Chapter 1724 - 1729: Return to the Lower Realm
"Esteemed elder, I have no idea what little dragon you are talking about. I’ve never seen a dragon," Lin Fei spoke up.
"Impossible. If it’s not with you, why did you resist my probe?" the elderly alchemist asked.
Lin Fei chuckled, "Elder, did you make a mistake? Are you saying you can check us at will to see what we carry without our consent? I used my spiritual power to resist, what’s wrong with that? Do I have to let you see everything?"
Upon hearing Lin Fei’s words, the civilians around him began to shout, clearly resisting the elder’s use of spiritual power without consent.
"Silence!"
The alchemist suddenly roared at the people below, immediately quieting them down. At this moment, Chen Rui spoke up, "Isn’t this a bit too much?"
"Hmph! I won’t believe I can’t find him. If I know you’re hiding that dragon, don’t blame me for being ruthless!"
Lin Fei smirked, gave the other a dismissive glance, and then no longer paid him any attention.
The elderly alchemist saw Lin Fei’s attitude and was infuriated, but couldn’t act because Master Chen Rui protected Lin Fei. This made the alchemist ponder whether he should give up.
Yet he decided not to abandon his search because such an opportunity involving a dragon is rare. Besides, he thought Little Black was merely a little dragon, an opportunity he absolutely couldn’t forsake.
After speaking, the elder waved and left, disappearing into the crowd, while Lin Fei breathed a sigh of relief. Fortunate that both were safely contained within his eyes, or else there would have been dire consequences. As it is, they could only remain temporarily within Lin Fei’s eyes.
Luckily, both knew the Transformation Technique, allowing them to enlarge and alter size, thus there was nothing amiss.
"Lin Fei, you’d better follow me to the City Lord Mansion to avoid further troubles, and tomorrow you should head to the Lower Realm," Master Chen Rui said.
"Yes, thank you, Master!" Lin Fei immediately replied gratefully, for he was not the type to be ungrateful. Since Master Chen Rui helped him, Lin Fei could not betray that trust and should express gratitude.
Following Master Chen Rui, Lin Fei returned to the City Lord Mansion, where Chen Rui arranged for Lin Fei to stay in a guest room before heading off to set up the array.
With time pressing, Master Chen Rui had no intention of delaying, so he promptly prepared and began setting the array.
The Spatial Array isn’t easy to establish; it requires lots of preparation and materials, and this can’t be changed.
Lin Fei sat quietly on the bed, feeling the Heaven and Earth Qi flowing in, soon reaching full capacity.
"I wonder how Mu Shanshan and the others are doing," Lin Fei worried, though worrying was useless until he returned home.
As time ticked by, the next day finally arrived. Lin Fei followed Chen Rui to the place where the array was set up, surprisingly a small courtyard, which happened to be Chen Rui’s residence, lively with vitality.
Lin Fei walked down a small path and arrived at a pavilion surrounded by vegetation, vines nearly covering the pavilion entirely.
The entire pavilion seemed draped in vines. Finally, Lin Fei reached the center array and exclaimed, "So this is the Spatial Array?"
Master Chen Rui nodded, "Correct, this is the Spatial Array. Once inside, you can reach the Lower Realm. But before that, I need to tell you something."
"What is it? Please, Master Chen Rui, speak."
"I need you to take this pill. It is a poison that won’t activate within a month. If you do not take the antidote after a month, you’ll die from toxicity," Master Chen Rui said, handing Lin Fei a green pill.
"Master, you distrust me?"
"Yes, indeed I distrust you. Will you take it or not?" Master Chen Rui asked.
"Of course, but how do I return?" Lin Fei asked confused.
"You’ll know in time. Now take the poison,"
Master Chen Rui handed the poison to him, and Lin Fei swallowed it without hesitation, trusting that Master Chen Rui would not harm him without reason.
"Here, take this. It’s a Divine Stone used for setting up the Spatial Array. The Divine Stone can detect where the array opens. In a month, I will reopen it, and this stone will glow, allowing you to find the array’s entrance and return to the Upper Realm. Understand?"
After hearing the elder’s explanation, Lin Fei nodded, "Understood, thank you for explaining, Master. I’ll go now."
"Remember, the timeframe is strict, do not exceed it," Master Chen Rui advised.
"Understood, I shall return within a month."
Finishing his words, Lin Fei stepped into the array, instantly vanishing within the array’s light barrier. Master Chen Rui nodded, then erased the array, planning to reopen it in a month to allow Lin Fei to follow the array back.
As for Lin Fei, feeling dizzy, uncomfortable, soon found himself in a different space.
Finally, Lin Fei inhaled the familiar air, sensing his body being compressed by forces in the Lower Realm. Evidently, those were the realm’s forces, suppressing Lin Fei’s power to an acceptable level here.
"I’ve finally returned! Hahaha!"
Lin Fei laughed heartily, having been away for about a year, unsure how the Lower Realm changed in his absence.
At this moment, Lin Fei noticed a group charging at him, over ten individuals, forming a large circle, evidently aiming to set up an array!
In the Lower Realm, due to suppression, their cultivation reduces to the realm’s limits, but arrays can bypass those limitations.
Lin Fei viewed the uniform-clad Upper Realm people, realizing they were likely from Qianhuang Peak, given their matching outfits.
