Chapter 2058 - 904: True King
In the final seven days before the true Great Terror descended, the True King Ceremony was at last completed.
Countless Spiritual Materials, countless High Rank Elements, countless Soul substances piled up across the Holy Fire Sacrificial Ground, the ritual ring they formed extended all the way to the edge of the Upper City. To ensure the ritual would not be disturbed, more than half of the Upper City’s buildings had been demolished. The air was suffused with the scent of Spirituality, invisible Spiritual Light shrouded the entire Upper City as though in a hazy Mist.
The thirty-five quasi-kings of Trolian gathered together in the Holy Fire Sacrificial Ground, awaiting the opening of legend.
Regrettably, Primordial powerhouses such as Solos, Guland, Romano, Bernoulli, and Moji’an still remained on the front-line battlefield. As the true Black Fog Tidal Wave drew near, the current Strength of the Black Fog had already reached an extremely high level. Super-colossal Black Fog Symbionts and Derivatives of Ancient Gods were almost densely packed across the battlefield, dozens of times stronger than when the Black Fog Tidal Wave had first arrived. If not for new breakthroughs at the Mechanical Research Institute, with batch after batch of super War Magic Statues entering the battlefield, and the arrival of large numbers of Primordial powerhouses, the quasi-kings would never have been able to leave the front line.
The pressure of the Black Fog invasion had never ceased. The reason these Lives of Man had the time and Space to restore their Soul Blueprints was precisely because people like Solos were holding the line at the front. Among them there were also Lives of Man, but in Asa’s eyes they were quite battered and incomplete. The Lives of Man that appeared in Saint Longde had all surfaced many times in the river of eternity, and had already been extensively developed; their prospects for further ascension were extremely slim. Coupled with the immense pressure at the front, they therefore had not been recalled.
But the Black Tide would not halt because of Rod’s promotion; on the contrary, it might unleash an even more terrifying frenzy during the ceremony. The departure of the quasi-kings also made the pressure on the front line enormous. Yet the Royal City had long made every preparation for this. The battle line was once again pulled back to the foot of the walls, and all powerhouses below the quasi-king level had come to stand upon the ramparts. The brilliance of the Spiritual Power Railguns veiled the sky. The battle had entered a moment of unprecedented ferocity. Every person faced infinite pressure, yet they were all filled with fighting spirit, because they knew that behind them stood the hope of all humanity, the sole ray of light in this Dark Epoch.
Royal City.
Holy Fire Sacrificial Ground.
Rod stepped into the center of the True King Ceremony with a single stride, and the boundless Spiritual Light instantly found a focus, a majestic vortex slowly taking shape.
The thirty-five quasi-kings, in a special formation, encircled him. The closest to him was Mephit, who held the qualification of three quasi-kings. Her mind was directly linked to his, without the slightest barrier, while the other thirty-two quasi-kings formed an invisible great net of Spirit, wrapping Rod at its center.
The True King Ceremony was ready.
The Great Shepherd Leader stood not far away, his consciousness still roaming this vast ritual, inspecting any flaw that might appear. His expression was calm, yet his clenched fingers betrayed the tension in his heart. After confirming for the hundredth time that this colossal and intricate ritual contained no loopholes, he said softly, "You may begin."
At that moment, every heart tightened. This was the moment that countless humans had dreamed of since the Fire Epoch. Since the severing of the path to God, no being mastering the complete Primordial Law had ever been born again. Though True Kings had appeared in the Fire Epoch, they were but briefly manifested True Kings, born at the cost of an enormous price, not on the same level as True Kings that existed from eternity. Although ephemeral True Kings possessed combat power nearly equal to that of eternal True Kings, they themselves contained irreparable flaws. Once the price they paid was exhausted, they would utterly fall, and this was the chief source of the ashes within the first Primordial Fire furnace.
In the crowd, Luo Weiya cried out in excitement, "Draw it open—the prologue to humanity’s rise! Let the radiant firelight shatter this twisted darkness; mankind shall once more stride proudly across the earth!"
Chucher thumped his chest. "Brother Rod, start with an easy heart. We’ll surely use our shoulders to carry you into the Domain of True Kings!"
Rod laughed and said, "Relax, there’s no way I can fail. My Intuition tells me the probability of success this time is one thousand percent!"
Anna shouted in delight, "Really? I’m about to become the mount of a True King!"
The Spirit girls chimed in unison, "Bah, we are!"
Fei Xue muttered, "I absolutely have to taste what a True King is like!"
Amid this myriad of noisy voices, Rod raised both hands and pointed toward the sky. The gesture was like pressing a hidden button; all sound fell silent in that instant. Everyone closed their eyes, focusing their minds and sinking their consciousness entirely into this vast ritual.
Infinite Spiritual Light rose at that moment, flooding the entire Royal City. A tremendous roar traveled from within Space throughout all of Trolian. At that moment, the three billion humans who had survived in this Dark Epoch all turned their gaze toward the Royal City, toward the Holy Fire Sacrificial Ground. They knew that the moment which would decide humanity’s fate had begun.
Within the Holy Fire, Qingyu murmured, "You must succeed, Rod. You are my husband, the man of the King of Trolian."
In the Dream Realm, the Book of Knowledge flipped its pages in utmost nervousness and asked for the hundredth time, "Asa, are you certain that Master’s promotion will definitely succeed?"
