.
It was a cave deeply buried by shrubs, with winding depths, keeping the icy wind out as much as possible.
Familiar with the place, he drilled inside, finding the cave astonishingly clean, with no unpleasant smell. Ahua carefully placed the beloved lady on the soft dry straw, only to find her face pale, her jaws clenched tight, giving him a scare as he hurriedly asked, "What’s the matter with you?"
Ning Xiaoxian barely opened her eyes and replied, "I’m fine, just need a rest. What place is this?"
Ahua responded sheepishly, "This is the nest I built myself. When I occasionally feel out of place among humans, I come here to stay for a few days." Even a cunning rabbit has three burrows, after all, he is a demon and naturally set up a hideout for himself in the wild.
But it was indeed simple here, without a decent bed. After all, whenever he returned, he would revert to cat form, not needing the human array of equipment.
While speaking, his hands were busy as ever. There was some dry firewood stored in the cave, which he took out to light a fire. His moves were agile, and soon, the warm flames illuminated the entire cave.
