Chapter 1305 - 659: Power of Clarity
This was the power of conviction—it could even force the body to make unrealistic reactions. It had long been said that the hardest person to deceive is oneself, yet God Jiu You’s Divine Thought was so strong it could not only deceive himself, but even truly manifest into entities the things he believed in. How could such a Soul Body possibly fear the God Slaying Thunder that tormented one’s mind?
Having landed the first move, Changtian’s following sword momentum naturally struck down like Thunder, utterly merciless.
Having suffered a heavy loss once, God Jiu You’s expression instead calmed. His tall, slender body suddenly turned into smoke, avoiding the vital strike, and instead climbed along Changtian’s right arm, heading straight for his chest.
Changtian frowned slightly. He had Divine Power forming a protective body, and when the black smoke met the Jing Guang, it was like ice clashing with fire, sending out a faint sizzling sound as both were rapidly consumed. Yet the black smoke still advanced very quickly; in an instant it had already rushed to his chest.
Changtian’s thin lips parted, and he spat a mouthful of Colorless Divine Fire directly at the black smoke. God Jiu You recognized the danger, but did not dodge; instead he charged forward head-on.
As soon as the black smoke touched the Divine Fire, it was instantly purified into nothingness. But it had condensed very tightly, so the Divine Fire was only continuously melting away its outer layers. That mass of black mist had been the size of a fist at first; by the time it pounced upon Changtian’s chest, it was already smaller than a pinky nail. At this moment, a black bead the size of a grain of wheat shot out from within the smoke like lightning, its speed incomparably swift. It finally broke through the encirclement of Divine Fire and plunged into the position of Changtian’s heart!
Changtian’s movements instantly froze!
His vision blurred, and all the scenes before his eyes immediately changed. For an instant, he did not know where he was.
...
This was inside the main army tent of the Barbarians. The firewood in the brazier crackled as it burned, the fine wine in the cups was as red as blood, and all around there was music and dancing. Countless Barbarian nobles and Great Demons competed in drinking, laughter and banter filled the air, and the atmosphere was exceedingly boisterous.
Two gorgeously beautiful demonesses were pressed close against his sides, smiling like blossoms. One was lightly kneading his shoulders, while the other gently knelt before him, her hand slowly stroking from his knees toward the place between his thighs, her eyes liquid as water, her charm enough to topple cities...
A strong disgust rose in his heart; he pushed away the two demonesses, lifted the tent flap, and walked out.
His temperament was cold and aloof, and he had always devoted himself single-heartedly to the Dao, harboring little enthusiasm for matters between men and women.
Outside, the night wind was icy. He took a deep breath and immediately felt his mind clear a little, when he then heard a cry for help coming from the distance!
This voice... His eyes snapped open, and in the next instant his figure vanished from where he stood.
It was his own tent, and a woman’s sharp, shrill cries were coming from within.
The tent flap was only half closed. In truth, there was no need to lift it; with his Divine Thought extended outward he could clearly see that inside, a burly Black Bear Demon was pressing a shapely woman beneath him, intent on an act of violation.
A blaze of fury surged straight to his head. Changtian strode into the tent, seized the Black Bear Demon’s shoulder and gave it a fierce squeeze. The latter let out a long, miserable howl and immediately released the person in his hands.
He casually twisted the demon’s neck and flung it out of the tent, then turned back to look at the person on the ground. She was crying as she fearfully crawled up to a sitting position. The layers of clothing over her chest had been torn apart by the Bear Demon’s brute strength; now, with a pair of tender little hands trembling as she tried to pull them together, she still could not cover that expanse of bared, snow-white softness. Her legs were drawn up as she tried her best to curl into herself, yet that only emphasized the exquisitely perfect curves of her slender calves.
He had always held Humans in contempt, and of course looked down even more on such a Human woman. Yet the fleeting spring scenery revealed in that instant truly imprinted itself into his eyes.
His breathing grew heavier as he asked in a tone tinged with anger, "Where did he touch you?"
The little one kept her head lowered, only raising her two small hands; a faint fishy-salty smell came from them—the Bear Demon’s saliva. Disgusted, he cast a Cleaning Technique on her, then pinched her delicate chin, forcing her to lift her head. "And here? Did he touch this?"
It was an oval face, skin snow-white and so tender it looked ready to break at a touch. Her apricot eyes brimmed with tears as she gazed at him, pitiful in her helplessness, her small, petal-shaped lips tightly pressed together.
Those brows, those eyes, that face—this was the Ning Xiaoxian he knew! The countenance that had accompanied him day and night for so many years.
Yet in this moment, it was as if he did not recognize her. His fingers tightened slightly as he impatiently said, "Answer me!" Her skin felt wonderful beneath his touch, and he could not help but hook his pinky finger and lightly trace across it.
She shook her head in flustered panic, yet the faint fragrance on her body was light and distant, making him feel at ease. He knew she was not lying; she had protected her body very well, and the Bear Demon’s stench had not contaminated her.
"Why didn’t you listen to me and sneak out of the tent?" His long brows drew together, his tone quite irate. If she had not disregarded his orders and slipped out of the tent, she would never have been targeted by this Bear Demon. In the midst of the Barbarian army, no one would touch what belonged to someone else—that was an iron rule!
Her eyes instantly reddened, as though she had suffered a great grievance. Her voice was as soft as a mosquito’s buzz. "I... was so hungry..."
Changtian started, and more than half of his anger dissipated. Of course—he could not even remember when she had last eaten. She was nothing more than a frail mortal, and he had left her in the tent for an entire day. She must have been so hungry she could no longer bear to stay put and had sneaked out to look for something to eat.
Only now did he notice that her red lips, lacking the nourishment of moisture, were already a little chapped.
As if to echo her words, her stomach let out a loud growl of hunger.
She immediately flushed scarlet from face to ears, lowering her head and not daring to look at him.
He stared at the redness of her ears, thinking it truly strange. He had rarely dealt with Humans, but he did not remember Human females being so shy. In this era, females of any race were passionate and bold.
He let out a heavy sigh, released her chin from his grip, and turned to walk out of the main tent.
After roughly a dozen breaths, he returned, holding a large golden plate in his hands. The plate was piled with all kinds of cooked food, as well as several kinds of berries. (To be continued.
